@Patkillskenny That's because case 5 was just an add-on storyline and never was a part of the game in Japan this didn't come out until the last game was released so they wouldn't be much point adding in an extra story in that doesn't link with anything, maybe they'll make it a short movie (highly doubt it)

Yes! I'm going to see this movie tomorrow. I live in Holland, it will be shown tomorrow at some festival and I stumbled upon it by luck. There were only 12 tickets left and I travelled across the country to get my hands on two of them. So now I'm going to see it tomorrow! (It has English subs instead of Dutch subs but I don't care.)

they are actually Japanese. It was English localization that brought the game seting in USA. The original game sets in Japan. BTW, haven't you noticed some truly Japanese details like frequent earthquakes, spirit medium villages, girls in ukata and samurai TV-shows?

@MetalHimera I'm not American, I'm British, but I thought there was that one place in America (California I believe) that was pretty much slap bang on a techtonic plate being very prone to Earthquakes. Also, this is supposedly set several years in the future so culture could've vastly changed. You make a good point though. Maybe I got too used to looking at anime people who show no ethnicity whatsoever.

By the way, von Karmas were living in USA in original version instead of Germany in English one. But they are ethnicaly Japanese.

I personally feel it was kind of a stupid idea to make this into a live action movie, this should be an anime series instead. You can't fit the genius of Phoenix Wright into 90 minutes, you need a 50 episodes long series for that.

Also, some of the characters look downright moronic, mainly because Takashi Miike (no offense against the man) stayed so true to the game. Let's face it, their outfits look awesome in the game, but look stupid in real life.

Since when is it futuristic? If you look very closely at the dates on case 4 in Ace Attorney, you'll see that 15 years ago was 2001, which means it's 2016 in the game. How would technology advance so fast between 2001 and 2016?

@SenseiTao The game may be set in that year, but we don't know when the movie is set in. All it says is 20XX, it can be 2099 for all we know. I find it harder to believe the lega system would move to the 3 day limit in such a short period than the holographic screens.

The game is set in 2016, as proven by Case 4's DL6 incident taking place 15 years ago from the time of the game, on Dec. 28, 2001. Every case takes place in that time, except Case 5, set in 2017.

@Deathwing43 It's the evidence I think. You know how in the game, when you show evidence, a small image appears near the person on the stand? That just appears on the screens. As for throwing them at each other... In the game, when the evidence incriminates, people have their over the top looks. I think that this is their way to replicate that,via throwing the evidence in their faces to startle them.
