my education is fantastic, and i live in the good old US of A! all im saying is that there is a lot of variation here and everywhere. it's not helpful to stereotype.
for 2011, South Korea has the best educational system in the world with Finland being the second. They both have the same mentality, education is a priority, and the people as a whole promote it (even people who dont have kids)The average south korean student knows 4 languages as well as Finland, starting from preschool. Being smart is a thing to be proud of, unlike in the us where its unpopular. Im hosting a student from Finland and SK (both 17) and they are beyond the high school level in US.
It's not that it's tougher. Their system is just more efficient. What teachers manage to drag on over a period of weeks over here, they learn in about a day, and move on.
I am a new yorker and i can tell you that the education system is garbage and 80% of the teachers are terrible. One of my friends told the teacher he did not understand the problem after 2 different explanations and the teacher started to get really frustrated and just gave up on him. Teachers get angry and can't make kinds understand these days. its not the students fault, they just need a certain way of explanation.

It's because in school children are focusing mostly on Mathematics, Reading, and Science. In school we rarely use the maps at all, especially in Texas where our main focus is to get students to pass the TAKS Test, which holds your fate on weather you pass into the next grade or not. It's because in school children are focusing mostly on Mathematics, Reading, and Science. In school we rarely use the maps at all, especially in Texas where our main focus is to get students to pass the TAKS Test, which holds your fate on weather you pass into the next grade or not. Which is really sad because the TAKS test is a joke in my opinion. I can't say so for other states though.
