Yeah I have to agree with you on this, this is nothing new or fascinating.

With any unsecured network that you connect to, you could easily just google the default administration configurations for the router that appears on the login prompt and gain access quite easily.

It's only when the admin account is not default AND the router is encrypted; is when things become interesting.
