  • I remember the song of this tv show! But I was a kid ! about 5 or 6 years old!

  • Ending credit;

The dark side is always there, waiting for us to enter, waiting to enter us.

Until next time, *try* to enjoy the daylight.

  • I love the creepiness of the intro. Very true. That reverse image is scary, like something not so right is about to happen.

  • I love creepy intros!!!

  • @UtahJazzGirl91 what are the other creepy intros?

  • just wanted to give you a shout out, back in the day when I worked swing shift I had a dog that would go ape shit when she heard the music before the show started.

  • creepist intro ever

  • @T12uth I dunno...the intro for Are you Afraid of the Dark still creeps me out...

  • @wolfmyth007 Good job man!! I forgot about that show lol! Man Im getting old

  • Tales from the Darkside, the GREATEST horror series of the 80's. It sure beat the crap out of The Twilight Zone.

  • @BUCK55039 FUCK NO!

  • I don't know why this is so scary?

  • I used to stay up with my mom when I was really little & watch this. :') Good times!

  • its perfect

  • man lives in the solid world of what he believes to be reality BUT! there is unseen by most an underworld a place that is just as real but not as brightly lit a DARKSIIIDE!!!!!!!!!!

  • this intro used to scare me to death

  • This intro never gets old. Love it.

  • I like how the guy goes:

    *loooooong pause* .....BUT

  • I'm still scared of the country : /

  • This show would come on late at night when I was a kid and it scared the shit out of me; the intro especially. Who knew scenery could be so scary?!

  • you know you were about to shit your pants when you saw clouds and heard that eery ass opening note.....and then it got creepier and then the floor was wet or the room smelled like poop

  • That dude sounds pissed.

  • this show fucked with my psychi

  • This intro is sooooooooo scary!

  • Probably THE creepiest intro ever.

  • This intro scared the piss out of me as a kid. It still gives me goosebumps. I used to watch the show when I was at my grandmother's house, which was really old and decrepit. The fuse box would blow if we had too many lights on at once, so the living room was always dimly lit after dark. The show was on late at night, and walking up those dark, creepy stairs to the guest bedroom was at least 10 times creepier after watching it.

  • Love this show, I always watch it on chiller when it is on.

  • This song really, really makes you wonder is there really a darkside? We rarely see it. However it does exist

  • FYI this show plays weekdays on Chiller

  • LOVE THIS INTRO AND THE SHOW!

  • Man was I scared of this . I could watch the show but not the intro . The hard part was coming back in time to watch the show but not hear the music .

  • perhaps one of the most eerie intros to any show or movie.

  • The music from this intro scared me when I was a kid!!

  • @8199shawn ME TOO LOL!!!!!! I GOT GOOSEBUMPS NOW LISTENING TO THIS. I USED TO HIDE BEHIND MY FATHER WHEN THIS WOULD COME ON AT NIGHT ON WPIX 11 IN NEW YORK. WOW THIS JUST TOOK ME BACK!!!!!

  • Fuck CBS for taking down all the Darkside episodes off the youtube channels like DarksideSomeday and other greats. It's not like they're playing it on any channels! BRING BACK TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE TO YOUTUBE!

  • Its done my George Romero, so it cant be THAT bad, can it?

  • I LOVE THIS INTRO. THIS WAS LIKE MY FAVORITE HORROR SHOW FROM THE 80s. ITS FUN TO WATCH THIS LATE AT NIGHT,ITS MAKES IT MORE CREEPIER.

  • They should bring back Tales From The Darkside like Beavis and butthead are back on MTV.

  • i made a beat inspired by this

    s o u n d c l o u d . c o m /iceboymatt-tales-of-the-darkside

  • no spaces in soundcloud btw (:

  • i love this

  • I was in the US 23 years ago today as a kid and this was the first programme I watched at about 4am with my messed up body clock from the the long haul flight. Here in the UK it is not particularly well known, but to me it really makes me feel nostalgic. Great series...eerie credits!

  • Go to my channel uploaded some episodes

  • I just scared the LIVING SHIT out of my friend with this intro!

  • This show isn't half as scary as the success of that god-damn Twilight Saga.

  • Honestly, Goosebumps and Alone in the Dark still scare me more than this.

  • i love this show, and i can't wait for Halloween!

  • I agree. The intro is so creepy that it's the one thing I distinctly remember about this show almost thirty years later.Does it remind anyone else of Chiller Theatre?

  • not every episode was cheesy. the Ursa Minor episode was brilliant I think.

  • After so many years since this show was on TV and it can Still give you the Creeps to hear this Theme.....

  • This was the thing that kicked my ass as a kid.

  • This theme and the Night Gallery theme have to be the creepiest intros ever.

  • My mom used to do this whole intro just to scare the shit outta me as a kid, and then she always added the line from the end credits which scared me more than anything. That line "Try to enjoy the daylight"

  • @lilrockercutie2005 lmao your mom sounds cool

  • @lilrockercutie2005

hahah someone used to do the same thing to me it creeped me out! ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)

  • I used to love this show...still do, as cheesy as it is. But the intro is just as awesomely creepy as it always has been! Especially when the screen goes black and white....freaky!

  • Perfect dubstep intro!!!! Working on it.

  • Loved this series when i was a kid, this intro was so baddass!

  • anything 80s is fucking scary

  • @mysweetiepie92 it's something about 80's horror.it's after the cheesy "horror" of earlier years but before the pg-13 commercial era of the lately.80's horror didn't fuck around

  • @osp80 Yes, how true, how true, and then, those crazy Iowa "bunny people" started rioting over horror films, so now, instead of the story remaining ON the screen (as it had in the 1980s) folks are trying out in real life. I wonder if those Iowa "bunny" people thought it was better that the crime remained ON screen nowadays? Hmmm . ***The "bunny" thing was some midwestern attribute for the folks who were dressed in easter costumes whining about blood n' gore on film***

  • fuck you country side of town... stay away from the wilderness it's EVIL

  • i like this movie , shown late night

  • First time I saw this was about a year ago on Syfy, I think. Its so cheesy that its creepy as fuck...

  • still brings chills!

  • As cheesy as the actual show is, the intro still creeps me the fuck out.

  • @fyfytj I remember closing my ears when this song played.

  • @fyfytj ..........could not have said it better myself!

  • this one scared me as a little kid as well, especially when the screen turns dark and creepy at the end.

  • @MissLoriLove cool. Thnx for the info I'll check it out.

  • This intro scared me as a kid too. Does anyone remember the show Monsters? I think it was called monsters, I'm not too sure but the intro gave me the same feelings as this one.

  • @TexanHeat1 The show Monsters was a great show. It plays on a channel on TV called the Chiller Channel. The same channel plays all the Tales from the Darkside as well, both play pretty much every day. This intro is much creepier than the Montsters one to me lol.

  • mann i remember watching this as a kid and the intro allways scared the shit outta me.i would change the channel wait for the intro to end then put it back on.i thought i was the only one who did that but reading all these comments it looks like i wasnt alone lol

  • the narrator reminds me of Optimous Prime! bwahahahaha! tales from the TRANSFORMERS! bwahahahahahahahaha!

  • anytime an im being totally honest i walk through an area with houses that have trees closing above u this narration always comes to mind :p :p especially if its late in the evening with little light in otherwords i creep myself out

  • AAAAA, a beautiful series of suspense and terror.

    Excellent.

  • hahahaha! tech n9ne - "Paint a dark picture"

  • I used to watch this show a year ago or so. I remember a lot of the tales being very dark and grusome.

  • Imagine being on the bike trail pitch black at night alone with huge trees towering over you on each side. Kids don't try this at home. Nobody should try it ever

  • Just saw this on Syfy for the second time since two years ago. I don't remember running into this show too much before that if at all. Just to throw out a creepy scenario for you all, when I was younger I didn't like going on the bike trail close to sunset with the trees blocking the sun light. I always hated being left behind since I can't maintain a fast pace on a bike. I'm 19 now and I went on a bike ride with my dad at sunset and he was a mile ahead. I got the same feeling.

  • I keep thinking I see shit in those woods....Spooky!!!

  • @TheTitanrok Yes, your'e right: bear scat. Watch where you step in the woods; you could ruin a perfectly good pair of hiking boots! :)

  • Damn, this shit still raises the hair on my arms, even as an adult! And it is just crazy that the intro and ending credits are scarier than the damn show itself!

  • Yeah Effin creepy!

  • Whew! As a kid this fuckin scared me shitless. Now that I am older nothing has changed.

  • BUT!

  • I was a kid when this came out...the intro always scared me...the music is sooooo creepy lol

  • I don't think the episodes are scaryer then the intro

  • i love this intro... gives me the chills

  • OMG THIS MUSIC..... D:

  • what happened to these tales?

90's were the best and always will

  • @mabelxxxbsb They still pop up in syndication here and there. Here in the Chicago area, "METV" runs them late on Sunday nights for several months in rotation with other shows.

  • @mabelxxxbsb This show aired from 1983-1988.

  • The creepiest intro

  • There is a hidden message in this intro...A POWERFUL lesson that is very useful in life...

  • @ksly2010 what message?

  • @ATENakaATON People don't seem to undersatand that every coin has two sides....this intro is hinting that there is more to life than what we simply "see"....but since we don't see it, we ignore it. Sometimes ignorance is not bliss, and there will be consequences. Generally, there is a "dark side" to everything. Even the moon has it's dark side. If not balanced and understood, light can be to bright to bare and darkness will be to dark to see. Both aspects have ways of blinding us.

  • this use to scare the shit out of me when i was little ,and still does:\

  • lol tech n9ne and dirtball haha <3

  • There is never going to be a better intro than this, ever.

  • REASON & EMOTION;

The series 'V' is a fictional TV show that explains (revelation of method) what is really going on with the evil UFO creatures (real spirit Lucifer & spirit demon gods) on this earth. The John Carpenter movie 'THEY LIVE' is actually a docudrama that explained this fact about the UFO creatures 25 years ago, but most people care more about the foolish religion of sports than truth, freedom or saving their own lives! I have evidence. Private Investigator Sinne

  • Im glad Im not the only person this theme freaked out. My parents loved watching this show, when it would come on Id have to cover my ears and my mom would cover her hands over mine. Now it doesnt effect me much, but back then.......creepy

  • Spooky intro. I loved this show. So original.

  • I LOVE THE INTRO!!!

  • brings back memories =D

  • This and the Unsolved Mysteries theme have to be the creepiest intros ever made.

  • I used to run around the house yelling "Stupid! Stupid!" whenever this came on and I'd hear that intro theme. Absolutely, positively the most frightening horror music ever conceived.

  • BUTTTT!

  • YO..i used to be so scared of this when i was like 4 and it used to come on right after 21 jump street while my lil ass was sleep under the covers tryna hide from the tv..lol..this gave me nightmares about the devil for about weeks straight..then next thing u know about 4 oclock am some preacher guy comes on tv scaring me even more then it ends with prayer hands together on stained glass.then the american flag singing the anthem..then out gos the tv picture scaring me some more..lol

  • YO..i used to be so scared of this when i was like 4 and it used to come on right after 21 jump street while my lil ass was sleep under the covers tryna hide from the tv..lol..this gave me nightmares about the devil for about weeks straight..then next thing u know about 4 oclock am some preacher guy comes on tv scaring me even more then it ends with prayer hands together on stained glass.then the american flag singing the anthem..then out gos the tv scare me some more..lol

I WOULD B N THE BASEMENT PLAYN WATCHN MY AFTERSCHOOL CARTOONS ON TV THN AT A CERTAIN TIME THEY WOULD GO OFF N THIS WOULD COME ON...N MY LOR ASS WOULD HAUL ASS UPSTAIRS...LLS THIS SHIT SOUNDED SCARY, THIS SOME CREEPY SHIT! TO THIS DAY THIS SHIT STILL SENDS CHILLS UP MY SPINE...LOL

  • Oh god i still get the chills from this shit.

  • This used to be on tv when I was like 5. It scared the shit out of me.

  • I find the places shown where there is nobody to be quiet creepy and with that music playing *shutters*

  • Such beautiful scenery. Such terrifying music this show had hits and misses but over all it was pretty good.

  • creepiest intro ever

  • God I have been looking for this theme for years. When I was a little kid this intro frightened me more than anything else.

  • This theme used to scare the bajezus outta me... I had to look away and turn the volume down oor completely change the station when ever this theme song came on!!!! I could watch the actual episodes with no problem though... :/

  • OH MY GOSH!!!

  • Take a walk into deep woods by yourself around the time the sun is going down and use your imagination you can scare yourself pretty good thinking about scary shit.

  • @CelestialWoodway Moral of the story: don't take acid out in the woods if you're alone, and if you're with friends, don't take acid with friends who will try to "prank" you, especially if you're peaking just as the sun is starting to set....

  • BUT!!

  • I SWEAR I saw that bridge on an episode of The Middle today. I freaked out!

  • I've loved that show since i was a kind..the into is so awsome!!

  • best intro ever........

  • Man, I remember being a kid, and having to decide whether or not to watch this show. I knew if I did, I wouldn't be sleeping that night. Didn't even have to watch the whole episode; if I heard more than one second of the intro I was too scared to walk to my bedroom lol.

  • Th intro is so scary, like commentator dude. makes you wonder when you walk through the woods and its dark and shady even in the daylight. hehe. you here this.

  • they do not make tv series like this no more on tv, it was good to be a kid growing up in the 80s.

  • This intro used to have me shook as fuck when I was a kid lol.

  • Still scares the heck out of me! I was like 4 yrs old watching this wanting to be scared.

  • this show TERRIFIED me to the bone when i was little.honestly if i were in a dark dream and that music played it take the browns to the superbowl

  • This shit is fucken scary man! Im 21 n fuck its disturbing!! :0

  • It's crazy that this intro, which scared the shit out of me when I was a kid, still makes me feel uneasy.

  • @RDarth

its the cords i tell ya. the music is evil!

  • @RDarth As the person below said it's the chords. Google "Viacom Logo History" the music they chose is just creepy as hell despite it only being the music for a logo. I think it being synth music also makes it worse since it adds to the unnatural and shrill sound.

  • @RDarth That cause your a pussy this isnt creepy at all listen to the theme of halloween or goosebump now that some freak shit.

  • i can write a verse a take the sun away darkness

  • this used to scare me back as a little kid in the 80s XD. damn they dont make em like they used to ...

  • They don't make 'em like they used to :(

  • shows like this was so good.

  • I swear that this is the suburbs

  • george a ramero did a few episodes of this series they were ok but they wernt as good as his night of the living dead or dawn of the dead

  • haha im watching this noww!

  • This use to scare the life out of me.. Back in the day i use to cut on the news after watching this just too get the "shookness" out of my system

  • When I was a kid in the 80s and this came on late at night, it scared the hell out of me every time. But I have to say, this cruddy 240p resolution does the intro absolutely ZERO justice.

  • The opening sequence is quite sexist, I think it would have been better if he said "Humanity lives in a sunlight world what they believe to be reality" instead of "Man/he" just to be gender neutral.

However though this was made during the 80s where Reaganeque Patriarchal values were the encouraged standardized 'norm' hence this is quite dated (since I noticed most of these episodes don't have strong female protagonists).

  • Comment removed

  • BTW, the voice was Paul Sparer, a veteran actor who was married for over 50 years (until his death in 1999) to Nancy "Livia Soprano" Marchand, no slouch as an actress herself. Sparer died during the first season of "The Sopranos" and Marchand, of course, followed her husband in death the following summer, leaving a gaping hole in the plot line, and especially the psychological motivations of the primary character, mother-pecked mobster Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini).

  • had to hit stop....too scary! LOL

  • i use to pull the covers over my head when this came on

  • @sanyo51

i thought i was the only one,

  • @sanyo51

i thought i was the only one

  • @ayomoss No, you weren't the only one! This theme music scared the hell out of me when I was a kid in the 80s... When it came on I used to rush to change the channel!

  • I also remember a show called "Monsters"... the one with the cyclops family getting ready for movie night.

  • OMG, after all these years, this intro still scares the shit out of me. THanks for posting

  • This is the best intro ever.

  • The theme and the creepy images were more spine-chilling for me than the actual episodes of the show. Even the "sunlit" scenes- stock footage of a covered bridge over a river, a babbling brook, farm buildings in the middle distance, a forest- looked ominous. Donald Rubinstein's synth-heavy music, the simple but recurring theme, and especially Paul Sparer's hair-raising narration all created the perfect atmosphere of foreboding. Too bad most of the episodes were rather lame...

  • @mackb909 I think some of the episodes are disturbing and good, but others are not...I liked the one with the manneqins.

  • @HomicidalDavid Ok, haven't seen that one- I'll check it out.

  • @HomicidalDavid

I believe there were three episodes with mannequins.

  • @mackb909 Yeah you won't say that about the closet monster one... I didn't sleep for weeks after staying up to watch that one.

  • @mackb909 Well, most of the episodes weren't really that scary, but they were indeed good entertainment.

  • @mackb909 dude has anyone ever told you how much you FUCKING ROCK!!! that speech made mel gibsons freedom speech from braveheart look like a little babys tantrum..your badass..

  • @mackb909 I kinda looked at this series as a "knock-off" of The Twilight Zone. Twilight Zone's episode were a lot more entertaining and still holds up today. Darkside's episode were fine back when first came out. Now a lot of the episodes, like "Hush" for example doesn't make alot of sense. I mean what's the point of a Noise Eater anyway? Then again this a TV show.... XD

  • "A place that is just as real....but not as brightly light" Lmmfao. I giggle every time I heard that.

  • Damn Nature, You Scary!!!

  • @blacsmiff I think it that it creeps people out a little, though, I have to admit

  • awesome mane

  • @kay77764 I wish I had a voice like that, the first thing I would do is get a job as a telemarketer and keep calling the same person back over and over until I scared him/her so much where they bought something

  • so awsome!

  • @yitz28 you are so right

  • the intro was scarier than any of the shows which always sucked and were never scary.

  • This song plays in my head sometimes..........Am I crazy?????

  • @blacsmiff not at all, i hum it to myself a lot

  • @haleyandrearobinson Thanks your a doll.

  • that forest is extremely scary looking it look like something from a nightmare and that not even good enough words for it. i really cant explain how scary that forest look. it just look creepy. matter a fact i think i know what it is the forest look dead that probably wat it is.

  • this theme use to scare me the crap out of me when i was little & it still scare me now that voice is so creepy. I remember recently late at night they play this on the scifi channel and i was sleep and that creepy voice woke me up & i change the channel real quik.
