  • love this song and many others by Cooke---he was some hottie--too bad he died the way he did--very cruel and soooooooooooo young--just a kid really!!

  • Been there, done that

  • Sam Cooke has always been my favorite singer. To me, he has the greatest voice ever. When Jackie Wilson was asked what he thought of Sam s voice, he simply said, GOD. I recorded Chain Gang in 2010, with a gospel feel and acapella. Only voice. Its on Brucevob on You Tube. Check it out. I think Sam would have liked it. He left us too soon.

  • NICE TO HEAR THESE SONGS AGAIN, THANKS

  • Sam Cooke changed my life...Every Nuance of a note. I love you Sam.

  • 'That's the sounds of the men working on the train' is what I thought it said at first.

  • I´m getting gooseflesh everytime i listen to this. It goes very deep ! One love Sam Cooke.

  • there's nothing like playing an old original record than a cd......nahhhh! not the right feeling. vinyl rockS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Now , this is what i call black musical heritage, real triumphant

Motown- feeling rushing through my veins. Most black artists (hiphop)

don´t even posses even slightiest talent nowadays.

  • @Jahkonen another ignorant comment made by another ignorant white person

  • @DeportAnchorBabies : another hastily wroted counterargument

made by insecure possible black person.

  • well I don't care what somebody might say ... I love this song :)

  • I don't care how many times you hear an old song on CD, you just haven't really heard it until you hear the original 45 version. And this one is definitely a classic. Went to #2 in 1960.

  • ~Laughed for a World Filled with Fantasyyyyy~

  • i really love how you got the video of the record playing =)

  • The first time I heard it, I was half asleep.. I thought that it said ' Sounds of the men working on the train'

  • Do you let it skip into the label for effect or stylus wear?

  • @amygdala51 both--

  • @amygdala51 Both!!!!!

  • Joyce thanks for this great classic, I feel

this is a "Message Song", and I love all

the great music that YOU Post, wonderful

Oldies and great record collection... I must

tell you, my friend YOU inspired Me, so I

see we both did it, now you are a pro and

I am just beginning. But YOU kind of really pushed me into posting, I guess we are OK. Luv, M*

  • Message to all of you who appreciate being able to listen to songs like this on YouTube..This video could have been removed like so many others have been on YT because of Copyright problems.

But the people at Universal Music came up with a better plan, one that makes all of us winners. On video's using their Music-they tell you where song can be purchased or downloaded.,When you love a song, you want to have it in your library so this works out good for everybody..

  • Thank you railwalker1. I liked all Sam's songs. Wish he was still here.

  • ...

All day long they're singin', mm

My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my work is so hard

    Give me water, I'm thirsty

  • Saw 2 buskers singing this today in Kingston upon Thames. Surrey. England Reminded me of all those great songs Sam performed, truly a worldwide talent.

Dont know much about his death, just that he was shot in a motel age 33

  • From what I understand a woman came out of a hotel screaming rape, Sam followed her out and was shot by an off duty police man. Such a tragic loss of life

  • I heard that a girl needed a ride to a motel and he offered .when he got to the motel the owner shot him and told the police it was self defense he tried to rape her

    Black on black crime SMH

  • yes you are correct. I looked this up after I had posted my comment and found that what I said to be wrong.

  • For me how he died is not nearly as important as that he once lived and made beautiful Music for us to enjoy forever.

  • I believe that too, thank you , cathy

  • Thank you for this song!

  • Thanks for posting this great classic.

  • It is still believed that he was set up and murdered and the motel owner and others had been paid off.

  • 3rd that shame he died so young!!
