  • hello what site you recommend me to buy it on? and could you send a link if possible?

and the only bad part is the manufactured blade and handle?

  • man up! its a blister!

  • @Elkidify - I love taking advice about "manning up" from a guy who has a video of himself playing with stuffed animals and bmx video games. You seem very "manly" to me dude.

  • Love your name dude XD

  • That is my problem with CS. They have good designs. But the quality control is just rubbish. I guess it's all in keeping the price down. I was thinking of getting one of these, simply because they are so cheap. But then they require a lot of work. I have a heavy knife with a wooden handle, and instead of taking a file to the handle I just slid a piece of inner tube over the handle. that took care of some of the torquing in my hand.

    I really like your review.

  • @SpartanJohns - I sent this one out to be sharpened by Justin Gingrich of Ranger Knives - made a world of difference. This kukri is now one of my best choppers. I also added 3 full layers of ranger bands over the entire handle - again night and day difference. In retrospect there wasn't too much I had to do with this other than those two things. I really love this kukri machete now and would highly recommend it if you make those two modifications. Thanks for watching.

  • Did you get Justin to make a handle for this after?

  • @CliffStamp No the triple layer of ranger bands did the trick

  • @BSRadar100 No further splitting of the handle?

  • go try MTech kukri it is one of the best out there I promise and its only $30 bucks

  • Khukhris used by gurkha british soldiers

  • Hey khukhri is neplai word not enlish<

  • @yugmati neplai? lol

  • The $200 sk 5 cold steel kukri works just fine. It will take down a 3 inch round tree in 2 or three strings. When it's sharp you can do it in one if your lucky.

  • Oh, ans subbed ya.

  • A good ranger band that you can get at home is bicycle tire tubing. Cut it to any size you need, works great!

  • @RENOGUY777 That's exactly what I use. Don't buy "Ranger Bands" off the INTERNET. Make your own.

  • @BSRadar100 indeed.

  • oh and if you want a thicker one with a nicer handle, just buy the actual kukri, not the kukri machete, cold steel makes 3 different models, or get a HI nepalese kukri, its like 9mm thick.

  • just watch the destruction tests of this knife and you will see how beastly this knife is, it gets batonned through a metal pole thats 1" or so thick, and wins. I agree it needs work though, the best thing ive seen for the handle so far is tennis racket tape, it makes it a beast, and i find the shape of the handle is great its just the texture that ruins it. I like to mod my knife though and I shortened my blade an inch and its much better feeling in hand.

  • I got one of these, I'm with you 100% on the handle. For extended cutting you NEED heavy duty work gloves. I'm planning to paracord wrap it and see if it's any better. If you disagree you either never used it or have not chopped for very long. Considering I lift weights and my hands are a giant callous I don't think having "pussy hands" is the issue.

  • @anonislegions - save your time with the para - wrap. I tried it and made the handle way too slippery. Get yourself some ranger bands the length of the handle and apply 3 layers to it. Worked perfect for me. I also had it sharpened and makes a world of difference. Still not the best at batoning - I prefer a thicker blade. However for the price you really can't beat it. Thanks for watching.

  • @BSRadar100 Thanks for the tip, I just paracord wrapped it today. I'll test it out and see how I like it. Mine has a completely redone edge on it, it's a full convex grind. I sharpen it hair shaving sharp using a block of wood with a piece of mouse pad glued on and strips of sand paper. Took a long time to file the edge to shape but it was worth the effort. The area close to the handle now has a very gradual edge so it's as sharp as possible, the spine is a perfect 90 degrees for de-barking .

  • @BSRadar100 Also, the paracord might not be slippery anymore after it gets covered in dirt and sweat. That's why I'm going to be chopping with it for a while.

  • I do agree that the handle angle is off from what it should be by a significant amount and puts a good amount of fatigue on the wrist. Also, the way the handle checkering is laid out on the handle; it creates a ridge that does create hotspots…solution: lightly sand the handle and wear gloves if heavy use is foreseen...for $23 i cannot and will not complain.

  • maybe you just hae pansy hands? lol i have had no problem...

  • @CPLBSS88 - I doubt you have ever taken yours out and chopped with it for 5 hours straight. I'm always amused at guys who leave jack-ass comments like this.

  • @BSRadar100

O common...don’t get dick hurt. Are you really that soft? Sorry if I offended you. I took mine on a two week canoe trip to the northern boundary waters. By all means presume all you want...not trying to be an ass, I work with my hands all day so I have a bit rougher hands than most.

  • @CPLBSS88 - Not offended at all - fact is if you look at most the comments here others will confirm as well that the handle design could be alot better. The ergonomics of the handle does dig into my hand a bit. Everybody has different size hands so this may not effect you. However, just because it does me doesn't mean I have "Pansy Hands". Just means that compared to the various other knives I have used and reviewed this handle is nowhere near as comfortable.

  • @CPLBSS88 - Lastly, I am reviewing equipment to share what works for me and what doesn't. This is based on my 8 year experience as an Infantry Soldier and an avid outdoors nut. I assure you my friend - I do not have "Pansy Hands" .

  • @BSRadar100 My god i cannot believer your still going on about it...I WAS KIDDING...sorry.

  • @CPLBSS88 - no worries - it's all good. Difficult to tell someone's sense of humor on the Internet. De safe and thanks for watching my vids. BTW - I love the boundary waters and in

fact the Cold Steel Kukri came with me last year on one of my trips as a back up to the Ontario SP8. It still is a great chopper.

  • @BSRadar100 My god i cannot believer your still going on about it...I WAS KIDDING...sorry. I think you have great vids and find them very informative...did you miss the "lol" as in funny or laughing...it was ment to be in good fun. obviously you do lots of shit.

  • BSRadar, what specific ranger bands did you buy? I see different size options out there.

  • @donotstealmythunder . Best thing to do is go to a cycling shop and ask if they have any used inner tubes Shops usually toss these out after they replace it for a new one. My local shop just gives them to me for free. You will wind up with various sizes. Choose one that is a bit smaller than the handle. Then cut strips the length of the handle and slide on. One over the other. I used three layers for mine to add cushion

  • @BSRadar100

Thanks for the info. 3 layers? Wouldn't that make the grip a bit too thick? I was thinking of just one layer.

  • @donotstealmythunder - Depends on your hands. I have smaller hands and found that 3 layers was not a problem. I recommend putting as many as your hand will allow. The reason for this is obvious- more layers =more cushion. As stated in my video the handle design is so poor that you need that extra protection even with gloves. 3 layers of tubing by no means makes it too big.

  • @donotstealmythunder ranger bands can be made to what ever size you want as they are just cut up bike tire inner tubes

  • I removed the handle and made a wood two pieces over it instead. It works very well and better then thie original grip. Though I liked the original one, so I bought another and leave this original handle on or maby remove it too and rap it with cord, I dont know yet. All in all the knive itself is good i like it for light wood work.

    Peace

  • id probly abuse it until the handle cracked off and than get some fabric and some epoxy at the hardware store and layer my own handle, than resume abuse, lol it wouldnt be nearly as nice as someones custom handle tho of course

  • @Taud - no but it would be a lot cheaper!! I figure when the handles crack completely off I'll just buy a new one for $18. I did however send this one in to Justin Gingrich of Ranger knives and had him put an edge on it. From the factory the edge is not even usable. Thanks for watching!!!
