if you have a usb or bluetooth guitar you can use it, but since the program is free, you usually just use the keyboard. you pick it up like a guitar, and use F1-F5 and the enter button

No seriously, search Youtube for Frets on Fire, its basically a freeware, fan-created clone for the PC of Guitar Hero. Instead of shredding with the GH guitar, you do so with your keyboard. Using the F1-F5 keys and the Enter (or Return, on some keyboards) as the strum bar. The only thing missing is the Whammy Bar...

Basically, GH2 has a totally revamped system. When you have a line of notes, like green to orange, you can just pick the green note then fret the rest, without picking. In GH1 it was pretty difficult to pull of, whereas GH2 it's almost automatic. FoF doesn't have this system at all, so this song is alot harder.
