And the Carolina beaches are all sand and the waves break even and they're not choppy. The water's warm too. In California the water is cold as shit all year long and all the beaches are rocky.
ive gone down there 3 days straight now im going again. the waves are nice there but they pretty much never get this big. love folly amd nice video was this hurricane earl?
I've got a question for the Folly Beach / Washout locals. I grew up surfing in FL. I've been to Isle of Palms and Folly, but not the Washout. I go back and forth between surfing and bodyboarding, depending on the waves. I know how to handle myself in the water, but I've heard the Washout is unusually aggressive. Just how aggressive is it? Do the locals always have a problem with non-locals? If I'm bodyboarding, is that going to start a fight?
@bigbadbucksnort Nah they are chill don here as long as your not a dick and take others waves you'll be fine man it's the south remember that good old hospitality. :)
Nice vid and love the music, perfect.I have a sister that used to live in Sommerville,SC now lives in Huger. It was my sis and her husband that took me to Folly Beach.Beautiful place.A lifelong resident of Ohio,Folly Beach is a paradise.Going to visit them again in a few months, back to the beach, maybe I should just move there too.Hmmmm..
The east coast can get just as big on a good hurricane swell. Born and raised in Chucktown, I surfed Folly Beach every possible time I could. Dawn Patrol, sun up to sun down. The biggest day I ever saw was Hurricane Bonnie in 98. At 15-18 it was no joke. I like beach breaks better than reef breaks, and the warm water of the Atlantic beats any day in Cali for me.
To all the a-holes who have nothing good to say like "I feel bad for you east coast guys, this video is labeled as big waves, those aren't big, sorry." Um, no this video isn't labeled as "big waves," it's labeled as "Folly Beach Surfing - The Washout." The description explains that it's 1 of the bigger days that the poster has seen at this 1 particular spot. This isn't a competition. Folly Beach is cool people & it's not in California, which is another good reason to love it. Get over yourself.
ive been to the washout before, it was really cold and the waves werent that good the day i surfed it but i watched my friend surf the washout the mornin after and it looked sick
you cant miss it, there will only be about 80 cars parked on the ocean side of the street in pay parking. Come one, come all i say b/c i dont feel threatened unlike some people. i take what i want but i know how to give too..... and not cut people off !!! sharing and giving waves feels good. you should try it. most powerful surf in SC. no doubt
for anyone that wants to know how to get to the washout go down folly rd until it ends in front of a holiday inn. hang a left and drive approximately 2 miles. as soon as the trees are no longer lining the street you have reached the washout.
ha yea way bigger than this ive been to folly right before our last hurricane and they were bigger than this and thats not even the biggest ive seen out there
Folly breaks all ways, depends on the winds, the storm, the location and I've surfed Folly way bigger than this. Many hurricane swells have been much larger. Go to school, kid. Learn how to spell "you're" and learn to know what YOU'RE talking about
HAHA how about you learn to spell ALWAYS you dumb east coast fag. yeah the hurricane swells can this big but how about you try not to fake how good folly's waves really are you tool. Sorry carolina's education sucks balls and you spell always ALLWAYS. at least i was being lazy in spelling you're. I just took some great footage of north shore and posted it as folly. nice
um, he spelled "all ways" right. he meant "all ways" as in all types of ways. he did NOT mean "always" as in all the time because folly does not always break of course. no beach always breaks.
so you should probably learn to read before you call someone a dumb east coast fag. why don't you just shove a herpes laden cock deep into your already blown out asshole?
also folly does break like the video shows if the hurricane swell hits just right. so you're wrong.
yeah you would know a lot about herpes laden cocks wouldn't you, seeing as your dad raped you and your brother with one every night before you went to bed. you fucking fag. Charleston surf blows, you just rationalize that it's great because this is the only place you've ever lived or surfed.
yeah i need to go to school. haha that's a laugh seeing as you were born and raised here and charleston has one of the worst educations in the nation. right...
Wow, nice comeback retard. Another bit of advice, if you have nothing intelligent or relevant to say, keep your low IQ mouth shut because you just look dumber than you did below(if thats even possible). But first, learn basic grammar dumbass!
id say its pretty relevant seeing as you think that dumber is a word, why dont you go to east bay street have a few drinks and then blow dudes in the alley like you usually do on friday nights
My friend filmed this, and It definitely is folly beach. I should know, I live in Charleston. It wasn't a hurricane, just a strong low pressure system that came very close to shore for a while. Produced some sizable short period swell.
@jadibones yeah thats def at folly like my man said if there is a system or hurricane off our coast it gets rippin so obviously your bitch ass doesnt live here if you never seen it like this
@tommyAL1 yea youre right. it break s a lot better rather consistently especially for anything south of hatty and north of smyrn. but go ahead and keep tryin to convince people otherwise in a futile effort to keep it uncrowded b/c it can be 1 foot from the back and there will be 40-50 people out. but who cares?! there will only be 5 guys that can actually rip. so get a life punk and deal with the crowds bc they arent going anywhere.
@MattyKB Save your pity for folks that live in land-locked states, besides....why would Carolinians desire the cold Pacific when they have the warm Atlantic.
Hey. I'm surf every week out here in Cali but am looking forward to visiting Folly. Is there anyplace to rent a long board out there?
