Twilight is good as it's own story, but it's not a "REAL VAMPIRE STORY" It's quite far from what is generally usually defined as a vampire. Things are taken to extra lengths with the strength and speed and the whole stupid day light sparkle shit. I want slightly stronger and faster, Blood drinking, Seducing, sun=burns, Stake to the heart kills kinda vampire. THAT'S a REAL vampire story.

Interview with a vampire and the buffy/angel serries did a good job with the vamps.

The show is BASED on the books by Charlaine Harris as detailed in the credits. The show is adapted from the books with certain exceptions for the purpose of TV.  I and many other love the books and I understand what you mean.

Certain aspects I have enjoyed from the book has been ommitted and new things added that I havent. But on the whole the show has been very well made, HBO is a preferential network to tackle the Charlaine Harris world compaired to other mainstream networks.

....known as Bill from his own words to sookie in the pilot episode....william can be shortened to will, liam, billy or bill...but in this case he prefers Bill to william...hence his name is bill. read dead until dark by charlaine harris (book in which true blood is based) this confirms this as the show is very close to altho not identical to the book. if you love the show you will no doubt enjoy the book.
