for once i completely agree with you clevvermovies, you guys got all 5 of the best action movies out there, the new movies don't get me wrong, are great, but i love indiana jones, die hard's, lethal weapon, aliens (and predator) and the terminator francise, (especially the sarah connor chronicles but the 1st and 2nd terminator were also just as awesome) :D

That's "Police Story"the first one...that single movie was stole from by so many directors...including Michael Bay "BAD BOYS 2 - CHANTY TOWN CHASE" n he claimed the stunt was his simply cause americans don't at that time watch asian cinema ...N U PROVED THAT POINT..."police story" was a game changer it is the reason why actors now do their own stunts..do the research ...n change this out dated list or just open ur minds to not just american cinema...other worlds...be clever to watching movies

Dog Soldiers, The Matrix series, District B13, The Killer, The Raid, The Horde, Attack the Block, First Blood.. clearly there's alot of action movies out there to but I think since its now 2012, that people isn't just closed minded n limited to america cinema, if u say top 50, 10, or 5 action movie...u have to include the asian market too...since they changed the whole action movie game for american movie directors...JUST LOOK AT JACKIE CHAN'S " POLICE STORY" nuff said

its all opinion in the end, personally I love Hard Boiled and consider it one of the best. Its hard to mess with the opening tea shootout or the hospital one shot. I am all for a modern list but 5 really won't be enough even if its just limited to american films.

@ClevverMovies ..You can't say Indiana Jones is a great action movie comparing it to films like The Bourne Trilogy or The Matrix..Indiana is more of an adventure flick like the mummmy movies & Tombraider... I have great respect for Alien as a Horror/Thriller film but when it comes to action I am sure it will face stiff competition and to be fair on Ridley Scott I would say Alien has less action compared to Gladiator....

@ClevverMovies Black Hawk Down, Pirates of the Carribean Franchise, The Matrix Franchise (Even though 1999 still has 2 other movies in 2000s), Aliens vs Predator (great action terrible storyline though) and the Underworld Franchise. I think that would be good.

Although aliens and terminator have heavy action in them, I feel they fall more heavily into the sci fi genre.  I think alot of amazing action flicks were passed up as well, and the two above mentioned movies just didn't belong. Just my 2 cents 4 what its worth
