It's a backlit dash, called the supervision dash. when its off you can't see anything, just needles. It makes it easy to see during the day in bright light, and also dark (say going into a tunnel midday).

Sadly no, it only shows average MPH, not sure about the new ones though. It gets very decent mileage.

I wanting to hit myself for buying a Suzuki over a Kia, but eh, cars almost paid off now. I'm looking at the new '09 Optima's. Oh wow, that restyle looks great. Vaguely reminds me of my mom's Acura TSX! lol

The new one's hit the wrong note with me at first (probably because I love mine so much) but they're growing on me. Camry's did that when they released the current style.

Don't dog too hard on Suzuki's, those little Forenza's suprised the shit out of me when I had to test drive them, and they can handle to boot.

I wasn't sure about the '09 Optima at first either. It's grown on me quickly though. It's nothing original or exciting, but it's a good looking car anyway. I must admit the '09 Sonata was a better update though. Have you seen the interior? Wow! Interestingly enough, it's quite a bit more than the Optima even though it's basically the same car, just different V6s. There's like a $3k difference in price between the two fully loaded. About $1,200 difference in basic form. Optima is a better deal.

hey just in case your wondering kia is one hell of a car ive had 3 so far and only one i wouldnt advise gettin is the rio too many problems with the rio optima is the best car but the 4 cylinder is better on fuel

It moves decently, for its size it does well, one of the easiest engines to work on in KIA's lineup, except the previous 2.7, that one is a cakewalk.

The guages in the Optima are unique, very pretty and easy to read. I love my Kia, and the four cyl is the most powerful non-turboed I have ever driven. I love my Kia, and would never buy anything else. BTW, what is sticking out of the tape player?

Man the engine sounds the same as my fathers 3.5 V6 Kia sorento. I like the optima. I like all the Kias Oh and I like the sound system of the optima.Kia forever. Peace!

I like the interior of the new Optima's better, but I still prefer my car's (a 2004 EX V6) styling over the 2007 model's.

Also, the Optima has used the 2.7L V6 from the Tibby GT since for a while. My 2004 Optima EX V6 has the Tiburon GT Delta engine in it.

Your car (2007 V6) has the Mu engine in it.... not the Delta. The Delta was used until the 2006 models when it was replaced by the newer Mu engine (based off the Delta and also used in the new Tibby GT).

BTW, your 2007 V6 is not the Delta engine. Your car has the newer "Mu" engine that is found in the new Tiburon GT's.

The engine sounds exactly the same. The only differences between the Delta engine and the Mu engine is that the Mu engine has added CVVT and VIRS technology... which results in the engine giving out 15 more bhp.
