  • the real voice and real music

  • Thats music

  • Can you imagine how many women he had back then?

  • hes coked the F out seriously!

  • la grande classe

  • Al Green, can bring the house down. As I look at more and more old school videos, I see black people sweating their azz's off. Could it be there were no fans or cooling sources? Maybe that's how they kept the weight down or worst, was force to. He looked like he could not see, so he kept his eye's close most of the performance. Is it just me?

  • @jendavrob that or he blinded himself with effort.

  • Al Green, is fantastic and this song is great

    Thumbs up

  • Thats music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The organ grinder's monkey jacket makes him look foolish, but this was many years ago.

  • @SkidRowJosephine He should have just taken it off!!! Do you the censors would have had a fit if he had???

  • My friend and I were one of the first in line to go to this taping of The Midnight Special! By the time they opened the doors to go inside, we were stampeded by all the love sick black girls! Needless to say this white boy from Colorado got out of their way! We ended up about 4 rows back! It was one of the most memorable times in my life! It is still my favorite song ever! Al green is the best!

  • @xJumpiezTheElephantx

I am too jealous that you were there and I wasn't! Are you sure all those girls were black? I've seen some white girls doing some serious screaming at more than a few of his shows! LOL

  • i remember only havin just regular tv stationz and waiting for Midnight Special to come on with the "howlin" wolfman jack to c who would be performing.. this is great! thanx for it..

  • Sexy!!!!!

  • Al is the man... period!!!

  • this is great, thanks very much!

  • Al Green - what a voice! and such control! the master!

  • midnight special=pre-mtv crap. great quality, thanks.

  • @RockAndFunk Amen to that.

  • The good Reverend!

  • Home boy!!! LOL. This was and still is the classic Memphis R&B/Soul Sound. I remember this episode like it was yesterday.

  • a masterpiece!!!

  • smile> ha'ha' amazing' what a song can do for your Love* life

  • "Beyonce", eat your hearts out !!!

  • the ultimate classic.

  • adatsda shi

  • athatsda shi

  • Al knows he's groovin' with his no shirt, satin suit wearin' self. I love it!

  • Back then, I wanted MARRY Al Green!!!!!!!!!!!! Look at the BODY!

  • Al green was the Keith Sweat of his era

  • give me some soul and some R&B love it

  • This is exactly what has gone missing these days.

    REAL talent & performance.

Nobody can beat Al Green, in terms of overall live performance throughout a whole career. Not even Michael Jackson. And certainly not Whitney Houston.

Al is pushing 65 years, and still hitting the high notes.

  • Rev. Green is sweating profusely because the intensity of the colored lights and halo lights is unbearably HOT...as a stage performer you can trust me on this . I used to have to find a reference point toward the back and center of the stage to keep from passing out when I performed at a hall or center. Those lights can actually make you physically SICK until you adjust to them.

  • A lot of those musicians were arrogant! Al Green was a legend but he had an attitude under all of that holy phasoid! He was losing his voice because he probably sung about 15 songs that night at The Midnight Special! But he had a preacher voice just like Donny Hathaway!

  • I think he got the bad COKE!!! the kind that makes your palms sweet...bad stuff...and we do blacks change the song when its live, too much added crap...

  • @ste893

Shits out there, makes us all sick when we wanna gog go go

  • The Rev.at his best!

  • Why black ppl didnt just stuck to singing instead of raping. Or at least rap well without pimp crap

  • dis nigga is sweatin on the whole crowd

  • Al Green is so awesome, that voice makes me grin all the time. :)

  • Al Green was my first concert in 1974......

  • Al Green is the only performer that sweats so much...even in church...preaching the word!!

  • 1:56 ..."I like gooooold!" - Gold Nicca

  • Nice! Thanks for this!

  • love this song and love Al's trademark sound which is of course his voice, lovely background singers, the horn section and the organ.

  • supreme song...would have a more powerful meaning if it was called...lets get together,,,,,

  • I saw Al Green in Concert a few months ago. Front row seats. He handed the women long stem roses. I got one from him too. This man is amazing. I have been sharing this music with my son and grandson. I Took my son who is 30 and his Girlfriend with me. My son turned to me and said Mom I have been to ALOT of concerts but this is the best concert I've ever been to. No Lie. He has so much energy and doesn't miss a note. Music that touches you. Don't get much of that these days.

  • Finally the legendary Rev. Al Green toured Australia and I saw him perform last night in Brisbane. Totally awesome ... I loved the show. Rev. Al Green Al... you continue to definately share the LOVE - the ladies went totally WILD!!

  • Tiana2, You are a lucky woman, does AL still perform live!! Would love to see him!!!

  • I went to see King Al in concert during this time period. The girls in the audience went insane when he came off the stage and went through the audience. I felt bad for the guys who brought their women there that night. From the women's standpoint, Al was the only male there that night.

  • lmao i remember he got his arm broke once cause the women mobbed him.

  • @3kingkool Whores.

  • @Stinkyjig Nah, he was just getting them warmed-up for the main-event later that night.

  • @3kingkool Same thing happens at a Maxwell concert.
