@85trapper. Castor mounds work best in the spring. Personally, I use fresh castors right off a beaver I've caught from a different are. Just put a little gob on a stick, and use about a foot long piece of fresh poplar with a few scars made in the bark on a slide. Works great!
Change up lures man. I have had beaver before that just wouldnt come to backbreaker. I dont know why but they just wouldnt touch it. Try some Sweetwater Flattail Lure, good stuff. Besides that one time backbreaker has always worked very well for me. I use it for everything, fox, yote, beaver, etc.
