@isoscelespopsicle DiMarzio's Pickups are very much a hit and miss thing. They're usually better than Seymour Duncans, but, don't always work like they should with some wood types or string winds/weights. Unless you have the time and money to try each and every one out in whatever guitar, you need to talk to someone who's been using them for years. Earl Slick's been using them since the very beginning, and probably has a very experienced and highly paid guitar tech, too.
@HoleHeadedLiar hahaha I find part of what you said a little funny. That's all very true, but I've found that I much prefer Seymour Duncans to DiMarzios in almost every case. It might be just because of the styles I play, but really pickups and personal preferences are all quite hit and miss, aren't they?
@isoscelespopsicle It was kinda funny, in retrospect. Yeah, they're very much hit-and-miss. Pickups rely on string response, and other factors directly involved in the string and the way it vibrates. Different Players will, of course use the strings in a different matter, and...you get the point.
Saw him with them New York Rock'n'Dolls in Lucerne. A humble man in the service of Rock'n'Roll. Very impressive guy. He would fit very well with Pete Honkamaki and Bela B. I'm waiting for them round the corner, mind it.
@Scrappalino I don't know, I wonder the same thing. I don't have much experience with P-90's, but I sure like the sound of these. I'm a humbucker man myself, but I'd sure like to give these a try. One of my old friends had a vintage LP goldtop with P-90's, but I didn't pay attention to them back then. I'd love to put them to the test now, that's for sure.
@Sweeper5 Had to find this old thread again... ha... Just got a Les Paul Special with P-90's... Amazing! If you can deal with low hum in a high gain situation... It's no worse than a modern tele I always roll my volume back when I'm not playing anyhow... gigged with it this week even got a board mix from a live show and it's really a tone monster... So yes! Invest in some P-90's...
@Scrappalino Ooooh, very nice bro. Is it a vintage LP Special or a new one? I've recently played some of the new P-90's at GC, and I think they sound every bit as good as the old ones. Tremendously cool pickups, and they look so freaking cool too.
@Scrappalino Oh yeah baby! I would get a new one too...I love the old vintage stuff, but it's not worth the price to me. Get a new one and play the hell out of it, that's what I say. It'll look "vintage" soon enough. LOL! Congrats bro, I know you're gonna love it.
If Cosmo Kramer had a bastard with Scott Weiland, Earl Slick would be the kid.

@isoscelespopsicle DiMarzios are great. Try them out.

@XAlphaZEROX I have tried them out. That's what made me decide I didn't like them. This video, however, has given me reason to think otherwise.
