  • Is it just me, or does Gordy ALWAYS get thrown into the turnbuckle and does a flip on it. It must have been his specialty.

  • Freebirds for the HOF !!!!!

  • good match

  • "The sound of America..."

Yeah, Tom Sawyer by Rush, which is a Canadian band. :P Nooob :P

  • God, i wish i could revisit these days. I used to go back to school on monday and talk to my friends all day long about these matches. This was real wrestling and these were real wrestlers.Nowdays i cant get past the first 10 minutes of a wrestling show. WTF has happaened to wrestling?!?!?!?

  • @mackiebub I sure wish I was there in those days to witness the excitement first hand of the Sportatorium. These new corporate arenas have no character at all!

  • Those were the days when the wrestlers were introduced after they made their way to the ring, entrance music and all.I felt that it gave wrestling legitimacy as a sport.

  • @songoku350 Pretty great way to insult the crown. An iconic Texas country artist singing a song about the greatness of Georgia. Brilliant

  • I guess the Von Erich boys wanted to take WCCW national but Fritz said no. It would have been interesting WCCW in New York competing with WWF

  • Can you imagine a Freebirds vs. Von Erichs clash at TODAY'S WWE pay-per-view?

  • The Von Erichs were bigger than the Dall-Ass Cowgirls in Tex-Ass during the early 80's......

  • Do I detect a bit of...envy?

    Yes...I do!

  • Terry Gordy was the baddest motherfucker around!!!!

  • anyone have a date for this match?

  • looks like 08/13/1983, if anyone else wanted to know...

  • I miss the great times of wrestling that lod could just destroy other rookies and andre the giant woudl crush his opponents etc. I miss them all good old days:(

  • i watched all this live as it happened so i am very emotionally involved. as i always was with every von erich match. i just cant understand what the point was of beating up buddy roberts for half an hour........

  • Von Erich = OVER. Those people were in love with them.

  • Dang, it's dark ?

couldnt you up the light a bit in an editing program?

  • this brings back memories of "sat. nite rasslin"

there will never be a feud like this

    it was EPIC!

RIP those no longer with us"

    David

  • I been to the sportatorium many time when I was a kid, abd even though it smell like piss and horse crap, it was a place that I still call a great wrestling atmosphere.

  • im not a fan of confederacy but that is a beautiful robe

  • It's the Georgia state flag. The Freebirds big gimmick was that they were from Georgia and fueded with the Von Erichs who were from Texas.

  • It's to dark to see the match.By the way,the

head gear that's on BJR was dun first in '82

in WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING when BUTCH

REED won a Cage Match over BUZZ SAWYER.BUZZ

wore that same type of head gear.

  • I wanted to go there so bad, i missed out, i live in chicago, and i think they came here once or twice but my mom hated that i watched wrestling, id give anything to go back in time and see the von erichs wrestle the freebirds, you guys that did are so lucky

  • GOOD GOD the Von Erich's get that insane pop they do anything... I didn't have a chance to get to the sportatorium before it closed, but it was a tin building. I imagine the acoustics were great.

  • kevin von erich said willie nelson played there and only there, i bet for the accustics

  • Did you all know since the WWE bought the von erich matches, they wont show the entrances to the ring because they dont want to pay for the rights for those songs played going to the ring. (except freebirds' "bad street" they own that) that sucks because i love to see the von erichs mobed by all those horny girls.

  • They can easily edit over the songs with their own generic music. They've done it on other dvds with old theme songs they've lost the rights to. I don't know why they just don't do that.

  • i subscribe to WWE 24/7 on demand ONLY because they've show some von erich matches, and they skip the entrances, and i didnt know why until i read they dont want to pay the rights. I wish they would show the entrances and put any music they want, just show it, we want to see it. vince mcmahon is cheap and stupid.

  • it's not a good financial move to get all the rights to the music just to gbe able to use it for a few seconds or minutes, some bands ask for way too much to use their music.

  • but in the 80s everyone was using music, and i guess bands we not asking for money, but i guess they were like, "hey they should be paying us to use our song"

  • yeah pretty much.

  • no the WWE doesn't own Badstreet USA,they are able to use it since the owner of the song,Michael Hayes, works for them and he gave them permission to use it.
