I always thought it was referring to Cocaine rather than heroin. "A friend with weed is better" (adding rock to weed is the most socially acceptable way to use crack cocaine). "A friend who bleeds" (nose bleeds are often associated with the drug). "Day's dawning; Skin's crawling" (coke keeps you up all night. Your arms and legs feel tingly when high on blow). A friend who'll tease (coke is highly mentally addictive).
I could be totally off base, but what I always took it to mean.

@KidBk313 he could b talking about meth tho "Day's dawning, Skin's crawling"meth keeps u up and when ur high on meth u sometimes feel as something is under ur skin which could b what he means by "skin crawling" and u can snort meth as u would coke which could give u nose bleeds or by shooting up

I don't thing that this song it's about drugs. Could you explain me how the cocaine has breasts and all the rest? This song it's about a friend although Bryan wouldn't write that. It's clearly that in that lyric it's specifying that he's talking about a human.

"a friend with breasts and all the rest" is about doing a line of blow off of a strippers tits... obviously. lol. i'm totally kidding. the song might not have anything to do with drugs at all... i was just saying that i always envisioned someone battling a cocaine addiction when i heard it. and the imagery in the video of someone "teetering" on the edge of control (on the edge of a building) reminded me of addiction.
