yeh, the squier is a p.o.s. that is always either tuned too sharp or too flat, and the wiring is all fucked up and so you have to sit a certain way for it to work
@trueshinchan yeah the neck on that one was messed up...unfortunately the Ibanez I got to replace it has worse issues, so these days I can't put up any basslines of songs that I'd really like to put up...sucks.
@metalhead476 you can adjust the neck by either tightening or losening up the neck strut. there's an opening either on the headstock or where the neck ends at the body. there might be a plastic plate covering the hole.
i started learning notes when i was younger but when i stopped getting professional lessons i forgot all that i had learned so now it's back to square one. ain't so bad though.
getting mine in about a week or two, after classes
anyway, how long do you think it will take to develop even the smallest semblance of skill.
as in: how many hours a day, and if i stay consistent, how long do you think it will take me to have any skill?
one last thing. i know it seems stupid, but bass playing wont be my main thing, as i'm in college. do you think i gained an interest in playing music to late?
its never too late to start playing music. just stick with it and you will develop the skill. the more you work at it the better you will get. good luck and have fun with your bass :)
never to late to start. the world needs bass players so come join in!! its all about practice, ya gotta do as much as you can spare the time. easy to let things get in the way of practice too, quote frank zapper (i think) "if its not one thing its six other things!"
@ieatthat4breakfast i dont play bass but i can tell you this. im in college also and it aint my main thing or anything, got my guitar about a year ago, played it for 2 weeks, then due to an injury couldnt play it for like 3 months and then started again. an hour +/- a day, sometimes i dont play it at all... i also thought i was too old, but i can already see the results, i aint a meastro but ive mastered some offspring, soad, manson songs and continue to develop. good luck man, its well worth it
@ieatthat4breakfast when i played bass i used to play it late at night not plugged in, just practice, practice, practice but dont force youreself too much otherwise you wont find it fun. some good bands to start of for bass are blink 182, metallica, megadeth, muse and korn. Korn and muse are pretty hard sometimes but with enough practice you can do anything. good luck
me gusta el ritmo del bajo en esta cancion, pero claro, tambien amo esta cancion

basically i need to buy a new bass.

@metalhead476 sounds like your neck has a problem. Check to see if its parallel to the strings. you usually want it close to flat but never sunk.

@metalhead476 just dont buy ibanez then. try ltd or warwick rockbass (or warwicks if you can afford them)
