they should realease a dvd or bluray or somethin about this show at hammerstein ball. real fans would buy it. I would. Yo, mister big cigar behind a desk; make some bucks outtta this so we can get a proper rock show.
@1986uno45s Flea recorded bass on two songs with Jane's Addiction. "Kettle Whistle" and "So What!" off of Kettle Whistle. Not sure if he wrote the parts or just recorded them though.
@1986uno45s To clarify Navarro was guitarist no. 5 for the Chili Peppers. #1 is the guy who played on their 1st album. #2 is Hillel Slovak who played on Freaky Styley and Uplift Mofo Party Plan. #3 is John Frusciante who joined after Hillel died and played on Mother's Milk and Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik. #4 is Arik Marshall who filled in after Frusciante left during the middle of the tour. Finally, Navarro came along and played on One Hot Minute. Okay, I'm happy now.
@drewper73 - YEAH! I love Dave and I have ALWAYS loved the Chili Peppers, but man, i did NOT like them together. One Hot Minute was a weak point for all. Can not wait to hear what they do with Josh Klinghoffer!
@britard0104 I know its Flea man! I was responding to the fact Avery has left JA and Duff will be replacing him. No harm no foul!! After re-reading my post I can understand the confusion!! Have great week!!!
This song just kicks ass all over the place. When his vocal kicks in at 1:25 and hangs suspended over that nasty groove, it captures what rock is all about. Beautiful.
He may be confusing it with ReadyMade by the Chili Peppers... With Flea having played it before it may have been an intentional sample by him... It's not identical but close enough and in the same key... Our band used the mountain song once to intro readymade and people were ready to punch us cuz they thought they were getting the mountain song... never again haha
@Lulzrustypipes This song is from 1988's 'Nothing's Shocking' album, with Eric Avery credited as 'bass and acoustic guitar' (Flea is also credited as a guest musician but only as 'horns' for 'Idiots rule'). The video is from 1997, NINE years after the original track was recorded and after Eric had left the band. Flea then temporarily joined JA's when RHCP were on hiatus but only for live performances. He has never written/ recorded any bass lines for JA's though I'm sure he is more than capable!
@Barefoot67 I was replying to Lulzrustypipes comment that the 'Mountain Song' bass line was written by Flea when in fact it was written by Eric Avery and that it came out in 1988 long before Flea played live bass for JA ;-) Stupid Youtube's new comments layout means that the it isn't obvious as to which comment I was replying to. You are right, 'Stop' is indeed from Ritual. And the bass line was still written by Eric Avery and not Flea :-p
@Lulzrustypipes Not sure what you mean by Dave Navarro being 'guitarist 2'? He was the first and only guitarist in JA, and he was number 3 in the RCHP joining only after Hillel Slovak died in 1988 (might be a year out) and then a few years later when John Frusciante left for the first time.
CD plz

This song makes me wanna fight, drag race in oncoming traffic, go on a rollercoaster without safety harnesses, or do something potentially lethal.
but what i ACTUALLY do is just listen to more Juana's Addicion :)
