The girls were willing participants of these photos so they too had the responsibility to keep these photos safe so don't blame it all on Edison! And why did he make the statement in English? I used to live in HK and although it is not uncommon to know English, isn't Mandarin the more common "second language"? It seemed more appropriate to deliver the speech in cantonese if the target audience is the general HK population - it would appear more "sincere"...either way, his speech was way better than gillian's...

The guy's a famous singer/actor/teenager idol in Hong Kong and took some very naughty pics (showing his private bits in full glory) with other famous HK celeb girls, stupidly left the pics on his laptop, took it to a computer shop to fix one day and next thing you know he was being extorted for cash otherwise the pics would go public.

What Edison Chan said is not anything NEAR that extent. And fyi, being an actor has everything to do with it; They memorize lines for a living.

I do think he is very sincere to give this apology. It's a responsible act to quit HK entertainment industry. He did admit taking the photos, it is responsible for him to say so. Well....He had really taken the pictures but I dun see much problem in it. He has always admitted that he is a playboy and very open to sex, it is at least a consistent act. Nothing wrong to take personal photos. I am a woman, I took that before with my man, it's just a snapshot of your life, having sex, having fun, celebrate life when you are still young. Why we have to judge him and the girls so hard? Yes, they had sex but it happens before marriage. I accept his speaking in English not only because he know little written and spoken Chinese but also because:
1. If the announcement was drafted by himself he can express his meaning and feeling more accurately,
3. More importantly this incident has become worldwide and he was apparently speaking to not just Chinese in Hong Kong but asian and non-asian people overseas who can speak English just like himself.
