Maybe this is because health and safety is about controlling our actions and political correctness is about controlling our thoughts maybe that is why people confuse them.
@itsgabony Or maybe they're both about keeping people safe from unforseen accidents and preventing bigotry and discrimination from being prevalent in polite society.
I think you're the one confusing Health & Safety and Political Correctness. To be specific, I think you're confusing them with the myriad schemes of Ming the Merciless.
Steve Coogan made exactly the same joke in I'm Alan Partridge, with him talking about not being able to have a barbecue on the forecourt of a petrol station.
That would make a absolute sense! As last week Richard Herring was on that Gabby Logan-The Wright Stuff spin off show. And talked about how he wrote the very first Alan Partridge show skits, on The Day Today.
And of course, Armando Lanucci, and Stewart Lee, as well as Herring. Have had a link pretty much right back to their time at Oxford.
Saw something similar-ish on here the other day. Someone ranting (albeit in the comment section) on a video about Somali pirates, complaining that we were handing out British passports to 'these people' and showering them with money for benefits!
Correct me if I'm wrong but, I'm not aware of the streets of the UK being over-run with ex Somali pirates..surely that would have been on the news!
It's Facism gone mad.

@rorrt Stewart Lee is one of the creators of Alan Partridge so it's not that surprising.
