@badassgamer202 Hi there! I live down in Phoenix, but wish I could live in Payson it is so beautiful there. My job is here though. I took that footage off the Pine Trailhead. The parking for the trailhead was on the east side of route 87 and then the trail crosses over the highway. This meadow was on the west of 87, maybe a mile and a half in.....the meadow is off the trail and behind a gate with an environmental sign on the gate. I just got so lucky standing there to see them
@bombbros218 Hi bombbros, yes that's right by the Pine Trailhead. Always nice to meet other Arizonans on here. If you take the Pine Trail across 87 into the woods, you'll eventually come to a meadow on the right hand side, it's an enviromental rejuventation site, there's a sign marking it. The elk herd I saw that day ran across that meadow.
Hi Lily, that looks like Bradshaw Meadow to me...what a beautiful sight. We have a cabin in Pine and have hiked there many times but never saw anything like that.
Thanks for commenting! I didn't know the name of the meadow, thank you for telling me. It is off to the side of the Pine Trailhead? Right off of Highway 87. How lovely to have a cabin up in Pine! I would love that. I often go hiking there in summer to escape the Phoenix heat. I was so lucky that day to see the elk. It was such an amazing sight...one of my favorite and most memorable moments of all my hikes. Thanks again :).
You're correct, I apologize....I thought that was all still part of the Pine Trailhead. Does it change trail names once you walk across 87 then? I know it does lead ot Oak Spring, but I never made it there yet. I'm waiting for spring to go back and finish that trail. I got sidetracked int he meadow that day lol and ended up not getting to the spring. Thank you for explaining...

Oh, I love getting pictures (video) of wildlife.
This might sound weird, but I find when I'm hiking barefoot, I come upon a lot of wildlife.
Great post.

Hi Lily, are you sure that the meadow is next to the Pine Trailhead / Hwy 87?
It looks like the area close to, but west of there actually along the Oak Springs Trail. It heads west through Bradshaw Meadow and down to Oak Spring.
There is a lot of wildlife there because the two watering holes.
Awesome vid no matter where is is.
