It's nice to see, and hear, the late Bob Murphy again. He covered Met games on the radio. This must be from the late 1960s, when Rheingold still sponsored the Mets.
"Heeere's the pitch on the wayyyeeee.....heeeee struck heeeim aaaaoooooouut!!" I loved the way Murph stretched his vowels when he spoke those words! I enjoyed listening to him and Gary Thorne during the Mets championship 1986 season.
Wasn't he the best? Pure class and then some. I met him once and he spoke just as he did on the air, with a gentle demeanor and very informative. I was at Shea a few nights after he passed and got to see the video tribute before the game. He got a great hand.
Rheingold sponsored the NY Mets from 1963-1972. I wonder who sponsored them in 1962. I can remember this , yet I can not remember who was the anchor of the 11pm news on WNBC 4 back in the 60's. I t wasn't Jim Harts. Could it be Bill Ryan?
@ajn1717 Your years are a bit off. They sponsor whint went on a few years past 1973 Schaeffer came into the picture toward the last part of the 1970s BTW Rheingold came back briefly as a met sponsor at least on Radio for one year about 5 years ago. The funny thing is ithat it could not be sold at Shea Stadium because of a contract oblgation with The Steven's food services corparation.
bob murphy the best play by play announcer i ever heard. of course he was the great new york mets voice back in the day. Rheingold was the mets beer through out the 1960s.
Yes, the late, Great Bob Murphy.. he, Lindsey Nelson & Ralph Kiner (Who I still love to hear on the Mets broadcasts), were superb sportscasters. (by the way, I'm a Yankee fan)
phil rizzuto and bill white were also fab broadcasters for the yankees. new york city at the time had the best in both teams. grew up a mets fan and still are. and you a yankee fan. at least we can appreciate as fans great voices.
A six-pack of 12-ounce cans is 72 ounces of beer. An 8-pack of 7 ounce cans is only 56 ounces. So you're actually getting 16 ounces less with this gimmick than you would be if you just bought the regular 6 pack of 12-ounce cans! The only real difference is the price-you're paying just as much, or more for only 56 ounces of beer as you would for 72 ounces of beer! If I liked beer, (Which I don't, incidently!) I'd go with the 6-pack of 12-ounce cans-I'd be getting more beer for my buck!
what kind of mutant ape is that? he's got the facial features and voice of a white man, yet his skin is darker than thouruoghly burnt atomic waste coal. Like a shaven gorilla. My God! Is that some bad joke, or an early CGI fail?

The new cub size can. It's small enough to smuggle into the ball game or palm while your driving home!

It's nice to see the late Bob Murphy again. The NY Met's radio broadcasts haven't been the same without him.

A happy recap! A commercial probably from the early '70's preserved on videotape! From what I can tell it was shot at the late great Shea Stadium.
FYI Murph had the most conservative wardrobe of all the Mets announcers of that era ... Lindsay Nelson was the sports jacket champ.
