  • hello everyone i like photography and sometime i like to recording some video so i need your advice which the best cameras canon or nikon.....how about D700 or 5d i need camera for photos & videos if there is better than these cams PLZ HELP sorry 4 my bad Engish lol

  • sky is definitely more blue on the the 5d mark ii.

  • wow i have a 7d, but never knew the true different in the crop factor, it seems more than just 1,6 to me. im surprised how much it is

  • Annoying music and dizzying panning. Why not just do a sequential comparison and review? You also panned way too fast to conclude anything other than the cropped sensor showing less of the subject that the full frame sensor. Anyway the 5D Mark II takes better pictures. Everyone knows that.

  • apart from the obvious of full frame, the 5d seems just overall sharper than the 7d (coming from a long time 7d user)

  • this fullframe and crop matrix testing is inadequate, crop is showing angles and shaded places of the appartment and fullframe show the wide angle

  • So, I just take pictures. Would you suggest the 5d?

  • @OrsonMyles lol *bowing down*

  • @dannycurtean you sir, are clearly watching it wrong

  • Quality would've been identical if it wasn't for the Full Frame sensor on the 5D.

  • When you use prime lenses and on a way that you get the same angle of view you wil discover that sensorsize doesnt madder anymore.Put a 50mm on the 7d and a 100mm on the 5D2 and you whil get the same angle of vieuw. Using the same amount of pixels you wont see any differends.

  • nice vid... who's the music by or called?

    Thanks for the post...

  • 5D LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER

  • 5D ftw

  • The 5d and it's full frame seem to be the winner for me. But 7d is sweet to!! I have a t2i so I'll shut up lmao

  • Nice video, I'm trying to make the right choice for me for which one to buy. And I have a question. Maybe someone can tell me about it. I've heard stories about the 7D, that it overheats quite rapidly, making it impossible to keep shooting until it's cooled down. Also, when it's overheated I've heard it gives more grain to the image. due to the 60fps - which is something i know will be of use to me - I'm thinking of going for the 7D. But if these stories about overheating are true...?

  • man i need a 5d. such a better picture than a cropped chip

  • Thnakyou for posting your test here on utube excellent stuff G4zhg

  • anyone know what song this is?

  • i want it fot videos and pictures but i want it tu make long exposure pictuers... wich should i buy?

  • I don't really see much difference here in this video. I went with the 5D for higher quality, because of the full frame sensor. I think you'd see the 5D shine against the 7D if the lens was zoomed to match the frame of the 7D. You simply have a larger sensor measuring the same picture, of course its going to look better.

  • the darker it gets the better the 7d looks..... more detail

  • We just use the 5D for our web series 'Flat Whites'.

Earlier in the year we were using 7Ds, but upgraded..

  • your friend at at the start looks like a young and thin version of michael moore

  • huh ? So much difference in low light condition. The 7d's one is more noisy but seems to have more details in dark areas...Very strange.

  • pleas halp me. which one is better for video mode, 7d ov 5d?

  • pretty much the same

  • whats color corretion? ;)

  • not same distance. Lame

  • @KatiushaVN4 well duh...the 7d is a cropped frame so things are going to look closer...

  • @KatiushaVN4 well duh...the 7d is a cropped sense so things are going to look closer....

  • did everyone forget that the 7d still has 19 autofocus points to the 5ds 9, or the 60 fps video? those are very important too.

  • @MrPanda350 I agree---I've wanted the 5d now for a while...but thinking of switching to 7d. but I want the full frame...ooooh

  • 7D's video mode best.

  • Why does 7d seem to have better performance at the night shot? (5d's image is much more dark)

isn't full frame suposed to work better in low light conditions?

  • You dont need the same LENS for a fair test. You DO need the same FOCAL LENGTH.

  • @badgermost lol. Imagine comparing a 18-55 kit lens against a 24-70mm L or even a 17-40mm L lens at the same focal length.

I guess you really don't need the same lens /sarcasm. :)

  • @RyanTheTuber Your comment just made my day.

  • @onelonedork I hope that's not sarcasm too! Haha. :)

  • is the 1.6x crop factor on the Canon APS-C sensors, equivalent to Nikon's DX format?

  • for a the cinematic film look, which camera is better? i understand it's all done in post production editing in sony vegas or adobe after effects, but i see way more "film look" videos on youtube from the 7D rather than the 5D mark ii. any reason?

  • @papowski that's because more people have a 7d because it's cheaper and because 5d filmers are more engaged in there own project like myself, we don't have time to make videos showing of our filmlook

  • which is the best camera to buy guys 5d mk2 or 7d i want to use it for video mostly

  • @mrfontain 5d mk2.

  • @onelonedork no! camera roll is waay to bad on the 5d mk2

  • @onelonedork I agree, unless you want to do some slo mo. 7d shoots 60p

  • @onelonedork

what about the 5D shooting in 24 fps only ??!! :(

  • @onelonedork 600d don't waste money get ur self a fast 50 or something with a big zoom depending on what u shoot

  • @onelonedork The best for timelapse?

  • @onelonedork but why?!? :'(

  • @onelonedork yea i want for VIDEO only and need the best. I'm going to wait to see how much of an AF improvement the 5d mark3 will have and probably get that but the price decrease on the mark2 will tempt me to just settle for the mark2 but i can't get over the obsolete AF on the mark2 especially with the 19 cross point AF on the 7d for much less than the obsolete 5d mark2...what if you just move back with the 7d, or use a diff lens...will it give basically the same full frame shot?

  • @mrfontain 5D Mark 2

  • @mrfontain with 7d you can shoot @ 60 fps and you can have great slow motion, but is not full frame and you'll have problem using L-series lenses.

  • @bluelemur01 problem shooting with L lenses... why? I think you're confusing EF-S lenses not working on full frame canon dslrs. L lenses work just fine on the 7d. You could even use an L lens on a canon t3. The EF-S lenses stick out towards the mirror so much that if a full frame camera, like the 5d mk2, were to use one, the massive mirror would bump into the lens when the shutter is released.

  • @bluelemur01 what do you mean by full frame?

  • @mrfontain well there's your problem... your buying a fucking dslr for video purposes... way to limit yourself. just buy a go pro 2 which is cheaper and better than both of these for video.

  • no color corretion nor spelling corretion ;)

  • This really shows the importance of lens selection. At first I thought the bigger sensor in the 5D was showing distortion towards the outer edges of the lens, but then I realized that the lens is functionally much wider-angle on the 5D than on the 7D, so you can start to get an almost fisheye effect. Anybody who has been using a Canon DSLR with an APS-C sensor will need to reevaluate their lenses before upgrading to a full-frame camera like the 5D.

  • @isnerdy Yep.

  • @isnerdy in what way should u reevaluate which lenses u buy before upgrading to a Full frame camera\5D?

lets say i really like the 50mm series of primes that Canon has. I buy it for my 7D...

then what hard will happen when i use that 50mm on the 5D? its just wider so you get more of the frame, no?

    any down sides?

  • @eladbari The 50mm primes are going to work differently than the zoom lens used in this video. However, things like vignetting and barrel distortion become much more apparent with larger sensors. I wouldn't recommend using the 50mm 1.8 on a 5D. I have the 50mm 1.4, and it's great. The 50mm 1.2L is amazing, but cost-prohibitive for most people.

  • @isnerdy Indeed...caught my attention right away. You summarized best tho

  • @isnerdy SO...if I have a 7D and want a Mark II but keep my lenses, I won't get a clean image? It will fisheye? So I would have to buy new lenses?

  • 5d shows more brighter then 7d

the angle is important too for brigthness. 7d is more detailed but more darker

is the zoom level the same??? 7d is brings the object more closer then 5d

    thx for uploading

  • @karakan1453 both cameras are set at the same focal length on the lens.

  • @karakan1453 This is because the 5D Mk. II has a full-frame sensor, while the 7D has a 1.6x crop sensor.

  • yup, now i really can't wait for the 5dII replacement just around the corner......

  • I see differences , both in daylight , room light and def night. However I 'm not sure if I'm in love with this different zoom that's going on.

  • Wow I just realized how much better the 5d is when I saw the night shot at 3:17 I've been researching forever to see if there really was any difference between the two, and now I see it. I'm buying the 5d.

  • @ICEx03 Yep, the 5d really shines in low light. In normal lighting it's hard to tell the difference. If you need that low light performance then the 5d is the way to go.

  • @onelonedork By the way thanks for posting this video up. I currently own the Canon T2i and as soon as I get the 5dii I'm gonna make the T2i my backup.

  • My wife gotsa know who's the misic from?

  • @domerhomer I wrote the background music.

  • just proves what alot of reviews indicate, during the day the difference isn't great. at night the 5D makes the 7D look like an iPhone.

  • I think the 7d looks better than the 5d.

  • Why people asking about this VS, ofc 5dmark2 its better for sure, and im telling u guys cuz i got both bodys , 5dmark2 and 7d as well

  • With the 7D being APSC it would have have been better to zoom the 5D in a little to show the quality difference for the same shot

  • @Morrgore I have a video with that setup as well. Just check my chanel

  • does it focus automatically ? also , someone please explain to me the shutter function for a video . if the vid has 30 frames per second does the shutter opens 30 times per second too ? and if you set the shutter at 1/60 ?? i am confused with this , I dont think my camcorder has a shutter , HOW DOES IT WORK ??

  • what?

    - tell me what you got in your anus :)

    - great intro line.

  • @groomlake67 Amos is his name actually. "Tell me what you've got Amos."

  • I wish you would have zoomed in the 5D. This simple adjustment would have made this test more informative.

  • @urbanloops I have another test with exactly that. Although the zoom lenses preform differently at different zoom settings. Swing by the channel and check it out.

  • I see a difference in dynamic range, even though they both probably have the same A/D. Interesting since, getting my 5D Mark I, I promised myself I would only get full frame cameras from now on. That is, until I started to like video. I think I want the 5d Mark II, over the 7D. The 7D does have more user friendly buttons, but the 5D Mark II looks superior in video quality. good video.

  • Also, you did not use the 'True' ISO values of 125, 325, 625.

  • @qqstar999 Yes you should do that.

  • I'm pretty sure the 5D would have got more light in it than the 7D with the exact same settings, because of the larger sensor. And you should have zoomed in the 5D for exact comparison, something like 5D - 25mm and 7D - 16mm.

Also, I'm pretty sure you can't compare these two cameras to the bone, since they have different purposes. One camera will always be better at something than the other.

  • @ElMirc The 5d seems to out preform the 7d in low light due in a large part to the sensor. Another test was conducted with equivalent focal lengths and is posted on my channel. Unfortunately the zoom lens doesn't preform the same at different focal lengths, so that test puts the 5d at a slight disadvantage.

The 2 camera's are not the same, however it is nice to see if the difference justifies the price of each camera body. Some users find that the small gain may not be worth the cost.

  • the 5d looks better... they both had the same lens? and the 7D wasn't zoomed in or anything?... I think I'd want the 5d.

  • @equalsLIFE Yes same lens, No zoom in on the 7d.

  • @onelonedork then I'm getting the 5D

  • @equalsLIFE I'll probably make the Jump, at the end of the year to the 5d mark III. The AF system on the 5d isn't nearly as good as the 7d.

  • could someone help me? im considering buying one of those but im a bit torn. i focus on portrait (not studio) and concert photography as well as street life. i think a full frame is really big plus and the ISO quality is a bit better, but then the 7D has a continous burst of 8 frames per second and higher number of focus points... could anyone give me a advice? Lo

  • @pikapolonca3 It depends on what you want to do with your photo's. You could buy the 7D, spend the extra money on nice glass, then upgrade to a 5d mark III later on. Normally people keep there lenses and replace the camera body every couple of years.

  • omg the spinning is making feel i'll haha

  • @lampaslocus There is a none spinning version on my channel as well.

  • I think the 7D is so much better than the 5d mk2 because I own the 7D and couldn't bring myself to pay that wee bit more cash to get that ..better camera.

Full Frame = better camera, I'd only ever want to shoot 24p 1080 anything else just looks handycam, slo-mo in my NLE no prob.

I've owned a 7D for 10 days so I can still return it and swap for a 5d mk2 which I'll do, I want to buy a lens that does what it says on the barrell ie 24-70 = 24-70 50mm = 50mm, full frame is Never a curse.

  • @bobcranehomevids There is good and bad to both cameras, I've worked with both and see where each could come in handy.

  • why its zoomed on the 7d

  • @EIEmultimedia

the 7d being and aps-c sized sensor has a crop facto of 1.6X or what some people call a multiplier and the 5d is a full framed sensor with a 1.0X. the crop factor is why the 7d looks "zoomed in"

  • Is it me or does the 5D MKII seem to give a sort of "fisheye" effect when panning around like that? it looks distorted.

  • To be honest ppl go about 5D having a bigger sensor so better low light sensitivity... But i have seen loads of videos comparing the two cameras and to be honest the different cant not be noticed... No doubt 5D is the best for still photography but for videography I would defo go for 7D as it has 50/60 frames, you can connect it to monitor too!

  • @nasimbahal The Monitor output is probably the thing I like the most about the 7d. In most cases I use the 7d for filming, but the 1.6x can be a blessing and a curse depending on what and were your filming. Some users have reported problems with proper white balance in video mode on the 7d, it's a problem i haven't had but might be a reason to use the 5d when shooting with more then one camera.

  • @onelonedork good point but I have been making loads of pro and co videos and I have used variety of cameras... we want more frame rates for smooth slow mos, big screens to look at. Even red is far off the hook when it comes to 5d and low light. But to be honest even in those situations 7d isnt far from 5d,,,

  • @nasimbahal One other thing to consider is that the 5d has a working magic lantern hack, the 7d does not. I would love to have proper audio level meters and the zebra patterns on the 7d. I some times miss the convenience that a proper video camera provides. Running sound and video on 2 units can be a real hassle when i'm the only one working.

  • The 5d has a bigger sensor & so resolves the true focal length of the lens the 7D's smaller sensor does in effect zoom in 20% which is a pain if you want crazy wide angle shots. On the other hand the 5D is NOT able to output a live HD recording to an external monitor as it only has one processor, the 7D and 1Ds have two and therefore have that ability. A plus point for clients and directors who will be used to the luxury of a 17' monitor to watch takes on.

  • @headcage Your absolutely right on the monitor output, for that reason alone I like the 7d much better for my work (i always have my battery powered field monitor with me).

The effective zoom is more then 20%, and you can still get wide angles if you use an tokina 11-16mm 2.8(17-26mm on the 7d) or A sigma 8mm f3.5 (12mm on the 7d), i'm not sure what you'd want to film that would be wider then 12mm. But if you do then the 7d probably isn't for you.

  • @onelonedork ..... yep the 7D is a sweet camera giving great results. I went with the 5D as I really need the large raw file size for graphic animation stills as well as 1080 quality live action BTW: Have you checked out the new Panasonic AgAf-101? It's got proper grown up XLR sound outs! Looks scary good......

  • @headcage Yes i have and it does look great, as does the new GH2, both camera's have the same sensor and processor. The current tests I've seen look great! The only problem is I've got so much canon glass that I'm locked into canon.

The new Panasonic camera's have almost a 2x crop factor, so i'd have to hunt down the Voigtlander F0.95 25mm and a few other lenses to get equivalent focal ranges i have in the current primes i use.

  • O and have you looked into juicedlink, if your using a 5d with the JL-DT454 You can get great audio inputs on your 5d mark II.

  • @onelonedork - thanks I'll check that out

  • I think u have the tagging all wrong, the right side should be 5d and left 7d. Look at the DOF.

  • 5D have wider frame i mean.

  • I don't know what Camera is better, seems that 7d had more wide frame, BUT when you pan it, at 5D MarkII the right side close to the border, make the frame looks weard, out of focus, something like sqeezing it, make him be wider. its remind me, when i took 4;3 frame, and make it 16;9, same effect. It does it wider, and then, when the object move more to the center, it get it straight. This effect make it looks, like the camera not just pan, but also Spin. It look good, but weard...

  • I thought the color saturation was much richer on the 5d.

  • i just bought my 7d and have no idea what should i buy to help the volume and audio from surrounding.

  • @olliegurlchesterben I normally sync my camera with my zoom h4n, but the zoom h1 works great as well.

  • thanks !

  • When you threw on the B&W filter, the colors and darker textures popped out more on the MK 2 than 7D, for me anyway.

  • @TemplarReturns Thats actually a software issue. If you shoot in color and use the RGB to filter for black and white you'll end up with a lot more range.

  • dude he called you ANUS in the beginning of the vid

  • @frilink Amos.

  • @onelonedork

    My bad.........

  • I shoot sports photography (BOXING) and film it as well. I'm torn between the two. Which do you recommend to catch action shots? I need a camera that can really catch that money shot.

BTW, excuse my ignorance but I'm fairly new to photography :)

  • @BoricuaBoxingNews

i reccomend the 7d for sports shooting as it has 8fps as apose to 3.9...

  • @jamessteely I agree!

  • @BoricuaBoxingNews for stills, you would need the 7D or 1D mk IV due to the burst rate

  • @BoricuaBoxingNews u need the 7D. i'm using the both of the cameras, and for filming, the 5d m2 is the backup machine.

the main question, the lenses, expressly the fisheye, because you can shoot (photo/video) better with the 5d mark2 whit fisheye, but with every other lenses 7D better than 5d.

and also 7d breaking resistance is a littlebit better.

5d m2 better for photographers, who are don't want to make lots of videos. But 7D has faster processors for serial shooting. (8/sec)

  • watching this made me dizzy ....

  • Looks like 5D Mk II has a greater picture quality than a 7D. I Choose 5D Mk II i think. :)

  • Does the 5d mark II have slowmotion?? Wich one would you recommend for film. I´m planning to shoot at different day times and on interiors and exteriors.I will be shooting some horror films.. thanks!

  • @nofiction Not really, Some people like to shoot at 29.97 and conform to 24 for a slight slow motion effect, but it lacks the 720p 60 frame a second many use for slow motion. I to shoot horror films.

  • @onelonedork great you should upload some, i´ll do when i finish editing! wich one do you find more useful on film then?...I was thinking that if i get the 5dm2, i´ll have money only to buy one lense.. and will have to wait a while to get more stuff..but if getting the 7d, i´ll be able to purchase more lenses and filters...wich one woul it be a better investment? since i´ve read that bodies become obsolete over time and the best investement are lenses..

  • I think when you pan it's impossible to see the differences and make an assessment. Why don't you try to have a still shot with movement going on in the background and roll with different textures and light angles. The panning really throws off the test.

  • everybody, just pause at 0:43 and go to 1080p to see who the real winner is. pay close attention to the noise level on the cabinets.

  • 5d is more wider than the 7d here, and that makes 5d looks sharper that the 7d in my opinion. both camera is good for filming. you just have to find the rite lenses.

7d is also very fast camera when it comes to taking pictures. the differences that I see the most from these 2 cameras is the price. if you can afford 5d, buy that. if you dont 7d will still make your mind blasting :)

  • @Deanzsyclone ,yes exactly

  • @Deanzsyclone yes

  • @Deanzsyclone

Correct, the 7D being an APS-C sensor has a crop factor of 1.6X, and the 5D being full-frame is 1.0X.

  • @Deanzsyclone First off they might be using different lens. Second yes the 5d mark ii is full frame and can capture any lens from edge to edge making it have a wider field of view and that will affect even if the 7d is using the same lens as the 5d mark ii

  • @Deanzsyclone yes.

  • @Deanzsyclone Yes, It's probably an fullsensor lens and since 7D isn't a fullsensor camera it will be croped

  • Comment removed

  • @Deanzsyclone Yeah, the 7D is cropped-in more due to it's smaller sensor.

  • @Deanzsyclone Sure it is

  • whats the music?

  • @Radders123 Just a track i wrote on my mpc 1000.

  • @onelonedork awesome - it really works for this.

  • the 7d does look brighter but also the image seems a lot closer to me is that because the 5d is full frame.

  • should have asked is there a difference in depth of field with a 5d. Is it easier to get the background out of focus with the larger sensor?

  • Comment removed

  • Would the 5d have better bokeh because of the full frame sensor?

  • @brandy1000sissy thats more a factor of the lens then the camera.

  • @onelonedork ORLY? so the full size sensor doesnt effect bokeh? wow i learn new things everyday..

  • I like the 7d, but it's not a full frame. Very nice video with the 2 cameras.

  • The 7D some how look a little bit more brighter... is it because it's located on the top???

  • @liewchengyeh Could be, I plan to post another comparison next week with the camera's side by side, and set the same 35mm equivalent focal lengths.

  • Canon 5D mkII is much better camera/camcorder than Canon 7D

  • @tomaspauko22 that really depends on what your using it for.

  • @onelonedork hmm... not really. Well, if you want to do slow motion, than 7D is better because of 60fps.

Weddings, portraits, wildlife, landscapes - 5D mkII

    Sport - 7D

    5D mk II rules!

  • @tomaspauko22 For photography the 7d has a higher frame rate, it also has better weather seal, its auto focus system is more advanced (19-point all cross-type AF), it can control up to 3 groups of 4 flashes each, and the crop factor gets you a very nice bit of extra distance on your 70-200mm 2.8 IS L. But it's not full frame.

I've used both the 5d and 7d for video and found the low light performance on the 5d is much better, also the new firmware adds audio control that the 7d is lacking.

  • @onelonedork Because of better AF, higher frame rate, crop factor 1.6x I wrote that 7D is better for sport.

Why would someone need higher frame rate for weddings, portraits, landscapes if the quality of the pictures is just not good enough ;).

    I had both 7D and 5D mkII... I sold 7D ;)

  • @tomaspauko22 don't forget wildlife, out door time laps (better weather seal), Studio work (built in flash controller). "Not good enough" is hardly true, In testing i find the 5d mkII to be marginally better. If marginally better is worth $1000 then selling your 7d was the right move for you. However for many the small gain that $1000 gets you would be better spent on glass.

  • Okay, question for this board...when using my new 5D MARK II for photos, the surrounding blur/out of focus affect is not as prevelent as when I am shooting video using the same lens (24-70 Canon portrait lens). Any ideas as to why this may be? For creative purposes I was actually hoping to get more of the blur affect on my photos like that when I am shooting the same staionary object in video mode.

    Any help would be appreciated,

    The Meltdownman

  • @meltdownman1 The surrounding blur or DOF or bokeh must be the same for videos and photos. Just make sure you are using the same aperture on the same focal lenght. Check my newest video called DREAMING LIBBY... shot with Canon 85mm on f/1.8... I love bokeh on 5D mkII :)
