I can tell you with a large degree of certainty that there were close to 20,000 people there at the height of it. There were at least 3,000 people on the steps of the Justice Center alone! @2010GOP Are you suggesting that Democrats oppose business regulation? What the hell have you been smoking? I don't think you understand how the system actually works. Corporations spend millions on lobbyists with the singular goal of swaying your congressman's vote. I don't know about you, but I can't pay for a lobbyist and I'm far too busy to pester my congressman every second of every day. The result: Congress is bought and paid for. That is what the Occupy movement opposes.

@1Makyo Yes, they should be occupying Nancy Pelosi's vineyard, now that it's come out that she and her husband made millions in insider trading off the Visa IPO while she gamed legislation in her financial favor. But instead they are harassing conservative bloggers at private conferences.

@1Makyo There's an Occupy DC, too. Mobility is an issue for protestors because they're either employed (as is the case for 70% of them) or they don't have the resources because they're unemployed. People are protesting all over the world.

@AkatsukiPR0 It is counter productive to protest in Oakland or Seattle or Denver or Portland or Atlanta or LA because it doesn't accomplish anything resembling your stated goals, but it does damage local businesses and obstructs the normal flow of traffic to and from work and school and interferes with the peaceful assembly of everyday people as they enjoy, or used to enjoy, using the parks and streets and sidewalks where you demonstrate.

@AkatsukiPR0 Absolutely. Everyone who could possible get to DC to petition for redress for our grievances . This is where the rubber hits the road in this country. If we go there to impeach Obama. Remove Durbin and Frank and Shumer and Dodd and McCain and Lugar and well most ALL of these progressive politicians from office, just throw the bums out, I think there would be some results.Reduce the size of government. Reduce taxes. Deport illegals. Create jobs by cutting back on environmental regs.

@1Makyo We can cycle through as many politicians as we want, the lobbyists will still be there. We need real reform. Not politicians saying they support such and such movement like we saw with the Tea Party. We need representatives that represent the people, not just the Occupy people either, all of their constituents. Congress was meant to have representatives furiously representing their constituents and then creating policy through compromise. Now it's two teams controlled by the same people.

@AkatsukiPR0 Progressive democrat or progressive republican they are the same animal. We need to throw ALL these bums out of office. Who are the people you say are controlling our government now? Bankers? That is a gross oversimplification. Lobbyists? That is another over simplification. We will never be able to get the influence of money out of our daily lives, whether in government or the private sector.
Who are some of these phantom people you refer to. Can you name 5 of them?

I realize that all politicians are the same. Representatives aren't supposed to have an agenda, they're supposed to go to Washington for you and fight for their constituents. If they won't do that, we have to speak for ourselves, hence, OWS. Try this: Call the white house. See how far you get. Do you think that the multibillionaires on Wall Street have to deal with as much red tape as you do?

@1Makyo They are targeting those crisis creators (selfish risk takers) in the financial system that's why this is a leaderless movement. Asians and Chinese/Korean/Japan labors will endorse this method to ouster those crisis creators as their long struggle as well. They will have huge number of activists turn out and shake our world as well.
