I think this does more to advance gender equality than most feminist activism. She inflicted an extreme level of psychic trauma on that gentleman, disparaging his physical appearance on national television, and subsequently got her teeth knocked out. Violence is never justified, but if we want to continue to shatter glass ceilings we need to take into account the feelings of men, specifically as they relate to verbal abuse from women.

A law that punishes equally is what I'd opt for, but this absolute shock of a man hitting a woman just furthers the ideology that is it somehow far worse for a man to hit a woman than it is a man to hit a man which I find to be ludicrous.
The problem with equal laws is like you said that there exists a bias in which females are favored over men.
For example if a man reports a woman hitting him chances are he'd be laughed at by authority, but in reverse the man would be going to prison.
