Fact: Every rider dopes. EVERY SINGLE PRO RIDER. Maybe a little , maybe a lot. But name a top rider and you are naming a doping controversy. The more accomplished the rider , the greater the controversy. The most accomplished rider, the most controversy. Football ( American and world), hockey, tennis, Basketball, baseball. etc they all do it and cycling gets the most coverage because they have the strictest testing. Put that same testing in Tennis etc and every top pro would come back positive.
Fact: Cycling has been full of doping since the end of WW 2 when Europe became awash with amphetamines.
Fact: Coppi once remarked, if 10 tabs kill, i would just take 9 and win.
Fact: Whether Lance doped or not, he is STILL (and probably always will be), the greatest cyclist to have ever ridden the TDF. When he dropped the hammer, NO ONE was capable of holding his musette never mind his wheel lol
@olternaut yes mate, no worries, music is very subjective ! I can go along with you, i wasn't in the mood for that track at the time... still not my type of stuff !!! all the best.... !
@bluetiege - I read so many comments like yours. They're very silly, really. For me, Armstrong took drugs (there's far too many indicators and it's very easy to manipulate chemicals/cells), has an addiction to power, a huge ego... but he's a fucking legend and a hero. Most inspiring person ever. Fuck drug cheats, but I'm willing to let him go on this one, just this once.
@triwillb I have read far to many comments like yours. Wanting to imagine stuff with no real evidence simply because "other guys did it." Please, do not sit on any jurys in the future, every person has a right to a fair trial. LOL
@creier20 ajaj aish..men,Alberto Contador have been to many state programs if your bike explanations as preparava and much more positive and really showed it to me to be an insult, because it is not like you and you can get others to think that the best now we earn running drugs. look give me grief all who think evil of alberto
@creier20 what a crap thing to say about a professional cyclist who has won the tour 3 times already. Lance Armstrong was an amazing cyclist to win tour 7times, but Contador is the man today!
@creier20 ive got a feeling contador might go for the big 7/8. but without surviving cancer he won't get the publics hearts and admiration. he might try and beat the record for tdf victorys but generations to come will always think of lance.
What were the times up Alpe D'Huez that year? I think Lance was a few seconds behind Pantani's record (i think, maybe even more 20 sec. back), but I wonder what Ullrich and the others had. Ullrich looked pretty grim until the last 3-5 km where he actually stabilized the gap and may have even decreased it by a few seconds. Great stage!
INCREDIBLE!!!! you cant help but notice the difference in the way lance climbs vs alberto contador. the way lance climbs is far more controlled. i feel through his body language sheer determination and drive while i see through contador the feel of absolute fury unleashed when he attacks.
@13tarmac if you look at this 2010 tdf contador climbs strikingly simular to lance. the way he lifts his legs high on each stroke and pulls upwards-not to mention high cadency and the way his body is arched and posture high up. change contadors face to lances and you will have trouble distinguishing them.
Lance is an inspiration. I don't care what people say about so-called doping allegations. Fact is he has tested negative to more other people in the top percentage of riders, that in itself must say something to you guys.
It's well known that 99% of the top riders use PH drugs.
It's so funny, they call this "The look" but all he did was look to see that his team member was cooked. He may have been sizing up Ulrich's facial expression or pedal stroke but mostly it was becasue his lead out was done
He doesnt hit a 6% hill at 55-60 kph, that's impossible. Any professional cyclist does easily that speed for decent distances so wtf are you saying like crap ?
If it's to say crap stfu. There for I'm an absolute fan of LA and I will always be, no matter what.
Armstrong is a fukken machine!!! He goes up a 6% grade faster then most can on a flat. In my opinion he is one of the finest athletes who has ever lived.
XsXeXrXbX it depends on too many factors to answer , age , weight , gears you have on your bike , how much you are trained , your max heart pulsations and a lot of other things.
for climbing I suggest a compact gear pack , use 34*2X gear accourding to how hard is the climb , with a 34*29 as last resort for 15% and up pendency.
try to keep 90-100 rpm and your heart frequency at about 80-85% of your max and remember to go as much agile as you can.
hey wut could happen if you exceed your heart frequency past that? Can you have a heart attack? I ride fixies and one time I tried climbing a long steep hill and my heart was going crazy. i was worried
@wobblegook No, I don't think you're going to have a heart attack. You are more likely to pass out than have a heart attack just from exercising alone. Also, your body will do it's best to make you stop before something bad happens, eg: lactic acid will build up until you literally can't keep going and you have to stop. But don't let this stop you keep training and be a pro in no time :).
oh and those mountans aren't as impressive as you think , especially huez that is around 7-8% , the way they climb it is , 23-25 km/h avg speed , you must be a moster to do that.
Absolute brilliant vid, the best! Cheers ogonzilla!!! go get em lance! whatever you do, whatever the outcome, you have a strong supporter in me, and you always have, always will! Thanks for being you!
He's saying he can't ride it because there is 3m of snow. I don't think even Lance can ride through 3m of snow unless he had a snow plough fitted to the front of his bike.
His incredible solo sprint to the finish looked more like the end of a bloody crit race than l'Alpe d'Huez at the Tour de France. If it was 1989 he would have won by 2 hours over Laurent Fignon.
This is by NO means against LeMond. Greg LeMond is the GREATEST cyclist of ALL time. This finish is just mind-boggling to say the least! Wow!!!!!

Q FENOMENO
He is far out of the ordinary. It's a proven fact that his heart is 1/3 larger than the average person's, his Vo2 maxis way higher than normal. He is not your standard human. He can endure far more pain than most and he recovers faster. This is all medically proven. He is a hero to many people that have nothing else. To wish him dead means you should rip your own ears off and jam white-hot forks into your eyes. Lance is a hero.
Keep up the fight against cancer, you lift the spirits of many.
Eddy Merckx actually tested positive three times. First in 1969, then in '73 and '75. And they were testing for many less substances back then. But, everyone else was doping too.
well athletes for other sports are trained in entirely different ways. Even though a tennis player on average only plays for a few hours , on rare occasions they have to play much longer periods. The same is true in cycling aswell, these athletes can cruise at a pace for hours on end but when they push each other its the strongest that will win.
of course it is but that doesnt reduce the efforts of athletes from other sports you self righteous jerk. There's more to sport than the physical exertion involved, mental strength and dedication to his profession is what won Lance his tours and it's the same across all sports.
Cycling seems like it would be grueling but from what littleI've seen, really Lance Armstong makes it look easy. Ppl trash him I see on the steroid thing but no matter what the case steroids cannot give you the drive or the heart and the will of a Winner- a Champion and this man is a true competitor -I'm inspired.
cycling is one of the top 2 hardest sports, but the tour is the hardest event in the whole history, nth can compared with this. and why do u people say that he has taken steroids? he has taken EPO, but still, he is the best. if u dont know why all these athletes are taking EPO, dont speak
Excuse me but I never said Armstrong took steroids. You need to go back and read my comment because I was complementing him. Resist the urge to jump the gun and cruxify someone before understanding whats going on.
GET A LIFE ftcycling and get my name right or don't use it all - the latter is more preferrable. Find somebody else to start up a stupid argument with REALLY you're such a waste of time. MORON.
strongest muscles of the human body used, body weight supported and combination of high muscle speed/low+med power allows the cyclist to train his cardio-vascular capacity longer and harder than athletes in any other sport bar none. isnt it obvious that pro cylcing is number one in the cardio-vascular suffering stakes?
Does anybody agree with me that Armstrong should do some of the Classics, and World championships, aswell as the Tour. The only thing that really annoys me about him is that people saying he is the best cyclis ever when Merckx won everything (including the tour 5 times). I would REALLY like Armstrong if he won some major euro classics, rather than being boring and just doing te Tour de France. It is fantastic for cycling in general that he is coming back. I may have to go and watch a mtn stage.
It will be a f***ing good tour this year! I think he will probably come back with Garmin- Chipotle, not Astana. Contador will win the tour overall, sorry!

no worries.
just train your agility and get some really agile gears for pendecies over 7%.
if you exceed that frequency you will have a lot of lactic acid in your legs and you can as well turn you bike and go down if it's a >10km >7%.
always go as much agile as you can , we don't need to go up at those speeds :D
nff87 2 years ago
look up "lactate threshold." you won't kill yourself - you'll just keep breathing faster until you have to stop pushing.

Keep up the fight against cancer, you lift the spirits of many.

a) There is no evidence that armstrong uses epo or HGH.
b) There is evidence that many other racers use these and other drugs.
c) Armstron make look other racers like kids on a 50 dollar bike.
ERGO:::
a) The other racers drugs are useless.
b) Armstrong has a better drug
c) Armstrong is so strong that defeats racers under EPO, HGH, Steroids, etc.
I choose B

Yup.

B? i hope you meant C. Lance is epic. and nice English dude...
velorider711 2 years ago
Lame. All the past winners were on better drugs? No. Not Hinault, not Merckx, not Coppi, not Lemond and NOT Armstrong.

Eddy Merckx actually tested positive three times. First in 1969, then in '73 and '75. And they were testing for many less substances back then. But, everyone else was doping too.

Positive for what?

I agree with w4ta, this video is a great motivational tool. This new version is pretty cool.

and they say that other sports are harder e.g. golf or besaball or footbal or basketball. they dont know anything and they talk lol
ftcycling 3 years ago
well athletes for other sports are trained in entirely different ways. Even though a tennis player on average only plays for a few hours , on rare occasions they have to play much longer periods. The same is true in cycling aswell, these athletes can cruise at a pace for hours on end but when they push each other its the strongest that will win.

this is one the hardest sport ever so silence
ftcycling 3 years ago
of course it is but that doesnt reduce the efforts of athletes from other sports you self righteous jerk. There's more to sport than the physical exertion involved, mental strength and dedication to his profession is what won Lance his tours and it's the same across all sports.

dude, he just told you to silence! haha

do you cycle competitively?
williboone 3 years ago
Cycling seems like it would be grueling but from what littleI've seen, really Lance Armstong makes it look easy. Ppl trash him I see on the steroid thing but no matter what the case steroids cannot give you the drive or the heart and the will of a Winner- a Champion and this man is a true competitor -I'm inspired.
ohworldgirl 3 years ago
cycling is one of the top 2 hardest sports, but the tour is the hardest event in the whole history, nth can compared with this. and why do u people say that he has taken steroids? he has taken EPO, but still, he is the best. if u dont know why all these athletes are taking EPO, dont speak
ftcycling 3 years ago
Excuse me but I never said Armstrong took steroids. You need to go back and read my comment because I was complementing him. Resist the urge to jump the gun and cruxify someone before understanding whats going on.

GET A LIFE ftcycling and get my name right or don't use it all - the latter is more preferrable. Find somebody else to start up a stupid argument with REALLY you're such a waste of time. MORON.

strongest muscles of the human body used, body weight supported and combination of high muscle speed/low+med power allows the cyclist to train his cardio-vascular capacity longer and harder than athletes in any other sport bar none. isnt it obvious that pro cylcing is number one in the cardio-vascular suffering stakes?
jimmykrugerrand 2 years ago
Sorry mate but XC skiing has cycling beat in terms of cardiovascular suffering.
dma30 2 years ago
wrong because the muscles aren't supported so you have to use more and they stop before you can achieve any sort of strenuous exercise.

I may have to go and watch a mtn stage.

i cant belive it the machine himself id making a comeback
mattylinz 3 years ago
It will be a f***ing good tour this year! I think he will probably come back with Garmin- Chipotle, not Astana. Contador will win the tour overall, sorry!
