  • have you timed 0-60? thinking about getting this bike with a restriction :)

  • Scotswood Road :)

  • hi, i've got a yamaha r125 atm and i passed back in feburary and when i get the money i will change to a bike like this. I have ridden since i was 8 years old and i ride 450 motocross bikes all the time and have ridden 140hp sports bikes before, and i'd just like to say this restriction is bullshit. Why the fuck do i need 2 years to learn how to ride with 33hp? i'm gonna do everything possible to avoid restriciting it, hopefully just throttle pin it and screw it back in when the bacon pull me

  • get a second hand CDI unit for about £50 off the internet. i bought mine from sv650.org for £45 quid and fitted it myself. Its just a unit that you plug in and hey presto. take it for a dyno check to have paperwork to prove restriction.

before anyone says "that wouldnt prove restiction"......

yes i know, just like an insurance certificate doesnt prove insurance. but i am a traffic cop and that is what i have done. as long as its restricted you will be fine.

there is no law on this..yet

  • whats this bike like restricted fella.......looks ok on the video???

  • got my done now, cost me 180 quid with the blades in the air box and the throttle stop. atho i got told that the 33bhp ecu is 650quid!!!!

  • hi, i dont think it will b the ecu, but your best bet is to go to a small bike garage and ask them and they will tell you and proberly take it out for a good price, hope thts any help

  • i am getting an sv650s 03 plate. doesnt look like a pointy to me though not the really new style. will it be restricted by an ECU? thanks

  • alrihgt m8, just bought an sv for myself!!

was just wondering how much it cost to get your restirctor fitted?

  • hi, im not sure because i got it in the final price of my bike because i baught it from a dealership but im guessing about £100 bt thts just an estimate

  • @carty944 aftermarket restrictors are £170 BUT suzuki are now giving FREE restrictors to all applicable bikes IF you have the correct license.

  • @morgdgolfer99 hey i got an 07 sv 650 restricted and it cost me £100 pounds to get a new ecu but dont know about the cost for carbed models

  • @morgsgolfer99 hi pal......i bought an sv650s K9 on the 25th of last month after passing my test the same day. i bought a restrictor off the internet second hand for £45 and fit it myself. It is a CDI unit that you just plug in under the seat.

  • Hi, whats the top speed on the SV650 restricted?

Im trying to have a compotition with my mate.. :s

  • hi, the fastest i had was 117mph on a slight down hill that was all i could get just creaped up to tht spead lol, its now unrestricted and ive had 147 out of it cheers.

  • lol thats jokes i have got a sv650s that is restricted aswell and the top speed i have got mine is exactley the same 117mph, cant wait for my two years to be up then the restrictor comes off wooo lol

  • well a little birdy told me that you can go to many small bike garages and they will take the restriction out for about £60 no questions asked before your 2 years are up, but of course i didnt do that ;)

  • yh man! i had a day a few moths ago where it was massivly windy and i got it behind me down a hill and got the speedo reading 126 nearly shit myself cant wait for it to be unrestricted yh boi!

  • @carty944 147 on a sv650 i dont think so pal they top at 128 my srad gixxxer 600 only does 163

  • quick question, wat type of restictor u got on ur bike as its the 2005, is it still carb of fuel injected?

so does tht mean u have the ECU restictor?

  • hi, well im not too sure as the dealership didnt tell me wen i got it done but i have done some research and it has deffinatly got a throttle restriction on and as for the ECU im not too sure but im going to go back to the dealership soon so i can find out how it has been restricted,

i will let you know what they say wen i find out, cheers

  • mines a 2004 and i have the restriction paper work it has inlet blades washers in the airbox and and a throttle stop as you say

  • hi, i went back to the dealer and they told me the restriction is in the carbs so all they have done is put some washers in to reduce the fuel flow so this also affects the throttle cable so tht is why my throttle only turns a quater turn or so :s, but there is no restricted ECU on the bike, hope that helps.

  • sv 650 model k3-k5 are ecu

  • hey guys you got any idea how fast a 25KW/33BHP bike can go, im getting a 600RR 09 hopefully just wonder what speed it would hit in MPH if you guys can help thanks :) PS nice bike, my bro had one as a courtesy bike like, he loved it lol, said dead torquey =)

  • hi, well on my restricted sv iv had 115mph on a motorway and thts all i could get, but if u r lighter it will go faster im about 13st, and yea its dead torquey :) cheers for comment, the acceleration is still quick tho :)

  • nice :) fast enough for me anyway, so roughly about 110-120 iv been told thanks pal, im only like 9.5 stone :) lol, yeah thanks, iv heard even restricted still get there fast, nice bike anyway SV650 always nice

  • I turn 17 in 8 days, I'm selling my current bike and doing my A2 and getting something like a 400-600cc bike. But wont be riding until June 10th, had an accident broken foot in two places and in a cast its fun though.

  • bet you cant w8 2 gt on the new bike, do you know wat your guna get, did you break your foot on your bike?

  • I know I cant lol, I was looking at a DRZ400 but a bit tight for money lol. I'll probably get a 600 that may need a little work cheap and than do it so its A1 and ride it :D. Nah mate I rolled it in football.

  • CBR600 and other bikes like that are fairly high on insurance.

Some insurance companies wont even touch you till your 25.

  • Nice vid :), the comments are helpfull, cheers...

Ive just passsed my restricted access test :D as im 17, ive got a yamaha yzf r125, which is a very sporty riding postion and im looking for the same wats the SV`s riding postion like?..

  • cheers, well the riding postion isnt as sporty as say a gsxr, but it is still sporty with high pegs and a very comfy handel bar position it is a gr8 riding position for someone new to sports bikes, thanks

  • Im getting a 33BHP bike once iv passed my test, and as im 17 im thinking of an sv. Is it still quick enough restriced? I was possibly thinking of a VFR400. Cheers.

  • hi, yea its still quick, it easily beats cars off the line and at motorway speeds it still has plenty of power to get out of situations personally on motorways i travel at about 90mph bt shh lol and it still has abit more if you try. ive had 116mph out of it. but i cant wate to get the restriction out. what year sv where you thinking about getting myn is 2005 , any more quesions just ask, cheers.

  • the sv650 pretty much the best restricted bike. im getting one next week restricted.

  • yeah still quick enough, can still hit 100 eventually, my bro has cbr400 and his hit that with restrictors, without it hit 130 hope this helps

  • what is the 0-60time of this bike as its limited?

  • im not to sure exactly but next week i will hopefully put a 0-60 on but its not much slower. also with it bieing restricted it will top out at about 115mph, cheers
