The Internet is being used to revolutionize societies. Tell your Congressman to rewrite the “Employee Freedom of Choice Act” so it uses the Internet to allow workers to request and conduct union votes DIRECTLY with the NLRB. Truly secret votes where employers can’t identify and fire organizers. Force employers to bargain with unions 30 days after a successful vote. Bring in an arbitrator 30 days later if no contract is in place. In 2012 VOTE for Obama, House & Senate majorities and pass it!
YouTube allows an upload to be used as a video comment on just a SINGLE posting. So please search YouTube for “Introduction to Teaching 101.mpeg”. Don’t know how much of my taxes are going to study public education, but Washington could save a LOT on consultant fees by just reading the responses to my above upload from hard pressed teachers from around the country. Teachers KNOW what is wrong with American education – career and politically motivated administrators do not.
It took a Dem president, Clinton, to take the first swing of the ax to the New Deal with his welfare "reform"/workfare, creating an involuntary replacement workforce used to suppress wages, block unions, etc. The public funds once used for America's poor went into tax cuts for corps, which have used this money to export our jobs. That money is gone now, so more is needed. We knew the next target would be the middle class, and so far, it looks like another Dem president, Obama, is raising the ax.
Love ya David, but the argument is a non-sequitur. Reminds me of the saying from my Dad when I was a kid and didn't clean my plate: "There are kids starving in Africa. Now clean your plate!". The two are totally unrelated. Salaries are based solely on the scarcity of an available substitute. There are many more people who can (and want) to be teachers than those who can (and want) to be Wall Streeters. If teachers were scarce, salaries would be high.
@garth3399 : Your position appears to be that it is OK to reward massive incompetence, nay, theft, because there are relatively few people who choose to take that job on.
Well said, David. As a teacher myself, I completely agree. This is just class warfare in another a different shape, however, according to some on the right, it's only class warfare when the poor people complain.

Should we be paying politicians more than teachers? Who has more value to society? Who is more crucial to the very survival of this country?
