Also wanted to say that as many times as I've seen Warren live (over 100 shows since 95) I can't ever recall seeing a guest (esp. a guitarist) where a sport coat or suit coat onstage. Assuming that means this was a big deal to Joe - unless that's how he normally dresses onstage. Great playing by all.
Love this vid - typical Warren - he fucking smokes the place...Great solo by Joe as well......didn't even notice if it was Andy or Jorgen on bass. Guess that means I MISS WOODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love when WH says "Joe Bonamassa? Do you feel like breaking up somebody's home this evening?" Before Joe goes off. Classic Warren.
Joe is the consummate pro letting Warren take and maintain the lead. I mean, it was Warrens band and his show, a guest player should never try to overplay his welcome. They both rock!
You're absolutely correct and probably why so many guitarists want to play with Joe. He's a gentleman and one hell of a good guitar player.
I'll never forget seeing Warren and Dickie Betts playing together in NYC when they were both in the ABB. Dickie had to be top dog on stage and quite frankly he was. Betts played guitar like he wanted to beat someone's ass with it.
In Indianapolis, I saw Mule the day before this show. Skipped this Chicago show to drive to St. Louis to see Joe. Got a phone call from friends who did Mule in Indy-Chicago-Detroit. They rubbed it in that Joe was on stage at the Riviera! My luck to miss my two favorite pickers on stage at the same time.
Love Gov't Mule and Joe definitely has the licks. Great stuff. Warren Haynes playing with Dickie Betts in Allman Bros was the the stuff of gods. They were a natural together
OK....pay attention Joe. I know you are sick as hell, but Warren is the king of blues rock. Two amazing talents. I live in a great time for music. These two alone take any notion of today's music sucking and throw it out the windoWW
@MrAlex0262 Maybe I wouldn't go that far , but this music is what our young people should be listenin' to....the music industry is crankin' out garbage that's supposed to showcase talent.....please..........check out Haynes with Derek Trucks if you get a chance.....
The truth is. If you enjoy this, then it's good. If you don't that's okay too. Music like all art is a matter of opinion. My opinion is that Joe Bonamassa is an excellent player, but at this gig, he was just mimicking, trying to prove something instead of doing his own expression. Hey, we're all human. I think Warren Haynes is a more seasoned and mature player. Just my opinion. They are both top notch modern blues players.
This set of musicians and this performance make an excellent example of this particular genre - if some people don't like it, it's probably because they don't like the sound at all, and prefer something completely different (salsa, rap, opera, whatever) - so pay no mind to the "don't likes", they don't count :)

As an artist and fan of music, I feel that we should have respect for our fellow musicians. We should embrace each others' styles and abilities with open arms. Way to go Joe and Gov't Mule!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Trucks knows how to use spacing better, and how to put more soul in each note. More like Albert. Hell I saw stevie ray put his guitar down at alberts feet. Has bonomassa paid his dues ? I'm not sure he plays well with others. Excellent musical masturbation though.
The sound quality on this is ridiculous! it sounds like its straight from a live cd, anyways awesome video! these guys mesh perfectly, they should play more together
I know he gets to play with all the big names. Drummer Jason Bonnaham but whatever. Have you seen the footage of neil schone sitting in with Albert King? Horrid. If you like Clapton check out the guy he had in his band Doyle Bramhall jr. Really nice player! I love jmmy page but I still wont freak out about someone just because there isn't anyone new thats real to go see. I'd much rather hang out on sixth street in Austin and jam with a bunch of great players than waste time on this doode.
Every other guitar player I know is more tasteful that Joe Bonnamasa. Way too many notes. Not enough feel. too white. "" And everyone falls to pieces over him all over It seems.
@rockingthatLP I think people mostly need someone new to idolize. I know people who can actually play and who listen to real stuff don't listen to him. Thats my two bits. Way better than Kenny Wayne Sheppard or the other joker Johnny Lang. the worst! Makes this guy sound good.
@rockingthatLP Who are you're favorite blues players? He's not tasteful at all. Wanker. Listen to Johnny Winter if you like fast playing. He's real and played with Muddy Waters. Someone you and Joe probably need to listen too.
@MrJohntube12 If I'm completely honest my favourite players are Eric Clapton, Led Zeppelin and Joe Bonamassa. And whoever it may have been aimed at, please don't call anyone a wanker again. Joe Bonamassa is real and he played with BB King... THE KING for goodness sake, as well as Clapton.
I've been waiting a long time for someone who can do the following:
1. Lay down rock, rock blues and blues tunes that will have you picking your jaw up off the floor. 2. Absolutely rip apart the fretboard by applying multilple techniques and blazing chops (this guy is NOT a one trick pony) from song to song and even within a song. 3. Have a voice that supports his guitar work AND can sing within the framework of multiple styles (rock, blues, rock blues etc..). JOE BONAMASSA is the REAL DEAL!!!
Huge JB fan, but I admit I've never heard of Warren Haynes. These two together are absolutely awesome. Just when I thought I'd found all the good older JB videos on YouTube, I happen onto this one. Fantastic back & forth play.
