That's because Dover used aftermarket products on their 1950's and 1960's elevators, such as Epco fixtures, GAL door operators, and some other equipment. But the cabs, machines, and controllers were Dover made, so this is because of the GAL door operator.
Yes, even if this is outdated, it certainly is better quality, and a modernized elevator of this age would NOT last 40 years like this elevator, if that.
Actually, the first Dover elevator (under the name Rotary Lift, which made the hydro auto lift and still makes them today) installed their first freight elevator in the vegetable section of Clarence Saunder's supermarket in downtown Memphis, TN. Source: Dover Elevators: A History by Jackson, Janas L.; 1989. The book was given to me by ThyssenKrupp Elevator.
Holeless and roped hydraulic elevators came out in the mid 1970's from Otis Elevator, and there was an ad on Ebay about the Otis Holeless Elevator, and it was from 1976.
I know the capacity is 2100 lbs, but it has the same size and passenger load as a 2000 lb. elevator, and the sign on the door is only for after hours use, like on weekends and nighttime hours. But this was on a weekday, so it was unlocked.
why do older dovers make thqt squeak noise when the doors open

I think UT Austin's Calhoun Hall elevator might have one of the first Dover elevators ever made.

How interesting, and I think Rotary Lift was founded in 1925.

Considering it's age, I doubt this installation is a holeless hydro.

Actually, the capacity is 2100 LBS. And if you noticed the sign on the door, it says "Elevator is locked after business hours,". What are they?

Yes, I certainly agree with you.

Nice Elevator and I like the old dover elevators and as you said they were well made.

Yes, but this elevator is not bad at all. However, the old time Westinghouse & Montgomery elevators were also well made.

Thanks, and I really like the old elevators, since they're well built, and last practically forever if well maintained.
