The interviewer is typical. On the one hand tries to steer certain answers/interpretations, and at the same time tries to catch Lee Kuan Yew on topics. Insightful to hear Lee Kuan Yew, always, but the interviewer destroyed the potential of what this interview could have been. It's quite obvious this interviewer doesn't truly give a sh t.
I believe that Charlie Rose, or any interviewer for that matter should ask the question he asks in this part of the interview: "What would you do today if you were 20 years old?" Because most of us viewers are younger than the Minister Mentor and we could all use feedback from a person whose lived a long and good life. I believe that the Minister Mentor in particular is particularly wise, has an examplar cast of mind and great eloquence in communicating his thoughts.
I don't like the journalist who keeps interrupting Lee with his useless remarks and questions and doesn't allow him to finish his idea... Lee Kwan Yew talks slow but he likes to finish his idea in full. He can't do that in this interview.
Charlie Rose doesn't know the difference between Shanghai and Beijing. He's probably thinking: "hell, what's the difference? They all have slant eyes." Which is pretty typical of most westerners.
