by the way, why does brand new car have one taillight burnt out? Ford man....that's what you get for building these things in Brazil or Columbia or where they build these things.
This car is much too big to call itself "Taurus". It's also priced itself out of the market that would have bought it on the name alone. I would have rather seen a smaller version of it as it's too much car and too big a price tag for most average working-class people. I predict that few people will buy it compared to their other models. They have messed with the "Taurus" name too many times. This isn't a Taurus and shouldn't even use that name. Remember the 500 fiasco?
The 2011 Ford Taurus SHO with ecoboost is really a big car. Its a good looking car. Ford Company reliability and build. The 3.5Liter V6 Twin Turbo Charged produces 365 Horse power. That's pretty bad ass. Touch Screen Navigation with blue tooth technology. Push Button Start and Voice Recognition. The interior is luxurious too.
@heartlessvietboy I guess "good looking" is subjective. With gas at $3 a gallon (or nearly $3), bigger cars are not what the majority of the population are wanting. I'm sure "some" people will buy this car, but I still believe the Fusion will outsell this humongous car hands down. Like I said before, they have messed with the name "Taurus" a few too many times. This has virtually nothing in common with the old name-sake. The public is not likely to be fooled.
you see, this is why they shouldnt get the guy from scott pilgrim vs the world to review cars, so what if it isnt that distinctive from the other tauruses, cant really tell the audi s5 from the rs5, the mercedes sl500 from sl65. some companies like to spend more on performance than looks and besides its still a great car
@soulweaponry well, 4368 lbs makes that pretty sluggish. You are paying a premium for the SHO, why does it still need $10K more in go fast parts to make it competitive and truly fun? Besides, it is still a taurus and it's still a ford product, I'll pass.
@lexter666 having known people whose fords have lasted 300k miles with just routine maintenance, while my honda has been in the shop countless times, I say go ahead and pass. If fools like you keep avoiding this car for the taurus name, it'll keep resale value down for the smart buyers out there to keep buying
It depends on the totality of the make of the engine. If you do the required maintenance and tune-ups, the Ford Taurus SHO can last you well over 300,000 miles. But abusing the engine will do some wear and tire. So take care of your car so that the second owner can have a reliable one to drive.
$37,500 is a Bargain for the Type of Build. The interior is well finished. The SHO is a V6 with V8 performance. Not only that it is a Twin Turbo Charged AWD pushing 350ft lbs of torque.
@dougttruong yeah, like a newer impala SS. I'm sorry but I don't want a 5.3L V8, FWD. Most people just don't get FWD's for performance. That's why the Mustang, Charger (300C srt8), G8/Corvette, CTS-V, and etc are usually bought for high performance muscle....they're RWD.
as Hotdrummer said,,,Drive the car you IDIOTS...You do not know what you are talking about...The SHO is a V6 and eats V8's....I drive one daily and I smoke tons of people
The Top 10 Family Cars for 2010 were named by the expert editors from Kelley Blue Books kbb,com and included the Ford Flex crossover, the Taurus full-size sedan and the Fusion Hybrid midsize sedan.
About the Flex, the editors said, If we had to pick an overall winner from our Top 10 Family Cars list, the 2010 Ford Flex might get the nod. It drives better than some mid-size sedans, offers comfortable seating for seven and boasts a long list of available interior amenities including an array of infotainment features and even a small refrigerator. Opt for the 355-horsepower twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine and you've got a full-featured family hot rod.
They described the Taurus as a visually striking technological tour de force. With features uncommon in its segment, a roomy cabin, cavernous trunk, and nimbleness that belies its size, the redesigned 2010 Ford Taurus is a family car that pleases everyone, including the driver.
Joining the growing chorus of rave reviews, they wrote, The Ford Fusion Hybrid isn't just the most fuel-efficient midsize sedan on the road, it's one of the best. Rated to return up to 41 mpg in the city*, the editors went on to say, the Fusion Hybrid will not only save you money at the pump on the next family trip, it will also keep everyone entertained with the latest SYNC voice-activated iPod and phone technology
I saw one of these on the road so I googled it and did some research. Might be a good daily driver in a year when no one buys it and it goes for 20k. You'd gotta be smoking crack to pay 38k for this
Ford wanted to go for the sleeper look; a regular looking car that has high performance. That's why it doesnt look much different than the regular Taurus.
People its 38k who is going to buy a Ford for 38,000, I am quite sure that the three people that are going to buy this car probably do not know anythingabout Mustangs and Chargers, and just got sick of the Audi.
wow i cannot believe this video has all that views. it must be really good! i saw one on the road and i was like "woah! is that a Ford?" beautiful vehicle
The Taurus SHO is a nice ride with the Ecoboost engine. 350hp is no doubt alot. But I think it would be nice to see the new 5.0L Weasel its way under the hood of the Taurus SHO. The over 400hp 5.0 Coped with a sophisticated AWD system would make the Taurus SHO a sub 5 second to 60mph car. And that would be awesome.
I'd also like to see a 5.0 under the hood of that car. Maybe a 6 speed manual tranny and rear wheel drive would be cool too. Call it the Taurus SHO-GT
@TheGizmo4382 I'd rather see the 5.0 with AWD. Better off the line launch and thats all that matters for a daily driver, not to mention you'll own the snow.
This car is already fatter than a mustang. That's comparing apples to oranges, The Mustang being a 2 door coupe and the Taures being a 4 door sedan, I just personally think it would be nice to see a V8 engine under its hood.
No doubt. I think it could run with 4.6L mustangs at least if it had the new 5.0L V8 underhood. But what can I say. I'm more of a V8 fan than a V6 fan. Just my opoion.
what did i say thats not true? making this car as fast as a mustang is pointless, you can have a mustang. this car is more powerfull than the v6 mustang and the current v8, which for its size, price and segment it should be
you "cant" compare the two cars. The mustang is faster do me a favor and look up the specs. Plus, and this is a big, one the upcoming V6 mustang has 300+ hp and gets 30mpg!! the mustang will always survive your just wrong!!
yes the mustang is faster, but giving the taurus the same 5.0 engine would make the sho look slow. and the mustang, if you can have the same power in a more luxurious, more practical car why not? that would shrink mustang sales. the sho has the ecoboost engine, thats enough for it, its fast with that one
@wendyspwnsu Oh for sure I understand, And performance that is easy on the wallet is a very good thing. But me personally I think it would be nice to see an optional V8 engine offered in this car.
Taurus is similarly priced as an Infinity with better build quality, higher performance, nicer trim and have room to put your clubs or take people to lunch.
Fuck blueskii.. he just a pissed off Ford vendor that got shitcanned cuz he couldn't make the cut anymore.
Dose anyone else think the price seems a little high? No doubt the SHO will be made in limited numbers, I think the trans package fits the vehicle just right, where as having a manual trans will push it into the mustang category.
@BMWdrivingpleasure yeah it does seem high too high if you ask me. If its 30k for all the bells and whistles than that my friend sounds like a nice buy.
Awesome Car. Ive test driven one twice now. Believe me they are wicked quick but enough of a sleeper to keep the cops off your ass. Very comfy ride.Really nice quality inside and out. Nice to see Ford making a comeback.
The SHO won't fail just because of a lack of manual as most cars people these days don't want a manual in this class of car. But I will agree that it should of had one.
Apparently those that did,...well.. did! November sales of 4660 is 10% less than October, and 22% less than sales of last years Taurus abomination. While Ford can kinda claim a 50% improvement in Nov sales as compared to Nov 08 (old Taurus/500) sales, the truth is that sales for this overpriced boat are already dropping off, now that every dealer has one...The largest dealer in the nation only has 2 on it's lot...What's that tell you?
@blueskysiii I went to go look at one, and only had one on the lot. And I've yet to see one on the road here. Problem is, I think the car is just too damn big. I bet alot of people were ready to buy one, only to realize the Taurus is more like a sedan crossover, It makes a crown victoria looks small, and that is no joke. I seen one parked beside a crown victoria. I think it is a nice looking car in/out, but better can be had for 51k in canadian money.
THank you. That's all I've been saying all along. This car is WAY overpriced, and I am beginning to think it is by design. Seriously, if you go on the Ford lot near you and see this albatross for $50K, and then see an over-priced Fusion at 30K, it actually looks like a good deal....hmmmm?....
The guy I was replying to was in Canada...derr...IF you are already seeing this new car on a new car lot at 3K below list, then I'm not sure if that is a good thing or bad? It could be good that Ford just threw out that ridiculous list price to see if it would stick, (and since it didn't) they are coming down to earth. The other (more likely) scenario is that just like all Ford's other cars, the resale values of the slightly used 2010 SHOsare already putting downward pressure in the tag.resale HA
better car like.??? i saw a black sho in the parking lot at best buy and ppl were STOPPING and looking, walking around it gwaking at its elegance. this car is beautiful. as for the size well... they dont call it a FULL SIZED car for nothing and some ppl still want a car that you can fit your family and all the things that accompey you to say... a beach or the store without buying an suv.
I hate the name Taurus with a passion. They were one of the biggest POS cars until they renamed the 500 after it. This new model looks better, but the name makes me hate it despite what it looks like. imo.
Everybody I know who has ever bought a Taurus, bought another. They must not be that bad. Here in Iowa they are pretty respected because they get around in everything. Every Camry on my block is stuck, they just don't have the power to move through a drift of snow. Fuck that Jap shit.
Then you're in that 5% group that doesn't think this car looks good. I've already seen about 10 new Taurus's so far on the road, it usually takes my four months to see 10 new Ford products.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Ford can't back up the customer experience of owning either a BMW or Benz, or any European car I can think of. They would have been better off selling this as a Volvo, because Volvo at least understands what service is. Ford's service departments are stale coffe in a styrofoam cup. Any of the Euros havw loaner cars & a Bosch coffee grinder latte maker with a cute receptionist. Ford's service department now speaks spanish as their 1st language. More Mexican wrench turners than drwallers at Ford
It's all a matter of preference and affordability. Most people can't afford a 5-series. Most people can't afford a C-class either. Ford, Chrysler, and GM are not trying to compete with $60k luxury cars. They can't and never will, and they know that. What they do is create a car like the SHO which is affordable for most people to own, and it has comparible or better performance than some of the more expensive luxury cars.
I wish people would just stop comparing everything to BMW or Mercedes.
I can't even believe I'm going to say this but, I think this Ford would out class that Mercedes Benz. Okay that just felt weird to say but the C class would be better suited. If they kept the options list low and price tag some place around 37-42k neighborhood.
The C class is smaller then the SHO in over all body length 182.3 vs 202.9.
The C Class has less power as well 268@6000 vs SHO's 365@5500.
The prices are what kill M.B. They are charging a lot for their name tag and even more for their OEM parts. That's what I "Think".
To get close to the HP you would have to get a MB E 550 at 382 HP but then price is over at $54,000. I'd just assume save the 20k extra (Financing, tax, intrest charges) . gas, insurance and labor costs and buy the SHO.
I love how their fusion commercials say it's the best mileage vehicle in it's class....(the fine print: only for the highway rating, which is the one they show on TV...)
Ford grabbed headlines when CR led off a news release by announcing that "Ford has secured its position as the only Detroit automaker with world-class reliability." It went on to mention instances where Ford cars outpace some Asian models and added that about 90% of Ford Motor cars have better than average reliability. GM and Chrysler can't make similar claims.
Well Skippy from family ties, the SHO edition isn't supposed to really "look" any different from any other Taurus. It's built to perform differently. In the tradition of the original SHO.
who are you ranting to? Are you even on the right video? If you use the reply button instead of the "post a text comment" it will eventually thread correctly...
yep...right down to the triangular vent scoop thingys...but don't dare say that on this post? this is UNION territory...Blast you for even suggesting that Ford;s Design engineers in India (the subcontracted ones they don't want you to know about) took a cue from an Asian manufacturer...
See back in the 90's the taurus was a damn realiable car. No joke can just too 350 000 km's if you treat it right. now they brought it back. smart move ford, way to finally do something right.
The G37 is a sport tourer targeting to middle aged business men, this is a go fast sedan, targeting the usual Mid-life crisis baldy, trying to regain his youth without going to crazy. Average Tauras buying age is 58, and that comes directly from ford.
It's still a Tauras...just a beefed up one It's just a bland car with a powerful engine. Give me a 535i x I'll pay the premium, it's worth ever penny. In 3 years you'll be lucky to get 12g's for this thing. no different than the Impala ss.
Sounds like you're over compensating for some lacking else where. Not to mention that beamer won't hold it's value that well either. Cars for the most part are a terrible investment. Plus that Ford is going to cost far less to repair than that beamer. I have owned Ford, Olds, Chevy, BMW, Dodge, Pontiac, Mercedes and Cadillac and have had to repair all. The American cars are far more economical to repair.
Yea, theres one problem with that statement. The Sho is a TT AWD car. Those are never cheap to repair. Sure, you have an american car, which tends to have cheaper parts, but you have a TT setup that runs up the price and AWD system. That in end will balance out almost with the BMW and Mercedes. American cars haven't been known to use TT setups so you're going to be in a surprise
Ummmm....Kelly blue book....top brands in terms of resale value: BMW and Mini. I don't pull facts out off my ass.
Obviously it's cheaper to repair a ford over a BMW. Imports are always more expensive to repair. So that arguement is pretty redundant, the question lies in which one these brands is known to have more mechnical issues?
BUICK, trust me I know. my parents worked for GM years ago. Not only that but Cadillacs are overrated and Buicks are underrated and are better built vehicles than Cadillacs IMO.
Hey Ford fans. If you want a closer look at how the features of the all-new 2010 Taurus stack up to some of its luxury competitors, come check out our channel!
Toyota's SUCK!! They have more recalls than anyone else. Their just real good at keeping it out of public view. Their quality hasn't been the same for 10 years. I will NEVER own another Toyota. I'd rather ride a dying camel. FORD ALL THE WAY!!
At 1:45 the guy says "Its kind of hard to figure out if this is really a SHO car instead of a regular Taurus" which just reveals how gay he is because that's the whole appeal of the car! Its kind of hard for metrosexuals to understand All-American Humble strength!
I think he meant (as many other reviewers have) that the difference in performance and handling really isn't there...If you must buy a "U.S." brand (just to keep the other union pukes from keying your car in the larking lot, just buy the base model, and save 15K. Add some decent brakes, and call it a day...
I guess I have to give props to Infiniti, I do respect those but only because they have the performance of a 370z and theyre probablly just as comfy as cadillac and the sound system in those things are insane.
2010 Ford Taurus SHO High-Performance Upgrades & Modifications
Coming late 2009. Performance upgrades for the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO with 365 hp EcoBoost V6. Exhaust, air filter, boost controller, boost gauges, turbo upgrades, intercooler upgrades, suspension and more!
This car is over priced, and full of options that will break and cost a bunch to repair...just like Ford planned it....avoid the option package, even if you MUST buy this boat...
These dumbfucks at Ford never fails to make me laugh. They spent all that money to come up with a shitty car like this new Taurus. They dropped a 365HP engine under the hood, and then they call it a "sports sedan".
Who needs 4300 pound of shitty clunker with gas-guzzling engine in it. It's yet another shitty fast, Detroit clunker, but get this: it can't turn and it can't stop.
Chevy + 50 Billion = GM sales down 20% for August. Now they've got a 60 day money back guarantee to try their junk out and return it if you don't like it, no questions asked.
Instead of talking about a sedan of which you have little knowledge-perhaps you would be better suited a another link speaking of something you do know about. Move to the country that your CEO of the company that made your car lives please.

what did i say thats not true? making this car as fast as a mustang is pointless, you can have a mustang. this car is more powerfull than the v6 mustang and the current v8, which for its size, price and segment it should be
EatmyDust1311 1 year ago
you "cant" compare the two cars. The mustang is faster do me a favor and look up the specs. Plus, and this is a big, one the upcoming V6 mustang has 300+ hp and gets 30mpg!! the mustang will always survive your just wrong!!
amerifight 1 year ago
yes the mustang is faster, but giving the taurus the same 5.0 engine would make the sho look slow. and the mustang, if you can have the same power in a more luxurious, more practical car why not? that would shrink mustang sales. the sho has the ecoboost engine, thats enough for it, its fast with that one
EatmyDust1311 1 year ago
@MercuryMorrison1 yah but u gota think about fuel economy thats what i think makes this car cool great power and easy on the wallet
wendyspwnsu 1 year ago
@wendyspwnsu Oh for sure I understand, And performance that is easy on the wallet is a very good thing. But me personally I think it would be nice to see an optional V8 engine offered in this car.
MercuryMorrison1 1 year ago
Taurus is similarly priced as an Infinity with better build quality, higher performance, nicer trim and have room to put your clubs or take people to lunch.
Fuck blueskii.. he just a pissed off Ford vendor that got shitcanned cuz he couldn't make the cut anymore.
Headshot426 2 years ago
Silly car...who would buy such a car over a nice rumbling V8 from a hemi or an LS 6.2L engine?
jeomars 2 years ago
Dose anyone else think the price seems a little high? No doubt the SHO will be made in limited numbers, I think the trans package fits the vehicle just right, where as having a manual trans will push it into the mustang category.
BMWdrivingpleasure 2 years ago
@BMWdrivingpleasure yeah it does seem high too high if you ask me. If its 30k for all the bells and whistles than that my friend sounds like a nice buy.

the SHO will fail due to the fact that it doesn't have a manual transmission
Konformation07 2 years ago
you were voted down on this, but you have a point, it almost begs to be manual with those twin turbos
pinpoint45 2 years ago
The SHO won't fail just because of a lack of manual as most cars people these days don't want a manual in this class of car. But I will agree that it should of had one.

Apparently those that did,...well.. did! November sales of 4660 is 10% less than October, and 22% less than sales of last years Taurus abomination. While Ford can kinda claim a 50% improvement in Nov sales as compared to Nov 08 (old Taurus/500) sales, the truth is that sales for this overpriced boat are already dropping off, now that every dealer has one...The largest dealer in the nation only has 2 on it's lot...What's that tell you?
blueskysiii 2 years ago
@blueskysiii I went to go look at one, and only had one on the lot. And I've yet to see one on the road here. Problem is, I think the car is just too damn big. I bet alot of people were ready to buy one, only to realize the Taurus is more like a sedan crossover, It makes a crown victoria looks small, and that is no joke. I seen one parked beside a crown victoria. I think it is a nice looking car in/out, but better can be had for 51k in canadian money.
blackdubsociety 2 years ago
THank you. That's all I've been saying all along. This car is WAY overpriced, and I am beginning to think it is by design. Seriously, if you go on the Ford lot near you and see this albatross for $50K, and then see an over-priced Fusion at 30K, it actually looks like a good deal....hmmmm?....
blueskysiii 2 years ago
wtf $50 ? idk what sho you were looking at but I just saw one at my local dealer for $35
Slayer553826 2 years ago
The guy I was replying to was in Canada...derr...IF you are already seeing this new car on a new car lot at 3K below list, then I'm not sure if that is a good thing or bad? It could be good that Ford just threw out that ridiculous list price to see if it would stick, (and since it didn't) they are coming down to earth. The other (more likely) scenario is that just like all Ford's other cars, the resale values of the slightly used 2010 SHOsare already putting downward pressure in the tag.resale HA
blueskysiii 2 years ago
ha ? ...ok
Slayer553826 2 years ago
better car like.??? i saw a black sho in the parking lot at best buy and ppl were STOPPING and looking, walking around it gwaking at its elegance. this car is beautiful. as for the size well... they dont call it a FULL SIZED car for nothing and some ppl still want a car that you can fit your family and all the things that accompey you to say... a beach or the store without buying an suv.

NO, they're not. They are mediocre cars. In this case, at inflated, non-competitive prices.

Everybody I know who has ever bought a Taurus, bought another. They must not be that bad. Here in Iowa they are pretty respected because they get around in everything. Every Camry on my block is stuck, they just don't have the power to move through a drift of snow. Fuck that Jap shit.

More Mexican wrench turners than drwallers at Ford
blueskysiii 2 years ago
It's all a matter of preference and affordability. Most people can't afford a 5-series. Most people can't afford a C-class either. Ford, Chrysler, and GM are not trying to compete with $60k luxury cars. They can't and never will, and they know that. What they do is create a car like the SHO which is affordable for most people to own, and it has comparible or better performance than some of the more expensive luxury cars.
I wish people would just stop comparing everything to BMW or Mercedes.

2010 Chrysler 300c awd
2010 Dodge Charger R/T AWD
2009 Pontiac G8 GXP

What would you add to the line up?
1jks 2 years ago
Mercedes-Benz B class
FerrariandBMW 2 years ago
I can't even believe I'm going to say this but, I think this Ford would out class that Mercedes Benz. Okay that just felt weird to say but the C class would be better suited. If they kept the options list low and price tag some place around 37-42k neighborhood.
1jks 2 years ago
you think? B class is a junk, how can you possibly have to just "think" Ford Taurus would beat a B class?
I don't think C class is a good comparison because of the size of the car
FerrariandBMW 2 years ago 2
The C class is smaller then the SHO in over all body length 182.3 vs 202.9.
The C Class has less power as well 268@6000 vs SHO's 365@5500.
The prices are what kill M.B. They are charging a lot for their name tag and even more for their OEM parts. That's what I "Think".
To get close to the HP you would have to get a MB E 550 at 382 HP but then price is over at $54,000. I'd just assume save the 20k extra (Financing, tax, intrest charges) . gas, insurance and labor costs and buy the SHO.

Six4a9 2 years ago
Sounds like you're over compensating for some lacking else where. Not to mention that beamer won't hold it's value that well either. Cars for the most part are a terrible investment. Plus that Ford is going to cost far less to repair than that beamer. I have owned Ford, Olds, Chevy, BMW, Dodge, Pontiac, Mercedes and Cadillac and have had to repair all. The American cars are far more economical to repair.
prairiedawn66 2 years ago 2
Yea, theres one problem with that statement. The Sho is a TT AWD car. Those are never cheap to repair. Sure, you have an american car, which tends to have cheaper parts, but you have a TT setup that runs up the price and AWD system. That in end will balance out almost with the BMW and Mercedes. American cars haven't been known to use TT setups so you're going to be in a surprise
Texarmageddon 2 years ago
Ummmm....Kelly blue book....top brands in terms of resale value: BMW and Mini. I don't pull facts out off my ass.
Obviously it's cheaper to repair a ford over a BMW. Imports are always more expensive to repair. So that arguement is pretty redundant, the question lies in which one these brands is known to have more mechnical issues?

my benz is five years old and hasnt been "repaired"same as my 6 year old mini cooper.tires,oil.,,what american car can bring that besides cadillac?
