$6 million? What did he base that figure on? The amount he thought he live the rest of his life on? That he could instigate trouble, be asked to leave, and then return with a carefully unfocused camera while his friend shouts at officers to make it appear something more was going on. He's a greedy young man, and this case won't go anywhere.
I do believe you have your story backwards. As protesters we did everything the guards asked us to do. As he turned to walk away, the guards jumped him from behind. As you can also see in the video, the guards had their hand cuffs out before they even got to where we were. This was the initial walk up to the protest.... and this was the first words that anyone said to us. We never even got to protest.
This case will go far. We were walking on a public street and had every right to be there. NOT TO MENTION that they cited him for trespassing on a street that he only step foot on after he was in handcuffs.
Do you know what punitive damages are, sir? They''re set to make sure that things like this don't happen again. It's called monetary punishment. You should brush up on your knowledge of such things before you try commenting on a situation you know nothing about.
Then your issue is obviously and ONLY with the police, not the church. The guy suing is just looking for money (6 million is extreme) and nothing more. He got the scene he wanted and came for, and in the end, he won't get anything out of it, because it appears the issue is with the police.
The "Church" of Scientology is liable for the actions of the officers, due to a master/servant clause. The Co$ hired Hayes to do the job. He didn't write the lawsuit himself, sweetheart... he's got a lawyer. Any and all concerns should be directed to him. And seeing as you aren't directly involved, I don't see why you're concerned.
Unless you /are/ somehow involved. Care to elaborate?
We didn't show up for a scene. We showed up for a protest. Again, facts. Get them.
I was first interested because one newscast claimed the incident occurred on May 2, the other that it happened on grand opening on April 25 and I was wondering how the two dates got confused and which one is real. I attend Sunday services there and it sucks that the guy got pushed around, but 6 million is ridiculously excessive considering not much of anything happened. Like those Bart Durham commercials where people get millions and buy homes, start business and were never hurt to begin with.
Honey, conflicting dates is called bad journalism. I don't think that's our fault.
You never answered my question. Ever heard of punitive damages? Go look it up. I know it's a big word, but I'm sure you can work it out.
They flat out ignored his constitutional rights. He was illegally detained, falsely accused... not to mention he was THROWN TO THE GROUND on a public street. A PUBLIC street. Your "church" had permits for the sidewalk that was hundreds of yards away.
(cont) No where near where he was. We'd been walking for 15 seconds or so, after we rounded the corner.
Maybe if your "church" really contained "the most ethical people on the planet", it wouldn't be in this predicament. Not to mention the lies and slander you've been spreading on other videos.
Aren't we SP's anyway? You're not even supposed to be talking to me. It's out tech! Enjoy your sec checks. <3~
Great story Anons. I'm glad Nashville Anons haven't taken this incident sitting down. Keep up the good fight, we at Anon CT are all behind you. Give um hell and don't let their scare tactics discourage yall.
I`m an ex-pat Tennessean...I hope this case is prosecuted to the limit! I`m considering moving back...but, I`d like to see this case win for the poor innocent guy who was brutalized for no reason! Set a precedent, Tennessee! Down with the creepy criminal cult!
He wasn't brutalized or injured. 6 million is a ridiculous amount to ask for and if he gets anything (considering the issue is only with the police, not the church) it might only be a few thousand. He won't get a free life for instigating trouble and using Scientology as a target.
The cops got their orders from $cientology (one member was seen directing them), sorry, they DO take some blame. The guy DID NOT instigate any trouble..get your head out of the sand. Did you even watch the whole video? Obviously, you know nada about the term "punitive damages".
"Somebody on this planet, about 600 B.C. found some pieces of 'R6'. I don't know how they found it; either by watching madmen or something. But since that time they have used it.
And it became what is known as Christianity. The man on the cross. There was no Christ!"
- Scientology Class 8 Course, Lecture 10, 3 Oct 1968 ("R6" refers to an alien psychiatric thought implant)
If you listen or read the entirety of what he's talking about, he means that there is no Christ as depicted in the Bible. Like LRH himself, the life and details of the man named 'Jesus' is exaggerated. Virgin mother, water to wine, walk on water, reborn after death, ascending to Heaven - all false.
And that's exactly what's wrong with Scientology. According to What Is Scientology?, "Scientology is all-denominational in that it opens its membership to people of all faiths. Part of the Church's Creed states that "all men have inalienable rights to their own religious practices and their performance."
Why does it say Scientology is compatible with Christianity only to be told later that Christianity is an alien thought implant AND Jesus was a "lover of young boys and men"?
I think what they mean by compatibility with other religions is that A person of another religion can do the purification rundown, come to a service, play at the open mics, do marriage counseling or public speaker classes offered by Scientology, without becoming Scientologists.
I'm glad we agree then. Scien and Xtianity are not compatible.
Even with your particular spin on it, this precludes compatibility with Christianity. The birth, death and resurrection of Christ are the very fundament of the entire faith. 99.9999999999% of Christians you interview on this subject will concur.
So why is it that CoS spokespersons like to claim compatibility with other faiths, when even their own public agree this is not the case?
I think what they mean by compatibility with other religions is that A person of another religion can do the purification rundown, come to a service, play at the open mics, do marriage counseling or public speaker classes offered by Scientology, without becoming Scientologists.
IF that is what is intended in the compatibility statements in Scientology literature, websites, and by spokespersons both official and otherwise, then they (collectively) have very poor communication skills, or they are ignorant of the basis of the religions they've chosen to speak of. Which of these do you suppose is true?
"Scientology does not conflict with other religions or other religious practices. " -WhatIsScn
It does not say 'Some Scientology practices do not conflict with other religions or religious practices." It does not say "Our counseling service doesn't conflict with other religions." There is no disclaimer, or fine print.
I put it to you that 'they' are not so poor in their grasp of language, nor so ignorant of the premise of the dominant religion in the nation of their founder to make these statements unwittingly. Rather, the intent is to deceive.
I don't think there's really a need to put a disclaimer or fine print that only some of it doesn't conflict, a person can come and be as involved as they want to be. Are you in Nashville? Perhaps we could meet in person
I was being facetious regarding the disclaimer/fine print. My point is that these claims are not honest.
If you were a vegan, and saw advertising for a store which claimed all of their products were vegan, and on that basis purchased those products, you would feel irrate to later learn that they manufactured even some of their products from whale blubber.
Similarly, if you were a devout Christian or Muslim etc, and you purchased scn services, only to later learn that even some of their products
were completely against the tenets of your faith, then you would feel quite cheated and not a little irritated.
To many believers, supporting an organization that actively dismisses the tenets of their faith is OFFENSIVE, and even explicitly prohibited by their faith, and these believers deserve informed choice. The CoS does not provide this, and they appear to actively campaign against it. Such deceit is unconscionable.
Congratulations, Anon! You've successfully got them where you want them!
You're basically the big black man in jail and Scientology is the little bitch who got charged with...identity theft or something, any way, good luck and bring them down!
They'll take him down, but not the Westboro Baptist fools. Shows how far money goes.
