It's a liberty that I might have been okay with were it not for the scars which I still feel to be unnecessary. Thankfully, Ledger's performance makes it all work when you watch the film.
Well Nolan is wrong. I believe that you need to stick to the truth of the story as much as possible. To me, it just looked horrible to have plain hands with a white face.
There is no true origin story to the Joker. The chemical bath is just one of the stories used to describe the Joker's past.
And quite frankly, that origin was flimsy, especially when shown in a real life setting. No offense, but Jack Nicholson's hands emerging from a toxic bath to look like an albino with a goth fetish seems too cartoonish.

"my back REALLY hurts today so i'm gonna take two instead of 1" for example. its careless, its stupid, and its tragic. he never thought it would kill him.

Ledger was so brilliant that my friend said he didn't realize Ledger was even in the film until later...I hope the Academy doesn't screw Heath over the way they did for Brokeback Mountain. Ledger has created a character for the time capsule & should receive the Best Actor (not supporting) Oscar.

that's why i think he was better than jack. when i saw the trailer for dark knight, i didn't even RECOGNIZE heath. and in the movie, i completely LITERALLY forgot it was him. to me, during the movie, he WAS the Joker. And with Jack's performance, it was great, it really was. but i could still recognize him. he was never COMPLETELY the joker to me. just a guy playing him very VERY well. Heath became the joker, and that's why i like him the best.

Johnny Dep has been in talks with christopher nolan (director) in regards to the next batman, who could he play, who knows, probably any character thats put in front of him, but if they plan to use the joker again Depp is the closest ther gona get to Heaths Portryal

My vote for the next joker is someone acting the part, and having Mark Hamil (Luke Skywalker) do the Joker's voice.
From all the Jokers I think Mark has the best voice for it. Hell if he can still act ont he big screen let him be the next joker :)

i was completely blown away by his performance. Its not that him being dead is making me say this, but it was honestly his best performance, i couldn't get enough of the joker. Sad that Heath has been robbed of the highlight of his career that this film undoubtly would have lauched him to.

Those older Batman bmovies are too quirky for what they are trying to do with this series; that and this is the 2nd part of a trilogy. They shouldn't do the riddler, in my opinion; he would have to be crazy and noone can outperform Heath's role.

I was so amazed when I found out that was really Heath! I sat through the whole movie thinking I recognized the Joker some how, but I couldn't put my finger on why he seemed so familiar. It's amazing how Heath made the character of the Joker come alive. He defiantly deserves an Oscar for this role. It's so sad that he wouldn't be able to receive it in person though. He really does deserve it. I always thought he's a good actor...but this..this was amazing acting.

Watch the movie Two Hands. Excellent acting and also a lot of great Aussie actors in that film. Really good plot that helped Heath rise to fame in Australia.

because heath completely immersed himself in such a difficult character for 12-14 hour workdays the role drained and exausted him, he started taking sleeping pills to help him relax and get to sleep, among other things, it was simply a gradual build up of various prescription pills he had been taking until he eventually got to a lethal dose. "my back REALLY hurts today so i'm gonna take two instead of 1" for example. its careless, its stupid, and its tragic. he never thought it would kill him.

2. He is the best Joker because he was able to truly demonstrate the qualities of the Joker from the original cartoon characters and bring it to real life where we can relate to it
And his career was at its' peak...why would he commit suicide? And his baby girl was in the room with him...

That's what everyone says, he committed suicide. But why would he kill himself when his last full movie was already buzzing with excitment and while he was filming another movie? Someone dies of pills and everyone just assumes suicide. Heath was beast.
