  • george bush and stupid americans choosing his son george W bush his son winning election is again nepotism so who are encouraging nepotism it is stupid americans by voting them.....

  • @adamisking666 true!

  • watch?v=KTuDMTQqkk4

  • And when sugardaddy and sugarmom send luckykid to Harvard thats not nepotism? Expensive education giving luckykids easy rides is nepotism too, just in a less direct way.

  • @depth386 That is SO true! Very well said!

  • At 5:00, meritocracy only makes the problem worse, because standards are dropped to allow the favoured one to pass through the system to their preordained seat of office!

  • I hate it, why don't you just start marrying your sisters and cousins, Nepotism is akin to Inbreeding, and I'm sure theirs a thesis for somebody to write on this, this Nepotism comes from monarchy, all so called royals are nothing but degraded inbred scum!

  • "Creative gene" my arse.

  • No, nepotism in the arts is NOT fine. It's just as debilitating and irritating and sabotaging as it is in any other field.

  • Jill is HOT!

  • _____Some jokers out there think that nepotism isn't so bad because it's considered good in some other parts of the world--like Africa and South America. Africa also has female genital mutilation. Is THAT considered good too?

  • @Egglesplork Nepotism is one of the things that ruined the world economy i believe. People give people the top jobs based on merit! All jobs!

  • @PanayotiProductions

_____That, and the people who were supposed to be overseeing America's marketing activity were watching PORNOGRAPHY instead of doing their job. Both Fox News and the Christian Science Monitor did articles on that stupidity. I'll just add that to how the people who run corporations have sex on the job and snort cocaine otherwise. Ancient philsophers asked, "Who watches the watchers?" Nobody does, and the ruling families do what they want.

  • @Egglesplork

What has Africa got to do with this? She never even mentioned Africa... actually there is an elephant standing in the room ...what about the Rothchilds? Was it not typical for the Jewish family to use family members? ... I forgot only non-westerners do nepotism...

  • @napata102

_____Africa and nepotism, you don't know about it? Look it up. I'm not saying anything else on the matter. You'll just rant and rave your opinion. I can bring up all the facts, logical points, whatever. You'll just disagree forever. So goes the intellectual decay of civilization via postmodernism.

  • @Egglesplork

you appear to have a problem with Africa ..maybe you are 'white' south african ... this has nothing to do with this topic ...

  • @napata102

_____Africa's leadership equals nepotism. I'm done "arguing" with you. Sit in denial of Africa's political problems all you like; it's denial that's killing the continent. Fifty years from now, until and unless sub-Saharan Africa's corrupt, genocidal, greedy, inbred, ruling families are destroyed, Africa shall be no more. Or maybe, that's what you want?

  • @Egglesplork

this is absurd ... nowhere in Africa are the rulers the children of former rulers ..we do not have Bush or Kennedy families .. where one ruler has been around for a long time it used to be because he was supported by US or Britain...

    This conversation is over.

  • @napata102

_____It's over, with you calling the BBC a bunch of liars. For anyone reasonable listening to this, check the BBC's website for "Africa," "cronyism" and "keeping it in the family.' Of particular interest is the article about the endless succesion of inbred sons and daughters of ruling families coming into power. Keep lying about Africa's problems.

  • I think there are very good point being made, however a point could have been argued that sometimes this is done because of trust. The trust which exists between the two people (the person benefiting from nepotism and the one giving the benefit) can be crucial in pushing decisions through or simply receiving overall agreement within the organization, in other words aid control for the boss over his subordinates.

  • Who says that nepotism is considered a good thing in Asia? Well, I am a business student in Pakistan, where we have large and small businesses, and nepotism is practiced however most people are against such a notion. I did a small survey with business students and working graduates as respondents, and I was not surprised to prove this.

Many business graduates are now opting for entrepreneurship over working hard with a subordinate who would become their boss overnight.

  • People always look out for there own-suppressing new talent.

  • throw under the bus a person at work, and put your own in their place

  • shes right, it is insidious and should be illegal.

  • I know lots of people that utilized nepotism. it's really annoying when they rub the fact that they have a good job in your face and you just have to sit there and take it knowing that they only got the gig because of mommy or daddy. arggg.

  • Ironically, everyone I know who got a relative a job, even a bad one, regreted it. The relative usually embarasses them or gets fired. However, I think when you get only get a job through your relations you have to really question your skills.

  • lol i know of such a case lmao, the kid came to work high on drugs hahaahah and was fired, he was boss's son! hahaahah, and that job was 80k a year!, i wont go into details, but what kind of dumb fuck would come to work high and not give a fuck about 80k/ year job??????????

  • In the long run a company run with nepotism should fail, because qualified people are not hired.

In the short run there is colateral damage. Real people lose real jobs. Is this acceptable?

  • depending if people hired are qualified or not

  • Comment removed

  • A true meritocracy is only a dream. Especially in the south US, where large companies are closed or averse to non-relatives of current employees. The north is the exact opposite: they don't want relatives so to avoid drama & idle chit-chat.

  • Especially in Texas. In the south college is for people that don't have connections. Nepotism runs the south.

  • Nepotism is a double edged sword in all walks of life. I have both gained and lost through nepotism and could argue both for and against ths subject. I feel that cronyism is something we should all be aware of when discussing nepotism as this is equally as discriminating.

  • Hello, I'm a musician who once worked with a Bluegrass Gospel band that practiced nepotism-I nearly lost my car, had no money, and had to look for a new job with $10 in my pocket. So, Ms. Corkindale, I know how you feel! And, please feel free to contact me if you want to do a show on nepotism in music! Thanks!

  • human systems and economics systems dont work in the same way...

  • nepotism is the rule, not the exception.

  • rupert murdoch inherited his empire from his father then rupert tried to groom his son lachlan who was as dumb as dogshit and has been sidelined

  • the british royal family keeping a tight grip of the bloodlines have had many nutcases through history that may explain george bush wasnt barbara a first cousin.also the kennedys have a few strange ones in the family

  • This is a great interview . Nepotism is a practice we all need to avoid.

  • can someone be interviewed on the side of nepotism.

  • This is one of America's biggest secret cancers, especially in the mid-west where communities are much more in-bred, literally and figuratively.

  • @slbiggs36

You say this is big in the midwest. You don't get out much. This is a serious problem in the south as well. But most important it's very much alive in one particular place. A military base run primarily by civilians. Many managers use their position as a means to bring their children on, often as supervisor with little or no experience.

  • @slbiggs36 Absolutely. Its fucking sad.

  • My current research and investigations on Risk Management bear similarities to Ms Corkindale's views on Nepotism. They are transparent in many organisations in the UK, particularly family run companies

Nepotism only benefits the individual not the organisation. It holds back the creativity in a company by more than 20% ,further affecting its profitability by more than 3% 5% of its turnover.
