I can't get ours to work. i plug in my ipod and it sayd SYNC line in. and the ipod touch says accessory connected. but i cant listen to music no matter what i play.

@TheUFOeffect I think Sync Line In stands for your 3.5" jack. I think try pressing the Voice Command button and say "USB".

after having SYNC for about a year now, using it everyday, it has probably failed me maybe 15 times? If you, just download all of your library, and phonebook, spelled correctly, and its almost always right on. And this is an apple fanboy, speaking good of a Microsoft product. thats how good it is.

The only time I have issues with Sync not understanding the artist or track I choose is if the track in my mp3 player does not have all the info pertaining to the song title and artist name. I'd rule that out as user error, really. Otherwise the system works very well.

Mine acts the same way. It's a 2011 Mustang. Plus it's pretty unreliable in remembering what was playing when the engine was shut off. Sometimes it comes back to my device and sometimes it reverts back to AM 540. Also When I come back after shutting off the car it'll get stuck in the same track on my iPod. Next Track or Previous track won't work so I have to give it a new command to reset like Play genre or Play track so-n-so.  Hopefully Ford will fix it with a software upgrade soon.

If you downloaded you CD's from the Napster days, they aren't incoded and won't be found. Also, Sync has voice recognition and it improves over a period of time.

My wife and I love our 2009 Focus SES BUT we hate the sync system. I tried to use it to control my iPod but it wont understand the simplest of names. But what do you expect-it's from the ultimate KING of error messages and problems-Microsoft. I have to give it some credit-it works about 70% of the time... Just like my old computer. I now have a computer that actually does what I ask of it and it's logo is a piece of fruit.... Hey Ford, learn from you mistakes and don't go to Microsoft next time.

exactly. i just bought an '09 focus two days ago and the sync works great. it wasnt playing some of the songs i wanted it to at first, so i went on my itunes and discovered those songs werent named properly. simply name ur songs and keep them organized and sync should work just fine.

I just got an 09 fusion - Sync works great!!! I have quite a large library of songs in my ipod and it has been very accurate. On the note of Ford quality in general (referring to someone else's post), we are soon to beat the once top Toyota in terms of quality - check the facts :)

I got an 09 Fusion as well and I have not had problems with the voice recognition system. It once played track "Running" instead of "Run It", but I think it can be forgiven for that one.

I love my Sync. Maybe they made it better since this video. Mine works 95% of the time. It is quite possible that he didn't have the files correctly on the Ipod as well. If you are pulling the music from a flash drive you have to set the artist and title of the song in the properties of the file.

I have an '08 Fusion and the sync works great. I do have to say it was hard to use at first, but once you learn that you can not say the commands in a choppy manner, like Mike was, it will understand you every time.  For example, if you say a phone number, don't say 809, pause, 333, pause 4444, just say 8093334444 all in one.

I'm guessing your referring to the phone part? If so, there is no programming involved. If you have a bluetooth phone, sync is capable of searching through your phone book when you give it a name (provided your numbers are stored with a name in the book :P )

Most phones come with the voice system already, some states are now requiring hands free, but what this system is trying to do is overkill and obviously doesn't work. I use bluetooth (when needed) just fine when I'm driving, I don't need something that mimics what I already have for a higher cost.

So you are correct, despite what I personally think is a stupid reason for people to buy this car based on "this" Sync system. Ford is still posting as a whole, the biggest losses in it's history.

That will probg change in a couple years seeing has ford has finally done what they should have done 20 years ago and are starting to us global platforms to their products. The New Euro focus, Euro Fiesta and Taurus which are all on global platforms are not going to be released world wide but next year but also be finally released to the U.S. in 2010-2011. Which means Ford is finally bringing quality products in their car segment to the U.S. The new Euro Focus will crush the current one.

So it still comes down to voice recognition. It's just a matter of debate if Blueant (who are they?) does that better than Microsoft or not. You seemed to suggest Bluetooth as an alternative to voice recognition.

It's just that you seemed to crush homemadevids' will to hope that Sync's voice recognition will get better and instead suggested Bluetooth, as if it can replace voice dialing. Since voice dialing is necessary in order to not need to look down at any buttons, you have to choose between a service like Sync and a device like the Blueant Z9i.
