  • CitiField sucks!!!

  • @christophermolloy. They sure did, I hit up a few games too. Didn't the NY Giants (football) play at Shea also?

  • thank god thta sh*thole is gone. I would on taken a piss on the ruins in the name of the marlins

  • Sad to watch this, wish they could have kept the Shea scoreboard

in the parking lot and restore it to its original condition. As a kid

it was the most amazing thing to see, especially compared to the

creepy Yankee stadium board of the early seventies.I thought the

greatest job in the world would be to operate that giant in right field.

  • Almost painfull to watch...the Expos played their first game ever there on the day of my birthday, April the 8th 1969!

  • boss: what r u doin!!!

operator: i took down the wall like u sed

    boss: thats the new stadium!!!!

    operator: o

    lololol cool vid

  • the garbach of New York

  • Sad site... grew up watching baseball, not a big Mets fan....I kid who crew up in the 80's watching baseball must have loved to see Mets & other grew teams battle

  • :( Go Boston

  • :( Go Sox

  • Ohh the beatles played there...big fucking deal! The Beatles played a lot of places. Not only did the Beatles play there, but so did suckers like Bobby Bonilla and Bernard Gilkey! HAHA.

  • cool..... but im not a mets fan so yea......its not that i hate the mets or anything, i just like seeing things demolished, doesnt matter what it is >.<

  • That is one thing Shea had going for it, 2 away score boards when Citi field only has one.

  • That bud light ad has always been there since day 1 of shea lol

  • So sad still can't get over it. The team is really bad then this on top of it. Love baseball and loved the Mets but this makes it very hard. Miss baseball because of this and especially Shea.

  • With Citifield right in the background. Right next door - so much more convenient.

  • Awful to see........LOVED that scoreboard. Screw that it didn't have today's hi-tech crap. SO many highlights of Mets historic games showed that board.

  • oh man, that is heartbreaking. i loved that damn scoreboard.........it's like watching mufasa die in the lion king. RIP SHEA

  • Surprised that a more permanent home didn't claim the scoreboard - like Cooperstown.

  • Wow! Thts crazy I've always wondered what a stadium would look like getting torn down

  • man that thing collapsed almost as fast as the past few mets teams

  • I'm an Aussie who dosent actually follow baseball much , but when I do, it's the Mets, and then really only cos the Beatles played Shea in 65, but I still try and keep up with the teams progress (apparently some other NY mob did quite well this year, not sure of the franchise name though) Sad to see a part of music history come down....its now a parking lot right?

  • Sad to say, yes it is.

  • Billy Joel gave the last concerts at Shea in July 2008. Paul McCatney,Roger Daltrey and John Mayer were a few other participants joining Joel.

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

  • mets stand for my entire team sucks

  • mets suck my ass

  • shea was the best they should of refurbished it instead of demolish it at least the mets made it just about every year sense 1997

  • Yankees are trash they always win by luck and they got nothing but steroids on there team. at least the mets are a real team at least they play for the fans and not the money or steroids at least they care about us so really Yankees suck

  • seriously bro? you must be real fucking stupid.

  • into the play offs or did u for get the mets braves saga

  • only one real ny team and thats the yankess mets are junk

  • bullshit

  • how can u say bullshit thay suck have no idea how to play the game just a bunch of high paid monkeys running around

  • i miss the old new york stadiums...old yankee stadium and shea...cool mets and yanks get new stadiums at the same itme

  • Citi Field will grow on me but Shea is my heart. It's funny I read alot of comments but as a die hard Mets fan I could care less what a Yankee or anybody fan think. That stadium was my dump and i will forever love it.

  • that beautiful grass....

  • AWSOME

  • im no met fan but i agree with u tht place was the ugliest ball park ever

  • Good, the mets deserve a new stadium...shea was terrible. Me and my friend bought tickets and there was a huge orange bar between our seats. Can't wait to go to New Yankee and Citi Field.

  • Do you see any Met fans talking shit about the Yankees?

    No.

Then don't talk shit about our Mets.

  • it is hard to watch

  • I love it. Now it will truly be a sad day once the REAL Yankee Stadium goes down

  • read my mind with tha comment.

    btw IM A JETS FAN!

    J E T S JETS JETS JETS

  • by shea...well miss you

  • Bye Bye Shea.

  • i went by here the other day and it was already half-way demolished, it was a stunning site

  • id have to agree that yankee stadium was better but ill miss shea even though the mets really needed a new stadium

the yankees didnt even need a new stadium it was in fine shape and still looked good, im even more sad to see the history of yankee stadium become demolished soon

  • Good riddance shithole Shea

  • yo i totally agree with u. shea is in terrible conditions. yankee stadium is the nicest place i have been to and to think that its been up for so many years and all the history and the 26 championships! mets cant even compare shea to yankee stadium. and hahaha mets fans PHILLIES 08!!! YANKEES 09!!!

  • lol I know I can't believe that anyone would compare Shea Stadium to Yankee Stadium.

  • All the Mets fans that are sad to see this place go really need a reality check. I say good riddance to one of the worst stadium's in baseball. The only thing Shea had going for it is it was outdoors and had real grass other then that it was no different then the Metrodome, Tropicania Field or any of the stupid looking cookie cutter stadiums. Oh that's right Shea was a cookie cutter. Yankee Stadium was a classic ballpark the two stadium's don't even compare. Yankee Stadium wins by alot.

  • the mets have sucked dick 4 years

  • Come on! Ya gotta admit, that was funny!

  • thats sad to watch, RIP Shea.....and anyone who thinks Yankee Stadium was in better shape than Shea is insane. The gay white picket fence on top of the stadium wasnt even that great. Just cuz its older and has more history doesnt make it nicer. Going there felt like I was in a prison yard watching a game, it was very cold to me.. Shea was more fan and family friendly with some color to it.

  • You are insane to think that Shea was in better shape then Yankee Stadium. Shea was a shithole. Yankee Stadium was in much better shape then Shea was. Gay white picket fence? LMFAO I don't even know why I'm typing to you that's how stupid you are. Watching a game in Yankee Stadium was much better then watching a game in Shea Stadium that's for damn sure. I've seen games in both stadium's. Shea doesn't even compare to Yankee Stadium.

  • I have been to both stadiums many, many times. Yankee Stadium was in FAR better condition, and an overall much better place to watch a baseball game. There is serious bias going on when someone says Yankee Stadium was in worse shape than Shea, that just isn't the truth. This scoreboard is about the only thing Shea had going for it...shame it came down.

  • It's an even bigger shame that Mr. Met wasn't underneath it when it fell!

  • LMFAO

  • Amen

  • The Mets didn't have much of a chance to win "the 2007 & 2008 National League East" as John McCain & Sarah Palin didn't win the 2008 U.S. Presidency. The "Phillies" continue to show mockery over the "New York Mets"

"Memories Of Ebbetts Field" being domolished after the 1957 Baseball Season".

  • wow

  • christophermolloy u made me cry

  • that place was a absolute dump! who cares about that place? now yankee stadium should have been saved but shea needed to get tore down in a hurry

  • you obviously havent been to yankee stadium. its falling apart, the seats are rusting and ripped with mold growing out of them. shea was better held together than yankee was, its just that the design of yankee makes it look nicer, but up close, it was a dump. even worse than shea

  • yes i have been to yankee stadium as recent as this past season for the rays series before the all star game and yes it was deteriotating but it got have been restored and shea was like 40 years old while yankee stadium was 85 years old. and the history there was incredible

  • You are an idiot. Last time I was in Yankee Stadium was on September 18, 2008 and it was in fine shape that day. It's not falling apart, the seats aren't rusting or ripped with mold growing out of them, Shea wasn't better held together and it wasn't a dump or worse then Shea. Looks like you have some bias going on.

  • well, thats coming from someone who buys their tickets months in advance, gets to the game at 6:50, goes right to their seat and sits there the whole game, just watching.

On the other hand, i show up at 3 for a 7 oclock game and buy my tickets at the gate and go to batting practice and catch homeruns and during the game, i run around the field level finding open seats. I see every angle of the stadium. the cushioned seats down in the field level are torn apart and in shitty shape.

  • Who are you talking about? I've been in Yankee Stadium a shitload of times. I've been in Shea quite a bit too and the bottom line is this. The Mets needed a new ballpark, the Yankees didn't. So you tell me which ballpark was in better shape. It's Yankee Stadium by far it's not even close.

  • its not a biased view. its true. i probably go to yankee stadium so many more times than you do, and each time i spend about 8 hours there doing nothing but run around the small, cramped concourses, sit in the ripped field level seats and walk the EXTREMELY fuckin narrow aisle in the upper deck, made for anorexic people. Not to mention the peeling exterior paint. YOU are a biased view, because you only see the stadium from 1 entrance, 1 section, and 1 seat.

  • I highly doubt you go to Yankee Stadium so many more times then I do. You spend 8 hours running around the concourses? Do you have a life? The seats aren't ripped. What are you talking about the peeling exterior paint? If you looked at Yankee Stadium right now the exterior is in fine condition. I don't see the stadium from one entrance, one section and one seat. I've been all over Yankee Stadium and sat in plenty of different seats in the stadium. You don't know what your talking about.

  • you are so clueless, its ridiculous.

  • The only one clueless here is you.

  • As a fan who watched many games there it looks surreal. And I've had many views of the park. I always treated my brother when the Dodgers are in town. and watching the scoreboard fall .I'm like it's gone .

  • that scoreboard was the best.

  • I can't watch this. I need a hug.

  • lol me too

  • I hope they got that Home Run Apple.

  • they didnt save the same homerun apple but they will have a new one in citi field

  • Is it me, or did the scoreboard look like it was gonna crash into Citi Field?

  • it is not you

  • This is so sad to watch even for me, a Red Sox fan.

  • This is so sad. This is where I saw my first baseball game, back in the late 1960s. I can't believe I'll never see the place again. As Todd Pratt once said, she may not be pretty, but she's ours. And I, for one, will love her forever.

  • Say what you will about Shea Stadium, this is where my Dad took me to my first baseball game, and to me, is baseball. Nothing, no matter how new and cutting edge, will ever be the same.

  • Shea was such a crappy stadium. It's hard to get upset about the teardown. Let'm demolish the whole thing! Thankfully, the new stadium seems to have some architectural character ... not just shlock '60's styling.

  • *August 23 1989*

New York Mets vs San Francisco Giants 0 - 5

Seat: Upperdeck directly behind Gary Carter

Highlights:(as much as I rembr)Matt Williams(Hr) Will Clark(Hr) Kevin Mitchell(?) Candy Maldanado (hit?) I was 13 I dont rember well.

  • its so hard for me to watch this. remembering all the great things that happened at Shea. Shea is like my second home and its hard to see it go. This is why i hate businesspeople. the only reason for getting rid of shea and building citi field is because of money. I LOVE YOU SHEA STADIUM!!!!!!!!!! YOU ARE THE BEST PLACE IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY DO YOU HAVE TO LEAVE US??????? R.I.P. April 17, 1964-September 28, 2008

  • this is murder. its so hard to believe. ive been to over 150 games since 2003 and i always looked at that scoreboard and its weird to see it get knocked down like this. and think of all the homers hit off it. i feel like i was just looking at it yesterday

  • See its kinda cool and kinda sad! Im a huge mets fan and im kinda pissed that Shea's gone. But now that I see Citi Field im excited for it to open. All good things come to an end!

  • i'm a mets fan i can't belive it

  • that is so sad.... i miss shea stadium

  • i made the mistake of watching this in the morning, threw the whole day off

  • i cant believe this. i dont think any of the guys knocking it down were mets fans or knew the memories from that stadium. they just let it fall. hard.

  • how are u guys not happy to leave there its a dump

  • Because it was our dump.

  • thats the coolest video i ever saw

  • Must be a Yankees fan.

  • @christophermolloy The Yankees played at Shea for 2 seasons.

  • I need a therapist after watching this.

  • I agree.

  • that is a horrible thing
