@Ricjamez101 Since this video is well over a year old, I understand that and have since learned the error of my ways. In our family we have always referred to this as Cincinnati Chili. I understand that this regional favorite is made differently than I have prepared it. If you have a good recipe for this dish, you should make a video and let us see what the real thing looks like. Thanks for commenting. Noreen : )
This brought back alot of memories for me i grew up in cincinnati, I can remember eating it on cheese coneys,, on 5 ways also ... yum yum thanks great video!!!!
by now you know this is more like a tex mex chili and not cincinnati. btw so happy to see someone doing video with a nice clean stove especially the rings. some ppl on YT should be embarrassed to show where they cook..yuck
@KissHope I agree about the clean stove thing! I try really hard to make sure that my kitchen is clean before I tape, because I would be so embarrassed to know that anything should look less than spotless. I mean we are not perfect by any stretch, but I do my best. As far as the chili, I have been schooled that this style is more than just served on top of pasta. Thanks for watching and commenting. Noreen
The only thing that stinks in this is the red kidney beans.I can only stand them on a salad. My Mother put the beans in her nasty tasting chili and I still hate it.I love chili w/o the beans and with steak in it.
Just fyi, in Cincinnati style chili, the beef isn't browned. Its simply thrown into water with the spices, tomato paste & water & cooked for hours & hours. Its what makes the beef so tender.
Your's look good too but Cincy chili is really thin.
In Cincy, they sell spice packets called "Cincinnati style chili". All you add is the beef, water & tomato paste. You might be able to get in online & try it?
Your kitchen will smell wonderful for days! Serious! LOL!
No, in this region you can buy them in the grocery stores though. You can buy skyline by the can or frozen in tubs too.
The packet is called 'cincinnati recipe chili mix'. The packet has a phone number for mail order questions. Its 1-800-443-4371. The name of the company is "skyTIME inc"..
"Gold Star Chili" (another large chili parlor chain up here)also sells packets. I'm not a big fan of Gold Star but many people are. You can order thier chili(packet or cans) too 1-800-643-0465.
There is a common misconception that "Cincinnati style chili" means it's just any old chili over pasta. Cincinnati style chili is about the chili not a 3,4, or 5 way. BTW, those Cincinnati Style Chili packets are the bomb. I haven't made chili any other way in probably 10 years.
I realize that this is not authentic "Cincinnati Chili" This is what we have always called chili over spaghetti in my family. If you would like to see a really great authentic version, check out "bettyskitchen" channel. She is great and she does an authentic version. This is just what we do and we think it is fun.
You're so Right! Not Cinci! I learned to make it in a restaurant I cooked at. Browning the meat? 1st mistake. Greek immigrants Tom & John Kiradjieff began serving the chili in 1922 at their hot dog stand. Tom invented the style by modifying a traditional Greek stew & serving it on hot dogs & spaghetti. I'm having it for dinner tonight I make it w/ grnd Buffalo.(Healthier) Apple Cider Vinegar brings out the flavors. Skyline & Goldstar are the most common. Order them online for the real taste.
That its Noreen!! i'm moving in with you. lolol We had the hurry up lasagna last night. Very Good. My husband even loved it and he's very picky so 2 thumbs up!
This looks delish! Never tried making my own seasoning mix but it sounds economical and tasty so I'm going to. Thanks for another night of "help" this week. Think I will try it over macaroni...chili mac!
Corn Flour, Corn Meal, all the same, only some are more finely ground. I used some really finely ground corn meal. Not course ground, or stone ground. I guess you just have to use what you have, I don't know that it makes that much difference. Thanks for posting and subscribing! Noreen
Thats not even close to cincinatti chili

Looks and sounds good, but it is not Cincy style....Cincy chili spices give it a unique taste...not just served over pasta....
