  • true and his pinan bonkai's are great.. loads of new ways of thinking of things..i truly love the pinan shodan bonkai...

  • Nagamine is really great master! Amazing karateka and after that a very wise person!

  • how could he be 9th dan in 60' ?

  • @karatekid68 Who are u talking about? Nagamine Sensei was the founder of Matsubayashi Ryu. You may want to check Wikipedia for his bio.

  • @NewEnglandBudo I know who he is, but in the 60', he was young, 50 years old??

  • @karatekid68 Yes, I know several high dan masters of several kai-ha that received high Dan grades at a young age. Shogo Kuniba comes to mind he was 35 ish when he was named the head of his father's Seishin Kai. Not everyone felt the need to follow the DNBK rules on age vs. dan rank.

  • Very enjoyable, thank you!

  • The bo kata at 7:00 I learned as Nagamine no Kun. It is titled as Bojutsu Shirataro no kata -in English translation, minor differences, may be by the cut old film, any comments?

  • The correct name is Shirataro no Kun or as you have stated above. Possibly someone in your lineage did not get the correct name and just called it Nagamine no Kun for quick reference.

  • Esto es Karate de verdad... a donde quedo esta esencia ?

  • It was taken at Nagimine Sensei's school in the 60's

  • I began my practice in Matsubayashi Ryu with Akamine, Shigehide Sensei in Argentina(6 years) and enjoyed the visit of Nagamine Sensei in the 70's. What can I do to download the video to my PC?

  • See the info I sent u via PM

  • Extra !!!!

  • Just LOVE IT! NEB thanks!

  • I'm in shobayashi shorin-ryu and this vidoe is really amazing to watch, cause you can see just how close the two styles are! Any thing showing kata from that time in Okinawa is always great.

  • At that time the kata hadn't the opportunity to diverge as much as they have as of today. I have a tape of Eizo Sensei doing kata in the late 60's but sadly it is a copy of a copy of 8 m.m. and is very blurry. Too blurry to post.
