can you use the nanokontrol as a sort of clip launching tool - in a stripped down but similar way to an apc20 or launchpad? Just want to get familiar before investing in a bigger controller!
just curious is it flimsy with short life like the other nano products. cuz i played with the nanopad a bit but ended up taking it back because i was told it was only a matter of time before it went bust. but id figure the wear and tear on this would be a bit different? is it?
i need a wizard. i'm running the nanokontrol through logic studio 9.1.1. when hitting the mute/solo buttons, the light does not stay on when the effect is triggered. any help? i'm on mac os 10.5.8
Can you use it as a loop device for guitar or bass?
I mean, is there any way to plug it to a guitar amplifier or do you need to find some way to plug the guitar into your computer to use it as a loop station?
@Hoooo33 As if FL Studio would be a handicaped programm... haha... "is this possible to do in FL Studio??? Can you use this with F Studio???"... god damn...its just a sequenzer... ^^
@GregorEicher Ya. I really don't think they actually know what a MIDI keyboard really is... Which is kinda funny since they probably are considering buying one. ^_^
@Hoooo33 Yeah...but the best questions in forums are these: "where can i find a hip hop synthesizer, or a hip hop vsti???" ... "which plugin do i need to make this sound??" hahahaha...
@GregorEicher or just the question: "are you able to put hip hop drum samples on the 'machine' and play live"... Geez, something inside me died there.... :P
@mnlkthms Yes, i use ableton too... i prefer it nowadays... i started from scratch with FL studio in the year 2003, changed to Logic then and now im using Logic and Ableton. With Reaktor from NI Ableton is the most powerful sequenzer for me. I loved FL Studio, it was cool, and i think it still is, but its community and users are mostly whack and stereotype... they dont go out to find out something, theyr just asking qustions over questions... ^^
i've had minor issues with ableton being that it's so different from other d.a.w.s
but the way you can manipulate audio with it and mix and d.j. is incredible.i can only imagine what version 9 will be like but for right now i've got my hands VERY full with suite 8,when i jumped from live lite, to live intro to suite i had pretty much stopped coming outside for like months, yet i still have only scratched the surface of this program.i want to use reason 5 with it (via rewire)
@mnlkthms Yes, live is a bomb. It took me a lot of time to get really into lives structure and workflow, up to a half year or more... of course i was advantaged cuase i worked with several sequencers before, but it was a little bit hard to get on my level with live. and im still aint always into live. there are only a few things they annoy me in live, but the positive things are overwhelming. i think i will not update immediatley when 9 comes out, cause of the issues in the past with 7/8 update
@dankaiba No my son, i dont think you can use it with FL :D ... just forget it, give up to produce music, cause you will never make it work with FL... im so sorry for you my son, im so sorry! ... im asking myself what a FL user would do if someone tells him something like this?? hahahaa
@drummerblh2 go to the sweetwater site. There's a review on either the white or black version that explains how to get it "functional" with PT. PT8 seems to be the focus of the hassle, maybe earlier versions are more compatible?
Hi everyone, I use bcd3000 with traktor pro, and it working perfect, yesterday I bought nanokontrol I connected to computer and now for some reason in traktor pro bcd3000 its not working and the latency of knobs and faders in traktor pro is very low, works only BCD3000WDM in the audio setup choice menu, please this is driving me crazy....
I don't think you understand what automation is. Automation is not just turning the knob and leaving it at a some value you want. Automation means turning the knob to change the value of a parameter while recording... How fine the resolution of the controller is determines how smooth your automation recording will be. Turning the knob and leaving it at some point is not automation.
i said i wanted a unicorn not a nanoCUNTrol...lol....j/k i like this nanokontrol..$60??? not bad but the nanokey sucks....akai lpk25 midi velocity keyboard kicks ass at $69,,,,weeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for posting this video. I wanted to buy one of these to complement my other gear for MIDI DJing but I'm not so sure anymore. In a live setting, it helps when things just work and you don't have to worry about problems like the above as they can make very simple tasks very frustrating!
why didn't you do some cool shit with it, like make the first fader automate your dads balls onto your forehead, and with the second solo button, control the attack time of your cats meow.
Simon, why criticize? The interview is a good one -- I just got the nanoKontrol and found this was informative. You may think he's complaining, but I find he's showing subtleties that aren't readily apparent.
You are complaining ... about someone's interview complaining too much. AND you don't even own one!
Looks like Korg updated this. I just got the NanoKontrol and I can say for sure that the transport buttons are solid and are now 6 individual buttons instead of what looks like here to be a sheet of 6. On mine, if you press one, the surrounding buttons won't move at all. FYI, I have the black version
you say on the video that the knobs don't miss a thing, but i'm not so sure. the faders seems to be skipping a few. Can you check if the knobs are sending MIDI information in 1 to 1 step values acuratelly? The Korg Padkontrol sends MIDI information in 4 to 4 step values and that's horrible, that's why i'm reluctant to buy the NanoKontrol until someone prove me wrong ;D
Has anyone used this with logic express 8 I have both nano and logic but the peramiters dont save I always have to reassign peramiters.I need help please
As for Korg making you download the software, that's actually a good thing, IMO. There's nothing I hate more than buying a brand new product and installing it only to find out the software needs updating. Or worse yet, using old software and missing out on added features or functionality. At least this way, everyone who buys the product will have the latest software.
I tend to throw away or misplace driver CDs and end up downloading them anyway.
Great review! I was looking at the nanoKontrol and was curious to see how good it was. The button-sticking issue doesn't concern me all too much, but I really hope Korg will fix the MIDI information problem. For the price, you can't really complain too much, but I'd definitely buy one if that was fixed.
I think the buttons being able to stick is a blessing in disguise. Its great to have them set to momentary and then you keep it held down if you want something to stay on.
I'm having trouble connecting my nanokontrol to live. I know it is supposed to be as simple as clicking midi and assigning a knob or slider, but that is not working. any tips?
Well, I think this convinced me NOT to buy it. Really... it looks like a cheap bunch of plastic and would break if you looked at it too long. I think I'll save up and get something better made.
I just got this thing and the editor is nowjere to be found. Not even on the korg website. If you could send it to my email address I would be eternally grateful.
all i need to know was it hard to get use to the controllerstr8 out of the box besides reading the litterature?
im waiting in confidence for you to answer that will help a lot and make my decision wether i should purchase it. im definately getting the nano pad, just wanted to add the nano kontrol with it not that i need it but seems like an easy and short way to cut corners to work on my tracks or djing..
Stray411, the nanoKontrol because of its lower quality and materials used in the nano line offers different overall feel to each individual controller. My nanoKontrol does not have the same issues as you describe. I noticed this from testing out the demo model in the store for the nanoKeys, nanoPad & nanoKontrol. I was lucky enough to find a solid version but, alternatively, the casing seems to be coming apart... nothing glue won't fix. The coupon's for 50$ off Ableton.
yea i have the same problem with thebuttons getting stuck. i also feel that the transportsections buttons are too close to each other, but except of this its a solid unit. i gonna put up a showcase of the nanokontrol using it along with the torq dj software in a bit
