My memory of this song is that the singles from our church were invited to a local nursing home after our Sunday morning service. We were asked to sing for the elderly. One girl brought an accompaniment tape of this song and all of us were just blown away weeping over the message. Later our singles pastor conveyed disappointment. He was wanting us to sing standard hymns so the elderly could sing along. They didn't "get it." I still get a warm sensation listening to the Holy Spirit's anointing.

The Imperials and Amy Grant were really the beginning of contemporary Christian music. These started back in the mid 70's.

Great music, it reaches out to the new generations of Christians and I'm sure the likes of Rich Mullins, Michael W. Smith, etc got a good base from these earlier groups for what is written and sung today.
