@juni78ukr Quit getting on H5017's case. He's looking for the '78 series from which the clips in this video were taken. The German DVD release you're talking about is of the '95-'97 series which is a poor comparison to the '78 series. Different actors, different production company, different series altogether.
@olly3663 Don't be stupid. Is it really hard to go to amazon.de and type famous five in search panel? You can see it even by dvd cover. I can't post here direct link but anyone can go and easily find it.
Of course it's 78 series wth Marcus Harris, Michelle Gallaher, Gary Russell and Jennifer Thanisch. 26 episodes on 6 DVD and bonus DVD or 3 Blu-Ray for about 40 euro. I wouldn't bother to buy 95-97 series.
I couldn't agree with you more: really one of the best series ever made for children. I was a kid growing up in France when the first version aired (I'm NOT talking about the 1996 remake, for I didn't get the chance to watch it). What disgusted me about it, though, was that it was overdubbed (in French) while I watched it: contrary to most kids my age in France, I already knew English at the time
Jo, Max, Allie and Dylan are the children of the original Famous Five who live in the town of Falcongate. Max, Allie and Dylan are all cousins whilst Jo is their second cousin.
They, like their parents, are accompanied by a dog named Timmy and they embark on a new series of adventures. During these adventures the new Famous Five are able to make use of newer technology such as laptop computers and mobile phones which had not been invented in their parents' day.
@teee2 she was paralysed after a moterbike accident and suffered from depression.very sadly she committed suicide in 2001. she is survived by her son.
@teee2 The story about George has never been substantiated and has achieved something of an urban myth. Suffice to say, in an article posted by Gary Russell in the late 1990's the cast of the FF used to meet up occasionally for a meal but Michelle Gallagher (George) always declined. Her present whereabouts and circumstances are unknown. Gary Russell is a radio producer, Marcus Harris is a businessman and local councillor and Jenny Thanisch is a school teacher.
You know the new Famous Five with the sons and daughters of the old famous five? Well I have another theory about what happened when they grew up. Do you want to hear it?
Even if you don't I will tell you it anyway. George discovers that Quentin is not her real father. She and Dick have feelings for each other so they marry. Anne marries Tinker (the boy with the monkey) and Julian marries Jo (a tomboy like George). George decides at the age of 14-16 that she likes being a girl so she now has long hair, wears a dress and is referred to as Georgia.
Maybe Anne and Tinker... but I dont think they would marry Jo... if anyone would it would be Dick. And lets not start incestual things! Even if he turned out not to be her father (doubtful) they have acted like siblings for so longf it would be wierd.
That is what you think and I accept your opinion. But you're just one person. I'm sure that there are others who think this. Just like there are others who think that Rose and Blane in MI High should be together.
On 28 August 2007, it was announced on the BBC News website that a revival of The Famous Five is being developed.[9] Julian, Dick, Anne and Georgina were all going to be in the story - now all as adults in their forties; they would also be joined by a descendant of Timmy The Dog. Co-developer Twofour states "casting and writing talent is still very much under wraps and no broadcaster is yet confirmed. However, some of the best-known acting talent in Britain is already under consideration."[10
oh fab days...still got my famous five club badge somewhere....just found my old books in the loft... gonna read them with my daughter to keep the fun alive for many more years! ....where are you all now guys? no.... i just want to remember you all the way you were...lol
@LoveBigBangTheBest I agree. No wonder so many kids today are so hung up about their bodies and sexuality than they were up until the 1990s. But what a great song and a great video to go with it. I used to watch this show a bit when I was a lot younger.
I'm moved to tears when I listen to this song as it reminds me of the good old afternoons when I was back from school, played a while in the garden then sat comfortably in front of an old TV watching TFF. :(
hey love the vid. where did you get the full song? i brought the series of ebay(and the full set of books) - i'd say its a boot leg but its still awsome! got to get the 90s version now :)
The theme song is readily available on the ne, I've had it for so long I can't remember the exact site I downloaded it from. Lots of bootlegs out there, I also bought the VHS series on eBay. Who knows, one day the licensing probs will be sorted and we'll have it on DVD! I can send you the theme song if you have probs :)
oh thanks- i just recorded this version in with my computer. i have the dvds. i think who ever did them fiddled with the colour a bit but they are still awsome!
@0425563 I just bought the 1978 full collection on ebay and now have 1 part of the 1996 version ( Five On A Treasure Five) it's amazing that I have fallen in love with something written 50 years before I was even born (1996)
@VineMonkey aha! go unto (onto??) Google and type in 'youtube to mp3' copy and paste the link, and convert it, then you can download it (its safe, tried it myself!) ;D welcomes!
Holy Cow...I can barely remember this show...the only thing i could remember was the song....and found it on here, must have been close to 30 years.....wow
It's given me goosebumps listening to this after all this time! My friend Michael had the 7" single and tried to tape it for me - it was the shonkiest recording ever, but I listened to it constantly.
Ha ha ... I'll reply to this! I think you are applying today's standards to days gone past. With all respect, you cannot do this. As a kid (boy) camping on the Dorset Jurassic beaches with my cohorts in the 50's, we wore similar stuff. Nowadays, we would probably be locked up. How times have changed but then again you see, we had freedom as children in those days. Today ?? I love the FF, do not get me wrong and they are an indicator of what once was. Julian (Marcus) I'm sure does not give a dam!
As a boy in the 50's I lived in the same area as this. I remember the original broadcasts and have all of the (heaven forbid) video tapes.
Where have those innocent days gone. I never had the adventures of the 5 but, we camped, built rafts, climbed cliffs, sailed, invaded Brownsea Island and roamed through the New Forest. Never a mobile, GPS, money, shin/ankle gaurds, helmets, lifejackets, flags to show the way on our ancient pushbikes. Nobody interfeared with us and we had unlimited freedom.
Me born 1945 just after the war. We had nothing. Left to our own devices, mum & dad were too busy making a penny. Lots of war surplus stuff then, tents, compasses, maps, rubber boats, inner tubes from a friendly garage. Loads of ex-war buildings to roam thru. I think we had much more freedom then than the kids of today. Imagine being left alone to camp on a Dorset beach for days on end as we were. To swim and sail in Poole Harbour and, to camp in the New Forest and light fires. Loved it all ..
I luv this series but the 1996 one i think is very dull and boring because Enid Blyton set a clear picture of characters in my mind but the 1996 version doesn't seem to match my images only Jemima Rooper(George) does!
This sums up my whole childhood - the famous five where my best friends and my favourite story ever.
In the play ground we had a little play set with binoculars and maps and we used to pretend to be the famous five and spy of the other kids. we also used to go to the woods and act out large parts of the books. I would always be george or timmy and laura would be anne or julian.
I love famous five i hav all the books and i am searching for the series there is loads here on you tube but can't download them onto my pc can anyone tell me where i can get the whole series from to download and that lovely clip please
try using Vdownloader to download them. These Famous Five Clips are bring back so many memories of growing up in the 70s, there were without doubt awesome years to grow up in
