I have an 08 g35s stock and my shit burns tire on second and third gear 5AT (no lie). The 2009 and up have 330hp stock with 7AT. NICE time. I live in Houston, near the galleria area.
Yes, stall it against the brake, if it spins too hard then next time use less RPM until it only spins maybe 3 to 5 feet max. With this car you must roll into the throttle, planting it to the floor spins it too hard and slows it down.
If you stall it all the way up against the brakes it will just blow off the tires and you will go WAY slower.
We are likely going to trade this car in on an 09 sedan with the 7at and 330 horse 3.7
I really like the G35, its a great daily driver for wifey and is enjoyable when I drive it. Here lately wifey has been eyeing corvettes again, may have to get her one of those too!
that's wassup.. the 7at should help out gas mileage a little bit.. i'm thinking of either getting that or a lexus gs350.. not anytime soon though.. i can't afford one brand new.. has to be at least a couple years old.. let that thing depreciate a little bit first
Yes auto, I had VDC off, but it still seems to be there just higher limits. I have found the paddle shifting in this car to be too slow to respond, so my technique is to take off in manual first gear to make sure it does not short shift and then as soon as it is solidly hooked plop it into auto and let it handle the rest of the shifts. It nails every shift perfect that way.
damn nice run! what was the 60ft? can you post the entire slip increments? how was the weather that day? hrp in january usually equals good things. I have an '08 g35s 6mt and do plan on taking it to hrp this fall. these cars are really sleepers, and in fact the sedans are substantially lighter than the coupes. the g35s 6mt is the lightest of them all at 3520lb curb weight. I'm curious to weigh mine at hrp.
I scaled the car at the track it weighed 3825 with me in it. Yes the sedan is lighter than the coupe.
Weather was great for a run that day it was nice and cool, it hurt traction but it seemed to pay off on power of course. I did measure everything with my Kestrel 4200 but some things are classified LOL!
Well, bummer for you but it was and still is stock.
Its my wife's car and having owned many fast cars in my time I knew it was pretty quick, so we drove it out and timed it. I was hoping for a 13.7x but first run out of the box was this one. It backed it up with a string of 13.6's in the 102 range, but the dumb VDC proved to not be totally defeatable and kept cutting the power right after the launch causing the car to fall on its face and then take off. Oh well.

BMWFan330i 2 years ago
How did you launch it? Did you hold the breaks and floored it when it turned green or did you hold the breaks at a certain rpm and then gas it
