Mate, I picked up my 1098s last week and the dealer told me Ducati suggest waiting until it's 1000km service. I hope you don't have any voltage regulator problems, I did 2 in the first 3 days.
i agree with some of the comments, the duke just oozzzzes character, i ride an R1,but before it i had a white SP2, i loved it! so much character and stomp, broke my heart to get rid,and although the yam is an awesome machine it doesn't stir the soul in the same way...mayby i'll have to start saving for a 1098s...divorce!
I think current Moto GP results show that Ducati know a thing or 3 about bikes. Casey Stoner bike is uncatchable against the yammies or honda`s. Even with the genius Rossi at the helm. Oh, and how many WSB wins and championships have Ducati had with their 916,996,998 forebearer? Wait till the 1098 enters the race tracks! Last suzuki winner, besides AMA? Yeah, i`m struggling too!! And i`m a aprilia man.. but results speak for themselves!
And you forgets that "your" Gsx has gained a world-wide Superbike, while the Ducati has a decennial history of victory and now is going strong in MotoGP... the Suzuki where is? And before s cpeaking, it thinks next to what you say and if you don't like Ducati you can not to buy to them, you're not obliged. But respect them pls
The first test of Ducati 1098 has happened in a Spanish circuit to January. Ducati 1098 vs. Yamaha R1. The best times on the turn are of the Ducati. Can you explain to me why? Where were ended the 180 horses of the R1?
Moreover Ducati has reduced of 50% the maintenance costs.
gixxer1000 all i hear is your claim about production numbers.. does that mean you also have a honda civic in your garage? and is that the best car on the road? you're embarrassing the gsxr1000 community with your closed minded mentality. The gsxr1000 is a killer bike, very capable machine. But Ducati did not get where it's at through high sales, they got there by being the best track bike right out of the box.
i agree with you mate, i get a bit sick of all the hype surrounding k5 this and k6 that, fair do's its an awesome bike, but some of us like summat a little different eh..alot of blokes think gixxers are the be all and end all, half of em cant ride them anyhow!!
I own a K6 and a Ducati....love them both. If you want a superbike..those are the only two contenders. two different bikes....two different ways of riding them. Duc is stable as hell..gixxer is balanced and turns/steers quick. If you can combine the two, you'd have a perfect bike. If you can only have one..buy the Ducati everytime..if offers more than just performance. Pride of ownership and the sound is to die for. Oh yeah, you can pick up double the amount of women on the Duc also.
Why so much hate for Ducati? Seriously, these turds probably have never ridden one. I dont know anyone who had anything bad to say about them after they hit the twisties with an italian machine between their legs!
mastergixxer, your Gixxer 1000 is a nice little bike but it has one problem.... Nothing sounde end rides better than a V2!!! My Aprilia RSV 1000 RR makes your bike look and soud like a lawnmower..!
5thponyboy, you are funny. Dagocati = inflated dago junk. Can't sell so they have to cut prices by $5,000 US Dollars just to compete. Japanese superior machinery intimidates little wannabe riders, we don't need to hype ourselves. Dagocati should put training wheels on the 1098 for you Dago-junk lovers.
I bought my 916 used. It was in an accident, the frame was still true, the plastic & rims were shot, so after I got carbon fibre bodywork, & PM rims, & a bit of engine work, the bill was still under $10,000.
Gixxer, I like the Gixxer 1000, but I own a Duck. A 916, actually. Your BIKE may be one of the fastest, best handling bikes out there, but seriously, only less than 1% of riders have the know-how, the experience to ride it at it's fullest capabilities. I'm not one of them, & I highly doubt you are one too. It's the rider that makes all the difference, not the bike, but nobody wants to get a bike that matches their abilities.
hey gixxer boy, FYI, gixxers are fast, but they aren't neccessarily the best. Who won the most WSB titles? Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Duc advocate. I like all bikes and can appreciate them all for what they are. I'm just trying to be diplomatic and extinguish the animosity between Jap. bike owners and Italian bike owners.
oh, one more thing, Ducati is actually not the first to do the underseat exhaust... nor are they the first to do the twin headlight design... they just did it the best!
Bla, Bla, Bla. They are so exotic that they now have to price their pieces of shit bikes at $14,000 US Dollars. Anybody can buy that, but I guarantee you the market share from the Japanese bikes to the Ducati brand won't change much because you have to spend stupid money every year to maintain it. Ducati is a joke because some people like having the name. The best is still from Japan, look at the sales worldwide dummy, and Ducati will always try to sell it's name because it's bikes suck.
argh.... I want one. Nothing beats the rumble of a Duc. I agree with LokiX, the 1098 is a true predecessor to the 916 (as far as styling), this bike looks much better than any Japanese bike out there.
Anyway let's not get into any debates about Jap bikes this and that or Dago junk this and that. None of us had a part in designing them, we're just consumers. and if you can do better, go apply for a job with them.
Ducati styling is the best, whatever! the 999 looked like two anuses in the front and that's why they had to redesign back to dual sid-by-side headlights. Bottom-line, you can keep buying Dago junk forever and feel good about your roaring rumble that is damn annoying to hear. I will still smoke you on my Gixxer1000 any day. You can feel good about owning Dago junk all you want, Japanese bikes are superior and everyone hates that idea, but oh well sales speak for themselves.
perlovka1997, minivans don't cost $4,000 less than a Ferrari. A new 1098 cost $15,000 and a new GSXR1000 cost $11,000. Most Japanese bike riders could have no problem buying the 1098 since it is "so special". The minivan/Ferrari analogy is funny, maybe if the 1098 cost $80,000 bucks I would buy your stupid argument. Go ahead buy junk, we'll still spank ya on the road.
So you admit you buy junk. My crap wins championships all over the world. You hate that don't you? Hahhha... Keep buying junk baby. Ductati website now has a hilarious claim that all maintenance work is 50% less than it was last year to inspire you to buy 1098 junk. So fucking funny. I can't believe a company would sell themselves so low.
This is as close to owning a FERRARI or LAMBORGHINI as you can get, only cheaper!!! or as I say, the closest piece of Italian A** you can get. It is purely a dream bike come true. Those damn Italian, boy do they got curves.
Japanese bikes rule. Dago bikes are like junk after a few thousand miles. I rode my friend's 998 and it was like riding a goddamn lawnmower on two wheels.
jono1uk, funny how this ducati looks like a Yamaha R6 copy front like a real sportbike, not overpriced Dago junk. And yes, I will keep my superior Japanese machinery cause it hold it's value long after your Dago bike dies. $14,000 U.S. dollars for this bike is common, same price for new Hayabusa, your ducati is not that special, but you are especially special ed.
Nice show of your ignorance and racism too. It's people like you to give GSX-R owners a bad name. Have you ever heard of a Ducati 916 you ignorant twat? This is an R6 copy you say? Where in the hell do you think the Jap bikes stole the twin head light design to begin with? Not to mention the exhaust tucked under the read seat.
LokiX76, I'm showing racism? WTF? Everyone talks shit about how a Japanese is Jap Bike this and that. Ducati's are so overpriced that they have to slash their prices by 25% just to sell them (Use to be around $19,000 US Dollars and now $14,000). What a fucking joke. No Japanese bike had to discount that much just to stay alive. And this Dago piece of shit is worth all the hype? Get a Japanese bike and stop hyping a useless piece of Dago junk for all you people in denial.
Ok, first I own a 06 gsxr 750. Ducati was actually just looking to increase their market share by appealling to poor jap. sptbike riders. Secondly the Testasretta Evoluzione is a completely new design and the reliability has been improved. Ducatis are track bikes, japanese bikes always require work to make them ready for road racing. Motorcycle journalists always agree that the Ducatis are the best on the track when you don't factor in cost.
Everything wrong with my bike (weak midrange, soft suspension [adjusted fully to harden it already], dull front brake feel) is right in the ducatis. If you want a bike to ride around a college campus on, get a jap. bike. If you want to ride fast in the twisties get a Ducati 1098 S. Oh and the other REALLY cool part about Ducati is they do carbon fiber/magnesium parts In-house. I wish Suzuki would do that, I can't find any carbon fiber fairing pieces that dont require cutting/drilling.
I saw two Dagocati bikes at the college campus last week (yellow 998 and one ugly monster). They must be rolling big bucks to be riding expensive crap and going to school. I'm proud for them.
That means every good rider must ride a Dago bike. Wow, last I saw the Japanese were kicking the shit out of the guineas in world superbike and motoGP. Keep up the pride of buying junk and feeling good about it, I'm glad for you.
LOL, ok you dont know anything about motorcycle racing then. Ducati has won World Superbike 12 times since it was started in '88. Troy Bayliss is the current world champion and he rides for the ducati factory team.
As far as Moto Gp goes, saying one brand is better than another is just ignorant. It's like saying that a ford nascar will be better than a chevy nascar. They are custom built racing motorcycles and have no basis in production motorcycle technology. It's a night and day difference.
Perhaps you should Google the word Dago you ignorant brain-dead fuck if you don't grasp the concept of racism. Still, I'm enjoying reading all of your comments here, proving with each post what a first-rate ass-hole you are in addition to demonstrating the unfortunate fact that you struggle to find a single Ducati thread on YouTube which doesn't have a cock-sucker like you rattling everyone's cage with your Jap Bike BS.
And in anticipation of your undoubtedly retarded response to my comment.... blah blah blah blah blah :-) P.S. I own a K6 GSXR-1000. Your fucking embarrassing every decent Gixxer enthusiast here, so please shut the fuck up.
