  • Cl600 stock gets 12.1 @ 118mph and 4.1 m5 has 4.5 0 - 60 and 12.4 1/4 mile cl600 is faster go look up the specs yourself and see

  • To all the people saying its a pre 2003... It's not. If it was, then the M5 was in P400 mode. Also, the pre 2003 model would have trouble even keeping up with an E39 M5. More power, and less weight. It is indeed a TT model. If it weren't, this car would've been bus lengths behind,

  • Go race an '03 CL600 with stock 493hp and 590ft./lbs. I doubt any kind of intake is going to help you, and you may want to put the extra passenger in the Merc just to help you out.

  • were talking about the 2008 m5.. which bmwusa . com and a few other third party sites clearly state it going 4.7 0-60.. you might be talking about the 09 or 2010 model since you read it in the august 2009 motortrend.. being that 08 models are released in 07 it would be foolish that a late month 09 magazine is talking about a 2 year old car

  • The 2010 M5 and 2008 M5 are identical. And the test car that motortrend had was a 6 speed which BMW states is slower than its super fast shifting, close ratio, 7 speed SMG gearbox

  • lol dude since when do we race to 60? The race starts at 60. Look at 1/4 mile times:

    C63: 12.5s @ 113 MPH

    M5: 12.4s @118MPH

    Plain and simple the M5 will spank the C63 from a 30 roll or hell even a 60 roll

  • well i can tell you two things for sure.. 1. You didnt "smoke" an e63 without a mentally challenged person being the driver of the benz. 2. You DEFINITELY didnt smoke the 2010 E63 without a mentally challenged person behind the wheel of the benz. The new e63 is faster then the m5 hands down, and much more powerful. Its a full second faster then even the new m5 from 0-120mph (15.7 m5 - 14.7 e63) and has 465 pk ft lbs of torque at much Lower rpms lol.. e63 is way ahead of m5 as it stands right now

  • haha the new E63 has 11more hp than the last one yet more weight. The new one is a HUGE disappointment. Also, tq means nothing when you have gearing, and thanks to the M5s gearing it is always at or near 500hp. I re-raced the CL600 above (it has nearly 600lbft of tq) from a stop and thanks to my gearing I was ahead of him the whole time. Plain and simple the M5 will beat any E63 no problem.

  • The C63 that ran 0-60 in 3.9 sec was a rare machine and was tested on the east coast with a Density alt of -100 feet.... In the rest of the U.S. as in Michigan or Fl. or Cali, this same car did 0-60 in 4.2-4.3 sec... I know I did the testing........

  • The M engineering is truly incredible but Mercs are always the better balanced cars, offering performance + comfort, while in every review i've seen or read, ppl always mention that the m5 gearbox is jerky and the ride is too uncomfortable for its class and especially for the price tag. And another thing....i;ve seen info online that the m5 does the 0-60mph sprint in 4,7 while the cl 600 in 4,6 secs (just like the CL 63 AMG) - i am talking about the latest versions here, so how is the m5 faster?

  • M5 has a 7spd with better gearing, the same hp as the CL600 however it is lighter. Therefore the M5 is the faster car. The M5 can do 0-60 in 4.1s

    The M5 is a comfortable car when you want it to be, just slow the shifts down and put it in comfort mode, but thats not what the car was deisgned for. If you want comfort buy a lexus. If you want the ultimate in sport, handling, and luxury then buy an ///M

  • CL600 + Renntech tune = all over for the M5 in the straights until the M5 passes it in the corners . Love both cars but each has its strengths and weaknesses

  • Its a shame the M5 is a sedan, I dont have kids or want to look like I do. I will stick with my CL600. Its an amazing car and the sound of the V12 is silent in the cabin. I like BMW just fine but I prefer the luxury of my Benz...

  • Bro I don't think you know what you're talking about... the CL in this video is absolutely the revised MY03+ model with the V12 Biturbo engine. Look at any year CL600, it has the same V12 Badge on the fender... The rims? Those rims were not available until the MY03 facelift. Also this CL600 has the Brembo big brake calipers in the back, which were not available on the pre-MY03 CL600's... do your homework.

    As for racing the E55, the owner didnt wanna race. He told me to race the CL600, if i win then there is no point in him racing me cause I am clearly quicker.

  • Maui2010, I actually own a 'proper' S600 V12TT, and from field experience (haha) I know for sure that a V12TT car will eat up an N/A V10, no matter what planet you're from.

    And as far as flooring an automatic car, sure, it's not that hard, but don't forget that this is a twin turbo car, so prior to starting the race, the driver should downshift and spool up the turbos around 4500RPM...

  • he did down shift, he was in first gear in this race, which u can clearly see as he jumps ahead of me until i shift in to second. I honestly dont see why its soo hard to believe a 7 spd 500 hp 4000lb car, beat a 5spd 500hp 4500lb car. Physics clearly prove the M5 should win as it did

    Race a proper 600 or a proper 55K AMG car and you'll be in for a rude awakening guy.

  • In case you don't know (which you probably don't), the guy in the CL600 is by far the best driver I know. I actually race cars, starting with Rotax karts all the way to Formula Dodge in Skip Barber, and I can assure you the guy in the CL600 is *almost* equal with me in terms of driving. How? Who know's, he's European. So he knows how to drive that car like it's his girlfriend. You should see him in his STi...

    And physics prove the M5 would beat both E55 and CL600, hands down.

  • Having the sunroof and window opened has nothing to do with how much you know racing or cars. That's personal preference. It is much easier keeping it down so you don't have to roll it down every 30 seconds to talk to the other driver. Obviously keeping the windows up is better, but it doesn't have to do with how much you know about racing. And him knowing how to drive his STi means he knows how to drive his cars. Yes the two are much different, but he knows them both very well.

  • who cares how well u know the guy and how good he is at driving, facts are facts, a 2008 m5 will beat a 2005 cl600 anyday, doesnt matter whos driving, the point is only a fucking idiot would have done this race to begin with, the cl600 is a much heavier car then the m5 is and being that its 3 years older it lacks engine technology.. a 2008 benz will get more horsepower and torque out of a v12 twin turbocharged engine.. take that m5 and race an e63 amg.. youll get yourself embaressed

  • I have the Cl 600 and I have to agree this dumb ass of a driver was most likely in DC mode and not the D S mode even with all the traction control on, I spin my wheels on the take offs this guys launch in the CL was lame at best.
