  • A typical banal Horowitz performance in the style of the banging Cziffra...If technique matters then banging the keys seems to be the way out... (of course it makes a stage before an audience eg in the Rachmanioff Sonata No 2 but really...)

  • If I remember correctly this recording was done later in his career, so he is notably sloppy. However, there is no other performer who brings out the frightful and passionate quality of this piece better than Horowitz. The mistakes don't matter because he was fearless in his playing and too many today are scared of taking risks and feel the necessity to reach note-perfect playing. Horowitz had a pair of balls and he played with risk and intensity, which is why it's so moving and memorable!

  • monstrous ?

  • So much color... Astonishing.

  • ive never seen playing with so much character. this is a one of a kind performance. deep tones and this kind of rough kind of sloppy but good thing hes got going on. parts like 8:01 and 9:34 were fresh and chilling.

  • Even is mistakes are musical.

  • PERFECT ,CAPOLAVORO,DIVINO,PARADISIACO,ANZI INFERNALE :)

  • Interesting historically, but beginning sounds more like a crazy drunk Elephant-Waltz to me...

  • i have never seen this! thanks!!

  • The sound Horowitz produces :D amazing I love his thunder sound

  • I thnk some parts are even too hard for horowitz... he tries to do too much sometimes.

    imho.

  • I love the Presto at the end 9:56
