  • Fuck that fat ogre Johnson, overrated as hell. He didn't do shit for boxing, he stole Corbett's style.

  • if u type in port saint lucie pal fights u will see my coach bill corbett, jim corbett was his great great grandfather

  • Jim was no doubt an important transitional figure in boxing. Still I personal have

difficulty naming him among the all time greatest mostly because he fought just

26 fights and officially only won about 64% of his fights. His greatest feat was

fighting Peter Jackson over 60 rounds. Is everybody on this site related to Jim or what? My uncle Paco from Mexico says my tia Juantia was his families maid.

    Guess I'm related too.

  • Is there any traning films or fight films (other than fitz) of Jim?

  • @g55coffia The most fascinating fighting footage I have ever seen is a film of Corbett sparring with Gene Tunney in 1925. It is well preserved, clear and at natural speed. It takes some searching but you can find it. I'm not sure, but I think it was made by Pathe films.

  • this is my great great great uncle

    cool huh

  • That makes u useless.

  • that's really cool...We have a national park in India, named after him.......That should shut all the mouths... :)

  • Dude, seriously!? He's was my great great great grandfather's cousin!

Does that mean we're related? XD

  • @siriustakara123 if this is true then capitalize on teh genetic and try ur luk in boxing

  • Ures 2? WTF! Hes related to me by my moms Side!!! Lola!

  • did he ever fight bare knuckle? If so are there any vids of those fights out there?

  • As far as I know, Corbett never fought with bare knuckles, at least not professionally. But Corbett had some fights (with Peter Jackson and Joe Choynski, for example) in which the gloves had minimal if any padding, I'm pretty sure there are no bare-knuckle-era fights on film. But there are several still photos of Sullivan's bare-knuckle championship bout with Kilrain in 1888.Most are available under Sullivan's bio on Wikipedia.

  • @PolakoMafia he never fought bare knuckle. but he did fight someone on a barge who was wearing skintight riding gloves

  • That was Joe Chloewinski that he fought who had the riding gloves. It is immortalized in the movie "Gentleman Jim" starring Errol Flynn as Corbett and Ward Bond as John L. Sullivan

  • There is a fairly watchable version of this fight out there somewhere. It was used in the Oscar-winning 1967 documentary "The Legendary Champions." It didn't constantly fade to black.

  • @Lava1964 there's watchable quality footage of corbett on youtube. search corbett fitsimmons

  • Thanks, fellows !

  • Thanks for posting...a good way to ensure this film is available to the public

  • Thank you ihs1958 for posting these videos. I had never expected to see footage of these great fighters. As for the complainers you cannot understand boxing or anything else for that matter unless you understand its history.`

  • if you don't like it, don't watch it

  • @jhs1958 How are you supposed to know if you like it or not if you don't watch it?

  • @jhs1958 I srarted watching it and realised I don't like it.

    WHAT SHOULD I DO?

  • @jensbuhler Ax yo mammy

  • @jhs1958 Ax? Go back to the ghetto, mate.

  • so?it's still bad.

  • lava what the hell are you talking about?? the man fought in the 1890's, cameras were invented in the 1880's, thats why the quality was bad.

  • Hardly worth posting. Poor quality.

  • indeed.

why did they use a shitty camera back then. for christ sake.

  • Although certainly primitive by 21st century standards, these films were state-of-the-art in the 1890s.

  • @assblaster17 lol
