The variation comes from Ivanov's 1890 one-act ballet CUPID'S PRANK.
Wikipedia tells us: interpolation - supplemental female variation (Mariinsky Theatre staging) (Riccardo Drigo?; from the ballet Cupid's Prank; 1890.)Johann Friedrich Franz Burgmüller's most performed piece is the so-called Peasant Pas de Deux added to Adolphe Adam's ballet Giselle for its 1841 premiere. This music was originally titled Souvenirs de Ratisbonne Pas de deux pour Mlle. Nathalie Fitzjames (aka Peasant pas de deux)
After much research I am sharing my findings TO THE QUESTION OF MUSIC for the alternate Peasant Pas Variation – I hope this helps to shed some light:
“according to RSEdgecombe's findings, spelled out in some detail in "A ragbag of ballet music oddments" [Brolga, December 2005], the female variation of the Peasant Pas de Deux danced in the current Kirov Ballet production of GISELLE, is a solo inserted by Vaganova for her 1932 staging of the ballet.
@mayaplezikaya From MUSIC SOURCE research I found the following: According to R.S.Edgecombe's findings, the female variation of the Peasant Pas de Deux danced in the current Kirov Ballet production of GISELLE, is a solo inserted by Vaganova for her 1932 staging of the ballet. The variation comes from Lev Ivanov's 1890 one-act ballet CUPID'S PRANK, also known as Les Espiègles de l'Amour. Score by Alexander Friedman with additional material taken from the works of Pugni. 1890.
I never critisised your dancing. That is as ovely as it can be. You are really a very stylish dancer as far as I can see from your vids.
I only stated that I think it a pity the producer put in a piece that has nothing to do with the peasant pas de deux from Giselle. And in that I'm NOT ignorant.
I have the score. And I saw neither the Bolshoi, Kiro, Paris Opera, Royal Ballet or other big companies do this piece.
@breechesman I guess this is not the original variation. you know, some original choreographies are changed so as to make it more 'personal' to the company or simply because some just don't like the original variation. I agree with you this is not the original peasant pas. but it is very common for companies to change the original choreo.
I learned this variation a couple weeks ago. This is the least used of the three variations that can be in this spot. I think I looked at twenty different videos before I found this. Thank you so much for posting this.

I am searching for this music. I cannot find it in any of my Giselle recordings. Could it possibly be in another ballet?

Does anyone know where this music comes from? I have been looking for it everywhere. It is not part of the original Giselle score.
