I'm a huge fan of The Smiths and Morrissey, who refers to The Marvelettes as a HUGE influence on his music of the 80s. Although he'd have been all of 4 at the time of this performance, and had no access to the Marvs in England in his youth, I can see it and hear it now. He took shape in an indisputable way, right down to the young(er) and old(er) rushing the stage!

You are right. I guess they were magic in the studio with technical advances. There must have been a lot of tape punches to correct many screeches.
