I do miss the Aussie accent. I fell in love w/ Rick in the 70s when I was 7 years old and he was doing guest spots on variety shows and had his own cartoon show, "Mission Magic". I'm really more into the early 70s music of his, but I like some of the 80s and more recent stuff as well. It was so nice of him to give you guys that interview. I'm looking forward to seeing him on the cruise this year! Woo-Hoo!
if someone can say somthing to him, ive been looking for the song "desperate lives" for over 9 years he released it on a 45 in 1982 cant find it anywhere!!!!!!!!
Well if you really read what I said about him taking on the acting you would understand perfectly fine why he's not speaking with an Australian accent. It's a fact that a person no "foreign accent" gets more jobs in that business. Don't know why that's so difficult to understand really. lol
Don't let Hugh Jackman or Russell Crowe hear that! LOL But really nowadays you have the lead actors on "The Mentalist" and "House", and the past sitcom "Still Standing" and so many others who put on the American accent for their TV show character, but still keep their original Brit or Oz accents in their offscreen life. Rick may have if he just came over to US now. Two years ago for his dual GH characters, Rick spoke with a full Oz accent as "Eli Love". So he can put it back on if he wants to.
LOVE Rick. He never let his fame go to his head and has stayed so regular and accessible with his fans. He is such a sweetie in this interview, especially when he wasn't feeling 100%. Such a great guy!! Met him in each decade as many other fans also have. First time was 1972 NYC outside 16 Mag bldg, I was 18.

He wanted to get in to acting back in the days. So in order to get more jobs he had to learn how speak like an American.

He also came over in the early 70's, so it was expected of him to speak "American" in tv shows and movies back then.
